What’s Wrong?

When this project was first assigned, I had no idea what to do. I almost didn’t even do it, at all. The problem wasn’t the work, or the research, or even the presenting this in front of the class. The real problem was that I don’t have any strong feelings about any issues plaguing today’s world. I don’t have answers to all the world’s problems. I can barely keep track of what’s going on in my own life.
In my short time here on earth, I have listened to many different people and their many different opinions. I have heard so many facts about so many things and listened to many stories. Truth is, I have no answers to all the world’s troubles. The very best I can do is try to simply identify them. There will always be problems, for humans will always complain about something or another. People need to have something to complain about. I have no idea why; I have never understood it myself. I don’t like complaining. I usually accept things as they come.
Every part of the world has a different set of problems, so I will only address the U.S.’s problems. I have heard of countless issues concerning our nation’s shortcomings, pollution, animal abuse, government corruption, health care, gas prices, racism, over population, obesity, immigration, abortion, and the list goes on and on…..
I say the problem is us, the middle class, the upper class, everyone. People tend to start problems, just for the sake of stirring up trouble. People get so consumed in complaining, obsessing over things, that they neglect what’s right in front of them. People can get so involved in global warming or going to war with other countries, that they forget to help people right here, not the people living here in 2050, when the world’s temperatures 5 degrees warmer, and not the people overseas fighting (no offense to soldiers). No, I mean the people in OUR country, right now.
I also noticed people have very little respect for their surroundings, or for other people, or the places they live, or spend most of their time in. they have no integrity. I’ve seen people in stores, knocking things over, by accident or other wise, and just leave the things laying there on the floor. Or look at this very school; floors covered with gum, kids spitting on the floors, almost everything is in poor condition, and the things that aren’t the kids will break at some point or another. Why would people do things like that? But it’s not just the kids, contrary to popular belief. Adults do the same things, most of the time worse. I have no idea where the idea came from that the past generations weren’t as bad as this one, but in reality there’s not much difference.
Once again, I have no solution to all of this. How do you improve society’s morals? I mean, there’s no such thing as perfect, there will always be bad people, or some problem with the environment, or a government scandal, but I think we can do better than this.
