i'm still frustrated from last night
listening to: last night-motion city soundtrack

hey,

i put up some fall out boy posters today in my room. around eight posters i think. it makes my room look way bigger and it makes me happier. but i guess that fall out boy always has that effect on me. they mean waaaay more to me then just a popular band. i know it sounds weird but it's the truth.

i also decorated our christmas tree a bit. i put candy canes on it. that made me happier too.

oh i forgot to mention that while i was at walmart the other day i was in the cd section. while i was there i was playing with that cd player thing they have in there. i kept scanning cd's and playing songs like fall out boy, boys like girls, panic!, and others. it was so loud and people were looking but i didn't care.

anyhoo it's time for the newest chapter of murder and lyrics. it's almost done you know?

previously:
jake showed up at cassie's apartment and his line of conversation left her feeling strange. cassie asked jake to leave but he refused and pulled a gun on her.

murder and lyrics

chapter twenty six: the revelation that i wish i knew

danielle arrived at jake's house just as the sun had finished setting and the sky was lost between a purple and blue color. the group of people that had been sitting on the stoop outside jake's building last time danielle had stopped by were gone and she felt relived. danielle left her car and went down the same chipped cement steps that led to jake's door. she could see already that the apartment was dark but danielle thought that maybe he was just sleeping. either way she grabbed her gun up out of the holster and knocked hard on the door.

when no one anwsered after a minute she knocked again this time calling out jake's name. again no response. danielle thinking rashley raised her foot and kicked the door hard. it sprang open and danielle was thankful for the rusty hinges that held the door.

"jake walker are you here?" danielle asked as she stepped into the apartment with her gun at the ready. "jake, it's detective danielle kerley. come on out i just want to talk for a minute." danielle said as she moved along the wall in the dark apartment her free hand running along the wall searching for the light switch. she found it and flipped it on and instantly that same dim light filled the apartment.

danielle found no one in the living room or kitchen of the apartment and she crept over to the two closed doors in the apartment and opened the one that was directly across from the kitchen. finding that it was only the bathroom she turned away from it and instead went over to the left to the closed door that she assumed was jake's bedroom. she gripped her gun more tightly as she pushed the door open and turned on the light. her heart beat was still quick as she saw again that no one was in the room.

danielle lowered her gun and decided to look around the room a bit just to see what she could find. the room was mostly empty with the large bed taking up the most space. a mirror was on the wall infront of the bed and to the right pressed against the wall was a medium sized long dresser. danielle walked along the dressed scanning the top for anything that could be evidence for what lexi had told her.

she saw nothing too interesting nor anything she could use as evidence. suddenly a loud snapping noise was heard outside and danielle turned quickly knocking off a ruby red lamp that was sitting on the dresser. the lamp fell with a crash to the floor and danielle looked back at the dresser where the lamp had previously sat. it was there that she saw something sitting there. something black and shiny. danielle picked it up and exaimed it quickly realizing that it was a credit card. she ran her thumb along the name on the card

"josiah hardwick." she read aloud. jake had josiah's credit card! the same credit card thay josiah said he didn't use...danielle wondered if maybe jake had taken the card or worse that jake and josiah were in on it together; either way that meant that one of them was involved in the murder of danny hicks.

danielle pocketed the card and continued to look around the room for anything else that could incriminate jake. danielle had been a detective long enough to know that the signs were beginning to point to jake. it was like a puzzle and half the pieces were place but large white spots of missing knowledge still needed to be filled. she continued looking around but didn't find much else. knowing that jake wasn't in the house danielle walked back out to her car, her gun still in hand and radioed for a team to come and throughly search jake's house while danielle herself would continue her search for jake.

danielle was surprised when about ten minutes later the investigation team arrived along with timothy; who was grinning as he exited the car and strode over to where danielle was alreadt standing. "what are you doing here?" danielle asked and timothy just kept smiling his wide grin.

"i have a feeling that this case is nearing it's end and i want to be there when it does." he told her as he patted her on the shoulder.

"ja-jake what are you doing?" cassie asked fear stricken as she stared at the gun that jake held firmly in his hand. jake was standing a good few feet away from her pointing the gun at her with a look on his face that she couldn't quite place.

"i'm tying up the loose ends." he said as he took a small step forward and cassie took a large step back. she tried to keep calm despite the thundering beating of her heart. she tired not to look scared because she didn't want jake to know that she was more terrified then she had ever been. cassie tried to think of what she could do to get out of the bad and already worsening situation.

she thought about her phone. her cell phone was dead and she cursed the fact that she was always too forgetfull to charge it, danny's cell phone was in her room on the bed and her home phone was also located in her bedroom, but it wasn't like she could easily go and get it. jake had her hostage in the living room, her bedroom was to the down the hall and to the right...she doubt she'd get far is she made a run for it.

cassie figured that the best thing she could do for now was to keep jake talking. she didn't know what was going on in his mind but maybe she could talk him out of doing whatever he was thinking. "what do you mean loose ends?" she asked as her eyes flickered between jake's face and the gun.

"i mean anyone that would go about making my life harder...more complicated." jake said as though he were complaining. cassie swallowed because honestly that didn't sound good and she didn't like the way jake was wearing a small grin.

"jake, i don't know what's going on with you but please put the gun away....just put it away and we can talk about it...whatever you want." she told him as she stood defensless against him. jake made a scoffing noise and again took a step forward he wasn't close to her but she still felt a chill run down her spine.

"talking...it never really works anyway. you can talk to someone till you're out of breath but they never really listen...even if they're your best friend...." jake trailed off and cassie's heart beat quick again.

"is-is this about danny, jake? is it about his death?" she asked and jake looked away from her.

"it's about everything...friendship and love and money and happiness it's about it all." he muttered out and cassie nodded even though she had no idea what he was talking about.

"jake, can i ask you a question?" she asked him and he looked up at her obviously surprised at her question, before he gave a quick nod. cassie hesitated, she didn't know how to word her question and she didn't know how jake would respond once she asked it.

"why are you pointing a gun at me?" she asked, because she didn't know. she barely knew jake let alone a reason for why he would pull a gun on her. jake's face fell into a deep frown.

"i already told you! i'm tying up lose ends!" he snapped at her and she flinched because she wasn't stupid she knew that her being considered a 'loose end' wasn't a good thing.

"i-i don't understand what you mean though...what are these loose ends?" she asked as she continued her plan to get jake talking because if jake was talking to her it meant he wasn't doing worse things.

"you know i thought you were smart?" jake said to her but she ignored his comment because the last thing she needed to do was back talk the guy holding the gun. "you people, you're the loose ends! like josiah hardwick." jake said and she noticed how when he mentioned josiah his voice grew colder.

" josiah was getting in the way so i had to make that call to the police and give them that tip that got him arrested." jake said and cassie gasped because jake was spilling his secrets to her and she had seen enough movies to know that when the secrets came out the person who heard them wasn't expected to live. "and lexi, that bimbo would've ruined everything...she would've slipped and said something on accident so i had to shoot her to keep her quiet." jake said and cassie noticed his voice growing colder and again he stepped towards her. cassie stepped back only to find that she had reached the wall of her apartment.

"it was you jake? you shot lexi? but your arm! you were attacked!" she said as her eyes trailed jakes bandaged arm. jake chuckled a bit as he looked at his own arm.

"i attacked myself...it hurt like a bitch but it had to be done." he told her as he turned to look back at her. "then there's you cassie, the most innocent of the others, the one who really had the least to do with making things complicated for me...except for when you told the police who i was...or when you identified me in the picture with lexi...or when you told them about the money deal with danny. you're quiet the snitch." jake whispered as he came to stand now before her and cassie could do nothing as she was already backed against the wall.

by now cassie could barely think due to the sound of her heart beating in her ears. she couldn't believe that jake was doing this she couldn't believe that he had done half of the things he had claimed to have done. as cassie watched jake's face her eyes grew wide as her mind brought her a revealation.

"it was you wasn't it?...." she began as she stared the man in the eye "you killed him....you killed danny didn't you!" she nearly yelled at him and she felt her body shake as the words left her mouth. jake was looking down at her, his face took on a blank almost surprised stare and she noticed the gun go lax in his hand.

"see, i knew you were smart. he always told me you were." he told her and that was all the anwser she needed because she knew that he had done it. jake walker danny's best friend had killed him. cassie's body reacted faster to this news then her mind could and without missing a beat she made a leap for him she didn't really know what she was trying to do, grab the gun or just slug jake in the face. either way jake slung his arm out his face twisting into shock as he knocked away and she fell to the ground landing on the hardwood floor.

by now cassie's mind had caught up with her body and she shook as she realized she had put herself in a very dangerous situation. jake now seemed to tower over her and he had lowered the gun now pointing it at her head. he himself was breathing quickly probably out of surprise that she had tried to attack him. cassie lowered her eyes to the floor because she felt the tears prick sharp at her eyes and tears fell onto the wooden floor.

wheter she was crying out of anger at jake and her situation or sadness for danny, she didn't know.

"yeah cassie, i killed danny but i wasn't the only one." she heard jake say.
