Chapter.1Part1/3 Together

Her leg was hurting as she walked slowly up the three flights of stairs. There was a bedroom with a window open at the top landing and a slight breeze ruffled the curtain. There was a burnt out bulb in the light that swung gently back wards and forwards, it was dark, but the moonlight shone on the top few steps coming from the room. She looked around the room that was there before her. It was her room. It was neither small nor large but she thought of it as a quaint little room. She walked into her bedroom and sat on the firm bed with the smooth fluffy comforter that her mother had given her before she passed away. She then again looked around the room deciding whether or not to go and get a bite to eat or go to bed. She pondered for a moment and decided that she should make some tea. As she made her way down the three flights of stairs she noticed that there was a loud commotion coming from the living room. But when she got to the living room she found only the TV blaring so she walked over and turned it off. She turned away and made her way towards the kitchen. When she got to the kitchen she reached for the teapot in the top wooden cupards. She pored some water into the teapot and waited for it to boil on the stove. She sat down at the table and then realized that her father was not home and neither was her brother. She quickly looked over at the fridge that was standing in the right hand corner of the kitchen and sure enough was a note from her father. She got up from were she was seated and took the note off of the fridge. It read, Dear Elexa, your brother Anthony and I went to the Lumber Yard to pick up some supplies for the shed. We will be back soon. Love Dad. She then placed the note onto the counter and walked over to the teakettle that was whistling like crazy. She took the Teakettle off of the hot element and pored the boiling hot water into a teacup. She put a tea bag into the teacup and let it sit for a while. After she was finished her tea she went up the flights of stairs and into her bedroom. She noticed it had gotten a little chilly so she closed the window and the curtain now remained still. She flicked the switch for the light to come on but then realized that she had not yet replaced the light bulb that had burnt out the other day. Elexa feeling exhausted decided not to worry about it until the morning. She changed into her flower cotton pajamas that she had gotten for her birthday. She liked her pajamas because they were cozy and kept her warm at night. Elexa flopped onto her bed and pulled the covers tight to her chest. Elexa looked over at the clock that stood on her nightstand. It was nearly 1:30am and she was starting to get worried. She new her father and brother Anthony had gone to the lumberyard, but they should have been back by now. All of a sudden the doorbell rang. Elexa jumped out of her bed, and stumbled in the darkness of her room, quickly ran down the flight of stairs and opened the door. Standing in the doorway was two policemen. “Hello Miss.” One of the police officers said. “Hello, how may I help you Officers?” She asked with a slight quiver in her voice. “May we come in?” the other police officer asked. “Y, yes.” Elexa led them into the house, worried about what they had to tell her. “Um maybe you should sit down.” The slim police officer said waving his hand toward the living room couch.
“No I’m fine were I am. What is it that you have to tell me?” She asked, her heart thumping faster and faster. “Um, well, Miss I hate to tell you this, and I am very sorry but your father Mr. John. A. Taylor is dead.” The officer said while removing his hat. “And your brother Anthony Taylor Is in the Hospital with a severe concussion.” The other officer said, looking at her with sorry eyes. “Are you ok Miss?” the slim police officer asked making his way towards her
