   Good Day!

Well, I had a lovely weekend. I spent Friday night at my friend Jen's house playing Smash Brothers and Mario Party with her and her boyfriend. Then the three of us went into the city (Chicago) on Saturday. We basically spent the whole day at the Museum of Science and Industry. Originally we were planning on visiting Chinatown as well, but it was so hot (97-100 degrees) outside that the idea of walking out in it wasn't the most appealing. But I am still a little bit sad, because I've never been to Chinatown before T_T Oh well.

Anyway, I was a bit bored a couple days ago, so I started drawing some cartoons. I think I'm going to post them, since I haven't added any new art in a long time *hehe*

   Crazyness...

Well, my littlest sister's birthday is tomorrow (today if you read this on Wednesday). She's turning 10. God, I feel old. And my brother is going to be 7 in October. So weird. Anyway, so I asked her what language she wanted to learn the most for her birthday. Being that she shares a good deal of the genes that I do, she said Japanese. So I told her that she had to wait a couple of months and that she would get a really kick-ass present. I didn't say what, of course. What I'm getting her is some Rosetta Stone language software. Of course, when I say kick-ass, I'm not kidding. It teaches language, reading, writing, and can supposedly check your voice for correct pronunciation if you have a microphone set up. It's so kick-ass, in fact, that I'm going to have to shell 300 bucks out for it. Hence the waiting period (which actually won't be that long, so I'll get to surprise her with it early ^_^). The good news is (a) I can steal it to help me with my homework in the fall and (b) my little brother can borrow it and learn as well. Go bilingual family!

Grarrgh!

*rolls through the door at 3:15 am* I just got back from seeing the midnight showing of Pirates of the Caribbean 2. Good stuff. And all I have to say is this. Freakin' Star Wars, man. The old ones. And I'm not just talking about the Kraken. I know I'm not making sense now, but I will once you see the movie (and once I've had some sleep ^_^). Of course, if you've never seen the old Star Warses... Wars'? Then you still won't know what I mean. And if you have, you might have figured it out already. But whatever. It's great. Go see it. Laugh. Have fun. Best 4 bucks I ever spent. Yay for ghetto theaters!

   I'm Back! Weeeee!

I hate viruses. They make me angry *bitch-slaps computer virus* It was such a pain in the ass to try and save my files. And I didn't realise how many pages I had saved in my favorites until I had to write them all down O_O

But, everything is all groovy now. Well, mostly. I still have to re-install Microsoft Office *clenches fist* Curses!

So, I had a lot of spare time recently. Apparently I spend a shit load of my day online. I had so much time, in fact, that I re-read all of my Saiyuki and Saiyuki Reload mangas (13 volumes total) as well as my Juvenile Orion mangas (5 volumes) the last of which I'm reading right now ^_^ It was fun to refresh my memories on stuff. God I love those series'. Anyway, so yeah, I will now begin the process of reading everybody's entries that I've missed. Time to swim through some archives *dashes off*

   Craziness

I got a new car today ^_^ My old one is really on it's last legs, so yeah. I'm going to have to spend all summer (and more probably) paying back my parents. *sobs* I'm going to be so broke! But I guess that's the way it goes *sigh*

Seeing as how Magnus can't hear the song playing in my background, I thought I'd be nice for once and post the lyrics for her. Also, I'm going to post the lyrics for the song I didn't use, just for the hell of it ^_^

"Drops of Jupiter" by Train

Now that shes back in the atmosphere
With drops of jupiter in her hair, hey, hey
She acts like summer and walks like rain
Reminds me that theres time to change, hey, hey
Since the return from her stay on the moon
She listens like spring and she talks like june, hey, hey

Tell me did you sail across the sun
Did you make it to the milky way to see the lights all faded
And that heaven is overrated

Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star
One without a permanent scar
And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there

Now that shes back from that soul vacation
Tracing her way through the constellation, hey, hey
She checks out mozart while she does tae-bo
Reminds me that theres time to grow, hey, hey

Now that shes back in the atmosphere
Im afraid that she might think of me as plain ol jane
Told a story about a man who is too afraid to fly so he never did land

Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
And head back to the milky way
And tell me, did venus blow your mind
Was it everything you wanted to find
And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there

Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken
Your best friend always sticking up for you even when I know youre wrong
Can you imagine no first dance, freeze dried romance five-hour phone
Conversation
The best soy latte that you ever had . . . and me

Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
And head back toward the milky way

"I Will Follow You Into The Dark" by Death Cab For Cutie

Love of mine some day you will die
But I'll be close behind
I'll follow you into the dark

No blinding light or tunnels to gates of white
Just our hands clasped so tight
Waiting for the hint of a spark

If heaven and hell decide
That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark

In Catholic school as vicious as Roman rule
I got my knuckles brusied by a lady in black
And I held my tongue as she told me
"Son fear is the heart of love"
So I never went back

If heaven and hell decide
That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark

You and me have seen everything to see
From Bangkok to Calgary
And the soles of your shoes
are all worn down
The time for sleep is now
It's nothing to cry about
Cause we'll hold each other soon
In the blackest of rooms

If heaven and hell decide
That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark
Then I'll follow you into the dark

Depressing, eh? I still like it though. It's such a soft, mellow song. It often gets compared to "Such Great Heights", if any of you know that song. They used a remake of it once in an M&M commercial. Or, I think it was the remake. I can't remember. I know there's at least two versions. Anyway, I know that "I Will Follow You Into The Dark" sounds like a kind of suicidal song, but that's not the way I interpret it (even if it was meant that way ^_^). It reminds me of those stories you hear of couples who die right around the same time, from what most people call "heartache", or simply the loss of the will to live without someone. Of course, if you look at the grand scheme of time and human history, one life span isn't really all that long, and is essentialy a short time before you die. Then there's also the whole religious aspect to the song. Kind of like he saying, if there's no place for you in the traditional view of the afterlife, then there's none for me either. So the song can be taken plenty of ways ^_^ I like those.

-Quote of the Day-

   I Lied... Teehee...

Ok, so I finally got a new theme. It just isn't the one I said I was going to do. I thought, what the hell, I want to make a Train and Saya theme. So I did. But then the little voice in my head that wanted a Domeki theme started to cry, so I had to make it happy with my avatar. I'll give Domeki his own theme next time. Anyway, I'm using "Drops of Jupiter" because I've always thought that most of the lyrics could easily be thought of as applying to someone who died, while at the same time, it's not too depressing (you should all be happy that I didn't use Death Cab for Cutie's "I Will Follow You Into The Dark", because everyone would leave the site crying ^_^) Plus, the song's by Train. Hehehe, I love coincidences.

Anyway, I decided to make a theme to Train and Saya because their relationship was so tragic. It's kind of like when a child dies. So much promise and potential cut short before it has a chance. It has that same unfair feeling. So sad T_T

   Freedom!

Woooh! My cousin has finally gone home. I have my room back! Well, technically she was sleeping my sister's room since Erica has a trundle bed, but she spent the rest of the two weeks hang around in my room and following me everywhere. It's cute when your relatives are little. It's a pain in the ass when they're 22. Anyway, so that's the main reason for my extremely spaced posts recently. I've been focusing all my energy on keeping my sanity in the incessant presence of a person who whines, likes really (and I mean really) bad movies, thinks Fruits Basket is boring (I nearly killed her for that one), won't shut-up, and needs attention every five seconds. Gah! Why can't I ever be a a bitch to people so that they'll just leave me the hell alone. Stupid niceness *mutters*

Anyway, in much pleasanter news, I went to my orientation for NIU (the new school I'm transfering to in the fall) on Monday. I learned quite a bit, so I think it's worth the sun and heat induced headache I developed. I really like the campus, all my classes are in the same building (since I already have my associates, all my classes are for my major ^_^), and there's some campus legend about a ghost in the Law library (gotta check that one out *grin*). So yeah, good day.

   Ooops...

You know, it just occured to me today that some people might have no clue what book I was talking about. Hehheh. Ok, The Divine Comedy was written around the 1300's by an Italian poet named Dante Alighieri. It's a description of his view of the Christian afterlife, which is divided into three sections; Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven. Now, the most famous of these three is his description of Hell, often published on it's own under the name Dante's Inferno. Most people are more familiar with that than the work as a whole. And really, there isn't anything comedic about the work. It was called a "comedy" because, in Dante's day, there were two kinds of poetry; High (Tragedy) and Low (Comedy), and because Dante wrote it in the Italian language, which was considered low and vulgar, it was a comedy.
Now, as for my quote of the day in my last entry, I enjoy that line so much because it is a reference to The Divine Comedy. Dante divides Hell into nine levels. The first is a pleasant but sorrowful place for the unbaptized and those vituous pagans born before the birth of Christ, and each level after contains punishments of greater and greater severity depending on the sins of the souls, leading up to the final level, where Satan himself resides, and those who committed what Dante considered to be the deepest sin, betrayal to a master or benefactor, are punished. So yeah. And really, for a work that a surprising number of people have never even heard of, it is very important and influential. Along with Milton's Paradise Lost, it really helped to form our perceptions of the more... unpleasant side of the Christian afterlife, considering the fact that the Bible really says very little about Hell and Satan. And now that I've apparently given a miniature lecture on all this, I'll be on my way ^_^

-Quote of the Day-
"It is a peculiarity of our side of the family that as we grow older, we start to remember all the horrible details of our childhood. On the day he died, my grandfather told me he had just remembered the very moment of his own birth. In fact, I rather think it was the shock of that particular memory that killed the old boy."

   Time To Shake It Up!

As you can see, I'm working on a new theme. Hehehe. I mentioned a while ago that I was going to make Domeki from xxxHoLic my new theme, so yeah. Time to get to work... finding someone to help me!

Anyway, in literary news, I went to Borders and picked-up a really nice copy of The Divine Comedy with the ever famous illustrations by Gustave Dore. Woooooh! I finally get to read Purgatorio and Paradiso. So exciting. I just want to hug that book all the time. I'm also glad that the translation doesn't rhyme. There's really no point in trying to warp the translation since it's true rhythm and structure is lost in the transition to English anyway. I'll take accuracy over asthetics any day.

   Hehehe...

Sorry for not being online for the past couple of days *bashful grin* My cousin's been visiting since Thursday so yeah.

Anywho, my guess on the failure of a true fight to develop between Naruto and Sasuke was correct. Damn interuptions! *random bout of swearing* I could feel that it probably wasn't going to happen though. *grumbles*

Anyway, I really don't have much to say as of late. I'll think of something to talk about later ^_^ Au revoir!
