Youth Retreat 2005 Entry ^_^
Well, I’m back again, and thought I’d leave you some things that went on at the retreat. It’ll be pretty long, so, I apologize if I bore you with my ramblings. I just have to tell y’all about my little experience. =)
Day one: I arrive at 3:00, it’s cold and slightly breezy, and I’m quite bored myself. Everyone was standing around at the lodge’s patio, chatting until dinner. I kept feeling like a pathetic loser because I wasn’t sparking conversation with anyone. One of my promises to myself before I left was to be more friendly and outgoing. It took me a little time to actually pursue being friendly and outgoing. Haha.
Three hours later, dinner’s ready, and we all get our chairs and sit at the tables. I can’t exactly remember who I sat with; I am so tired right now I can barely remember my own name.
Well, anyway, after dinner, we have our first session. The speaker’s name was Cisco (short for Francisco), a former bass player of a band called Scarlet Thread. (By the way, the band is awesome.)
Cisco had a wonderful message, but, he’s very monotone and not animated at all. So, that was a little dreadful, but he got better with the later sessions.
Afterwards, all the kids had some free time till we had to change and go to bed. Of course, like every year, my sleep was crappy. I’m telling you, I did the math: Altogether, two nights, I got a total of about five or six hours of shut-eye. Talk about a living dead girl for the last three days....
Day two: Bleep... bleep... bleep comes my alarm clock at 5:30 am. I’m tired, but, awake. A couple other girls and I venture to the bathroom (Yes, it’s another building. We’re in the mountains here). I get into a hot shower, and get ready for day two, which, in my opinion is always the best day.
Around 1:00, the youth had what they call a “jam session”. The theme of this year was “Let’s All be Rockstars!”. They created some narly music man! I was taking pictures like crazy. Three guys were on bass, electric, and a plugged acoustic, and another dude was on the drums. Boy, that was awesome. I was sitting with a couple acquaintances named Amber and Chantelle. They were screaming to the music (you know, like in hardcore stuff?) and asked if I would do my scream. I didn’t want to at first, but then had the idea if we all did it together. We did, and mine was the highest, so, all the guys now are calling me an atomic kitten. Hahahaha. One guy said, “Dude, your scream was so girly and cool at the same time.” I chuckled, and thanked him. But, I’m not a dude, dude. I’m a dudette.
At 3:00, they were having a talent show, and I really didn’t feel like going. I was walking up to my cabin, and Amber called me over where they sitting on these logs close to the bathrooms. I came over, and sat down. They were all throwing pebbles at each other, so I joined them. Hehehe… the moment I met Travis.
He’s really nice; and, I enjoy his company. We’re buddies now, and he’s always so concerned with me. Like, asking if I’m okay, and stuff. I find it amusing. Funny too, ‘cause I asked him how old he was, and I was presuming he was 17 or 18. He’s like, 6 foot, no joke. Guess what? He’s 14.
I didn’t believe him at first because one, he was so tall, and he has a little beard thingie. FOURTEEN!?!?!? That still blows me away.
I have a fat hint that he’s got quite a crush on me. I was sitting by myself in one of the sessions, and he asked if he could sit by me. I find it real sweet of him, being so considerate of my well being. I already love him to death.
...Not, like, “like” like, (ahh, too many ‘likes’ lol) but as a friend.
He’s in two bands; one, I can’t remember of the name, and the other All But Forgotten, whom Steve is apart of. Remember Stephen? Haha.
Well, I know you’re already drooling on yourself from sleeping. I AM A PATHETIC LOSER.
Hehe, anyways. Third day’s really simple, so, don’t need to ramble on about that one.
I think I’ve written too much. Oh well. Whoever reads it – thanks. I have a soft spot for tolerant people of me. HAHA.
Well, I’m exhausted. So, good night.
The ever so boring,
- RayWing Blitz
