Craziness
Ok, it’s time for me to obsess over something non-anime related today. I decided to check out a TV series that I’d been meaning to watch for a while, called Dexter. You might have heard of it, or at least caught a glimpse of a commercial for it. It’s based on a book series by an author named Jeff Lindsay. It’s about a forensic expert for the Miami police department named Dexter Morgan who specializes in blood spatter analysis. Sounds like your typical CSI / Without a Trace stuff right? Well, wrong. The catch is that Dexter secretly happens to be a serial killer himself, and his victims of choice are other murderers. I mean, don’t get things wrong, he’s completely insane, but it’s a very focused insanity. During the first episode they had flash-backs to when he was a kid with his foster-father who was a homicide detective. Apparently Dexter was one of those kids who killed animals, and as many of you probably know, that’s an early sign of homicidal/psychopathic tendencies. The really disturbing thing, in my mind, is not that Dexter’s a psycho, but that his father, instead of taking him to get help, trained him how to chose his victims and not get caught.
But all in all, it is a rather interesting look at a seriously messed up person, and how he carries out fake social relationships and hides his real personality. Not to mention the lack of human emotion. It’s very compelling. Anywho, here’s a little clip-thingy about the show. Enjoy.
-Quotations of the Day- Dexter: “There’s something strange and disarming about looking at a homicide scene in the daylight of Miami. It makes the most grotesque killings look staged, like you’re in a new and daring section of Disney World: Dahmerland!”
LaGuerta: “So then he must have already had the head with him in the front seat. Huh, that's weird. Why would he keep it there?” Dexter: “I don't know. So he could use a carpool lane.”
Dexter: (Voice over) “She's the only person in the world who loves me. I think that's nice. I don’t have feelings about anything, but if I could have feelings at all, I’d have them for Deb.”
Dexter: (Voice over) “Needless to say I have some unusual habits, yet all these socially acceptable people can't wait to pick up hammers and smash their food to bits. Normal people are so hostile.”
-Dexter- (yes, I am blatantly padding my entry so as to draw attention away from it's shortness ^_^)
One of my friends posted this on her facebook. Absolutely hilarious.
