Aoshi Shinomori aka Okashira of the Edo Castle Oniwabanshuu

Welcome to this one's small cabin near the remains of the Sixt Gate Shrine in the mountains of Kyoto Japan. Of course the Six Gate Shrine burned after the assult of Shishio Makoto! Luckily this one's elder brother Kenshin was there to save Japane from his beleifs of "The weak die and the strong live, thus the weak become food for the strong." Such nasty ideals... Now his soul rests in the belly of Leviyathen, the montser of the 7th gate of Limbo, "He who is looked upon by no one but his summoner".

Here she makes a living by visiting the under laying villages that are not supported by the ever fetil Meji Government as of yet. So in hopes of forming a better country, this one travels to the villages to cure the sick and heal the wounded for she is a Preistess of Purity. Shinomori Aoshi is cool, calm, cold, handsome, and expressionless. Behind his usual cool exterior hides his soft side, as he cares a lot for the Oniwabanshuu. He even risks his life to prove that the Oniwabanshuu is the greatest fighting force.

After the Bakumatsu, Aoshi was offered many high-ranking jobs, but he rejected all of them and chose to stay with the Oniwabanshuu because of his committment to the other Oniwabanshuu members.


Why do we love Aoshi? He's the obligatory sexy male of the series obviously. Kenshin isn't sexy enough, Saito is too evil, and Sanosuke is the punk, so that leaves the role to Aoshi. His hitory is sort of unknown. He becomes the leader of the Oniwa Banshu after his dad dies. Then after that he does stuff with them, not really exact on what, but they wind up protecting some idiotic drug dealer who gets whacked by Kenshin. Kenshin whoops Aoshi's ass, but because Aoshi has "nothing to live for" because all of the remaining Oniwa Banshu have died, he vows to come back and kill Kenshin. Then he pops up in the Shi-Shi-O saga. This is when all the Aoshi lovers go crazy, for suddenly he learns a whole shit load of kick ass skillz. In fact, he almost winds up killing Kenshin, but Kenshin does the succession technique on Aoshi so he loses. Then during the Shi-Shi-O fight, Aoshi pops up to buy time for Kenshin to get back up. After that he doesn't do much except for do the tea ceremony with Kenshin.
