Aoshi Shinomori aka Okashira of the Edo Castle Oniwabanshuu

Shinomori Aoshi is cool, calm, cold, handsome, and expressionless. Behind his usual cool exterior hides his soft side, as he cares a lot for the Oniwabanshuu. He even risks his life to prove that the Oniwabanshuu is the greatest fighting force.

After the Bakumatsu, Aoshi was offered many high-ranking jobs, but he rejected all of them and chose to stay with the Oniwabanshuu because of his committment to the other Oniwabanshuu members.


Why do we love Aoshi? He's the obligatory sexy male of the series obviously. Kenshin isn't sexy enough, Saito is too evil, and Sanosuke is the punk, so that leaves the role to Aoshi. His hitory is sort of unknown. He becomes the leader of the Oniwa Banshu after his dad dies. Then after that he does stuff with them, not really exact on what, but they wind up protecting some idiotic drug dealer who gets whacked by Kenshin. Kenshin whoops Aoshi's ass, but because Aoshi has "nothing to live for" because all of the remaining Oniwa Banshu have died, he vows to come back and kill Kenshin. Then he pops up in the Shi-Shi-O saga. This is when all the Aoshi lovers go crazy, for suddenly he learns a whole shit load of kick ass skillz. In fact, he almost winds up killing Kenshin, but Kenshin does the succession technique on Aoshi so he loses. Then during the Shi-Shi-O fight, Aoshi pops up to buy time for Kenshin to get back up. After that he doesn't do much except for do the tea ceremony with Kenshin.

Seijuro Hiko aka 13th Master of the Heten Mitsurugi Ryu

Hiko Seijuurou is a very muscular man whose long hair is gathered in a ponytail. He often wears the coat which is the symbol of the successor of Hiten Mitsurugi Ryuu. He is the 13th successor of the Hiten Mitsurugi style. His weapon is the Nihontou, and his technique is Hitenmitsurugiryu.

He is a very powerful person, and is proud of himself. For instance, he says to Kenshin that it is his fortune to have him as his master. He always calls Kenshin "my stupid student", and likes to tease Kenshin with his childhood incidents.

In order to let Kenshin master the last secret strike of Hiten Mitsurugi Ryuu, he almost died battling with Kenshin. This scared the hell out of Kenshin.

Kenshin asked Hiko to protect the people in Aoiya while he battled Shishio. Although Hiko refused, he did appear at the last moment and helped to save the lives of them all. After the battles in Kyoto, he continued his plain life as an artist. Overall, he is indeed a wonderful master, a great guy, and is a cute character too.

Saitou is very tall and thin, and is a man who fights for peace, kills the evil, and lives for justice. He often speaks his mind, hence people often find him annoying and irritating. Because he was part of the Shinsengumi, he lived by the words "Aku Soku Zan".

Saitou is the cold Shinsengumi member. He took a job as a police officer after the Revolution, during which he fought against Battousai. He hates evil, hence his constant saying of "Aku... Soko... Zan."

Eventually, he fights against Kenshin again in Tokyo. During Kenshin's fight against Shishio, Saitou helps the weakened Battousai. Saito did this because he, as the commanding officer of the swordfight police, was ordered to take out Shishio and get help from the Battousai in doing so.

He's known as the Mibu's Wolf (the Shinsen-Gumi were called the Wolves of Miburo in the revolution). He was almost on the same level as a commander in the Shinsengumi, Okita Shoushi, who Soujiro was based on. He was the one who survived the longest against Kenshin.

Kaoru is a kind, caring (albeit short-tempered), pretty girl who cannot cook. She is the heroine of the series and teaches the Kamiya Kasshin style. Her friends are very important to her, since she has no family. Her dojo is pretty much the big hangout for most of the characters. She pretty much brings in the money by giving lessons at other places. Because of this, the Kamiya Dojo is often in need of money. However, Kaoru is very optimistic, and doesn't let anything get her down.

Kaoru cares a lot about Kenshin, and several times in the series, it suggests that she loves him. She gets jealous whenever Megumi flirts with him, and worries about him whenever he goes off to fight. Whenever he leaves, you can be sure that she'll follow him. Where he is, Kaoru is somewhere close by.

Kaoru is a very sweet girl and would do anything to protect those whom she cares about. She is a good friend to have.

Yahiko likes a girl named Tsubame, a waitress at the Akabeko. He freed her from a man named Mikio, who was using her to steal money from the Akabeko.
Yahiko is Kaoru's apprentice, and is a student of the Kamiya Kasshin Ryu style. He also has watched Kenshin fight, and has picked up some of the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu style as a result.

He used Ryu Sui Sen on some bad guys in order to protect a town, but then fell unconscious. He is a kid who uses a bamboo sword like Kaoru, because the Kamiya Kasshin Ryu style is meant to protect people not kill them

Megumi Takani aka Opium Woman

Megumi is a beauty. She likes to tease people and has some interest in Kenshin, which Kaoru does not like at all. When she first appears, she seems cold-hearted and selfish, but later on we see her true self, a young woman who is lost in the world, searching for her family and friends. Megumi usually acts stouthearted, but she is actually just trying to hide her loneliness and the guilt she holds in her heart. She blames herself for the spreading of a new type of opium, and the deaths the opium caused.

Megumi Takani's family was prestigious in the medical field for generations. They treated all their patients, disregarding any class difference. During the Aizusensou, all of them except young Megumi went to the battlefield to fulfill their roles. As a result, Megumi's father was killed, and Megumi was separated from her mother and her two brothers. She was left alone in the world to fend for herself.

Weapon: Zanbatou Sword (Huge sword used in old times to knock people off of horses, wasn't used very much because it was so heavy. Almost twice the size of Sanosuke and it's the largest sword ever made)

Why do we love Sanosuke so much? Cause he's the punk. He's a robber, ex-con, and he gets Megumi. His history like everyone elses is sad. As a kid he was an orphan, but was taken in by the Sekihou Tai. The government used them as a martyr and killed them off after they made the government look good by getting rid of them. That's why he got the jacket saying "Aku" which means something of bad or sin. He then learned to hate the Meiji government until Kenshin set him straight. Later on he learns the Futae no Kiwami, basically a really powerful punch. He also beats up this guy named Anji in the Shi-Shi-o saga, and he buys time for Kenshin when he fights Shi-Shi-O. He proves his worth in the group in the end.

Sanosuke after he met Kenshin:



Sanosuke is a good friend of Kenshin's. They started out as enemies, but after Kenshin defeated him, he followed through with a lecture that reminded Sano of how his idol, Sagara-taichou, used to talk.

Sano likes to spend his time gambling and drinking. He also never turns down a fight. He tends to rush into things, which often results in him getting hurt. He also has an incredible stamina, and takes hits a lot more easily than most people. He won't quit until he's practically unconscious.
Sano used to be a fighter-for-hire, but now he's just a freeloader. He gets free food at the Kamiya Dojo, so why bother working? He also used to carry a Zanbattou, which is a HUGE sword. This was broken by Kenshin. Now, he uses his fists all the time, and is still a formidable fighter. He's also incredibly fast, which is a result of him using the extremely heavy Zanbattou.

Sanosuke always wears a simple white shirt and pants. On the back of his shirt is the symbol of "aku" (ˆ«), which means "bad". Many think he wears it to enhance his "bad guy" character, but he really wears it to remind himself of the label the Sekihoutai were given when they were denounced as a false army--one of the many things he hates about the government.

During the Meiji Revolution he was a hitokiri in the service of the Shinsen Gumi. Due to his bloodthirsty nature, however, the Shinsen Gumi tried to have him killed. But he simply killed the assassins they sent after him. In the years following, Jin-E made a game of killing corrupt government officials for sport. He would announce his target and the day/time of his attack. Then, he would kill the official, as well as any police, guards, or bystanders in his way. During this period he was referred to most often as "Kurogasa" in reference to the black hat he wore. His killing streak ended with his duel with Kenshin Himura, during which he fell to Kenshin's sword-and-sheath battoujutsu and had his sword arm permanently mangled. He subsequently killed himself.

Seeing you only makes me want to destroy all of which I see of you.

To see your title to get that title, The Best of The Best for my Comrades sakes,

You drive me mad with this furry of hatred and loathing, so mad that now I have defeated and almost killed my own master...

What is the deal? I dont understand how you can live this way! Always protecting the ones you care for, no guilt shown....unless...


You hide it just like I do, but In a differnt way.. A way so keen, that no one can tell unless the stare into those mysterously purple eyes, the ones that have seen you kill, seen you at your best.

That's how you do it, Now I understand you. Not that hard once you get past your hiding..

" Until I come kill you... Dont let anyone beat me too it."

That is what I sid to you.. that day, the day they died for the sake of me living.. how can I repent? For what I have done? Sit and do nothing? Or try to live my life right?

Smile Frozen In The Rain

Welcome to this one's small cabin near the remains of the Sixt Gate Shrine in the mountains of Kyoto Japan. Of course the Six Gate Shrine burned after the assult of Shishio Makoto! Luckily this one's elder brother Kenshin was there to save Japane from his beleifs of "The weak die and the strong live, thus the weak become food for the strong." Such nasty ideals... Now his soul rests in the belly of Leviyathen, the montser of the 7th gate of Limbo, "He who is looked upon by no one but his summoner".

Here she makes a living by visiting the under laying villages that are not supported by the ever fetil Meji Government as of yet. So in hopes of forming a better country, this one travels to the villages to cure the sick and heal the wounded for she is a Preistess of Purity. You housed a monster.. a burnt one at that...



He taught you that the weak die and the strong live off of the weak's flesh.......

You workd for his ambishtions for so long, livening the way of the " Heaven's Sword" The for ever smiling boy...

Until that very day your finaly fight with that man... you crack, he consumes you with hatred and ut most loathing




Who is right? Who is wrong? These questions consume your every being, Shishio says you are at fault for your endless smiles....




This man.. is he truely right?Must you find and make your own paths?
