Asagiri no Miko
So, I've finally finished watching Asagiri no Miko, and can we all say "cliche?" Very good.
Overall, it's a cute show. The characters are likeable and it's a quick series, given the 12-minute episode running length. But it's chock full of cliches, if you've watched any amount of anime at all by the fifth or sixth episode you know exactly how it's going to wrap up. It's cute, though, and I didn't mind sticking it out to the end. Probably a six out of ten stars, methinks.
---------------------
I'm in an arguement/fight with someone over on Livejournal about alchemy. Just alchemy in general. Neither of us is winning, and truth be told I'm just responding to her verbal lashing. I don't look kindly on people who condescend to me, as I am not a stupid person. (Reckless, maybe, but not straight-out stupid.) Calling alchemy a 'ficticious' science really riled me, because there is no such thing. 'Ficticious science?' Oxymoron alert. Allow me to open my dictionary. Science is defined by "The observation, identification, description, experimental investigation, and theoretical explanation of phenomena."
Let's break that down, shall we? It means people study it. Experiment with it. Try to prove hypothesis. If people do such a thing, it's a sciene.
Oh, and the emphasis on chemistry as a "real" science. I thought her need to define chemistry quite amusing, actually.
I wonder how many people I've pissed off on this community? I don't muchly care, because this is getting more amusing. I retorted to her explanation that "people were very superstitious then" with 'and people aren't now? Have you seen religion lately?' I like being snarky. (And yes, I believe all organized religion harbors many superstitions. Lots of tradition there, too. Nothing wrong with it unless you're trying to deny there's a lot of superstition there.)
Oh, hey look. The first definition for superstition in this dictionary is "1. An excessive reverence for, or fear of, that which is unknown or mysterious."
ANYWAY. She's responded to my last post and I'm getting psyched up for her likely condescending reply. Whee, this is fun!
