Tada!

Yes, I return! After nearly… *looks at calendar* Holy Crap! Has it really been almost a month? Damn, the time around finals is a real killer. But it may please you to know that I have tried to keep up with reading everyone’s entries, even if I didn’t have time to comment. Stalker-ish? Possibly. But such is life.

Now, to catch-up on my life for you guys. Ummm, well, stuff happened. I worked. I took some tests. And that’s pretty much it. Finals has a way of reducing your life to the most essential of functions. Although… I did have one interesting weekend. See, my friend turned 21 on the 1st, so I drove out to Western Illinois University with a couple of friends to visit her. Of course, the night before we planned to leave, it snowed at least 12 inches. But somehow I got talked into going anyway. So, 4 hours after leaving, we arrived at my friend’s house in Macomb. There was much confusion over exactly where she lived and where we were to park. After that, we all went to a local club, where I was once again reminded why I hate such places, not mention my brain-dead, alcohol-swilling peers. Later on, as we were leaving the bar/club at 2 am to return to my friend’s house, I get pulled over by a cop for not turning my headlights on (hey, there were a shit-load of lights at that intersection and I was tired!) The fun part was, I was still driving on a speeding ticket, so I’m sure that didn’t look all that good either. Naturally, I had to get out and have a light shined in my eye, but I don’t drink, so I didn’t really care. And, as if my night weren’t exciting enough, I woke up the next morning to discover that my car had been towed. Apparently, the short drive where my friend had told us to park was private property. Whoops. But I made the others who came with me pitch-in for the bill, so it wasn’t too bad. All in all, it was enough excitement for a month.

Now, last night was my first official day of freedom, so I went to the movies to see Eragon with my friend Jessica. We’ve both read the books, so we were really excited. And while we did have a great time, it was unfortunately at the expense of the movie. About every five minutes, we were cracking jokes about some annoying or nonsensical plot change. After about 30 minutes, we had lost all respect for the plot and by the end, Jessica had managed to make a joke about hot-pants (you would have understood if you were there). There were some good points, however. I thought that the actors cast to play both Brom and Murtagh were excellent picks. You can’t go wrong with Jeremy Irons, no matter how hard you try. And the guy who played Murtagh had an excellent shady look about him, as if it were hard to tell whether or not to trust him. The minute I saw him first appear I poked Jessica and said, “Okay, that was definitely Murtagh over there.” Unfortunately, his character was very much marginalized, which annoyed me, because he was my favorite character in the book. Curses.

On another note, curse you Myui! After you put that link to Ozy and Millie in your post, I got hooked on the comic. Like I need any more of a reason to waste my time on the internet. On a high note, however, Ozy is now my favorite comic character ^_^ Hmm, I wonder if it’s narcissistic to like characters because they remind you of yourself…
