third hour
hey here's some poems for you guys to mull over:

Don’t change now; don’t go back to the way things used to be
You can’t re-walk a bridge after it’s burned
Colliding images plague my mind
Why is it that you are so determined to find that weak point in me?
When all I wanted was to be everything you wanted me to be
You know all the places to aim to take the greatest effect
Please don’t make me want to regret the day I met you

Love me but not enough
Care about how I feel despite mass appeal
Promise me we’ll see each other again
Let’s pretend that we’re still best friends
That nothing ever changed
And we’re still leaning against that cold wall
And talking to each other.

We avoided the car crash
But we couldn’t avoid the spontaneous combustion
Lit with the spark from our meeting eyes
Doomed from the moment we met
Using lyrics we didn’t write to say the words that we can’t speak
Relive the past and pray for our future
Brushing hands a change of power
Who really holds the cards?
The two people we were are dead
We’re brand new
Because I’m definitely not me and you’re definitely not you

Come on baby, shoot from the hip
Come on darling, show me your wrists
I want to see the faded scars that reside there
And you can tell me how you once thought life was unfair
Tell me your secrets and I’ll laugh them off
And save them for later like money on a rainy day
Sell me your soul at a price you can pay
After all who needs a heart like yours anyway?

Spent most of last night holding this phone
Contemplating hearing the static crackle of your voice in my ears
Sat in the dark with my hand to my heart
And tried to hear it beating out your name
Listening as it faded away
Saw the glassy reflection of the stars in my eyes
And the sorrowful hollow laugh we left behind
Pressed my fingers to the cold glass but I can never see myself there
Listened to the songs that matched the moonlight
And I promised myself
I wouldn’t think about you
After tonight
