With it being my one year anniversary of being a myotaku member on sunday, I thought to celebrate I would post chapter 14 of the Offences of Ogres.
so enjoy.
Chapter 14
Mantra Colapadadle
Pain had hardly found this training session fun. First Ryo had got his leg stuck in a rope whilst climbing it and then hitting his head on the wall. Lucy had taken away his chance of doing something during target practice when she incinerated all of the targets and Ryu had destroyed the sparing dummies when he sliced them in half, just to show off.
After all this they were taken to the sparing room. Lanca II explained that it was perfect to practice combat because it was a large white room that is totally empty. Pain smiled for once at the thought that he may get the chance to do something, even better was that he might be allowed to beat up Ryo. But apparently they weren’t ready for it. Pain went back to his moody self. Ryo, Ryu and Rin however decide to object in a louder manner.
‘What do ya mean were not ready! I’m the best beginner in this place!’ Ryo bellowed.
‘Shut up, Ryo. Mr. Starme, You said yourself that you said yourself that we were pretty advanced for our age. Can’t we please just train a little?’ Rin asked, while giving Lanca II the puppy dog look.
‘Listen, Starme. These idiots may not be ready but I am! I’ll take on anyone!’
‘Listen, all of you!’ Izumi yelled’
‘She’s got a set of lungs in her,’ Ryo thought to himself.
‘The reason you may not train in here is for your safety! I’m not explaining to the doctor’s why Pain has cut of Ryo’s head or why miss Sato has burnt Ryo to a crisp!’
‘Hey…what’s everyone’s problem with me?’ Ryo asked meekly.
‘That’s it. Miss Shindo, Mr Toya and Mr Shindo. You will not be doing your field assignments tomorrow! Instead you will write a 2000 word essay on the role of an MCBS member. Is that understood!’
‘Yes, Ms. Fujisaki.’ All three of them said in unison.
‘I expected more from you Miss Shindo.’ With that, she walked away.
The next day Ryo got up bright and early to start his essay. He may be a joker, but he took any assignment seriously. Ryo stared at his blank piece of paper, while taping a pencil against his head. After five minutes he began to write.
The Role of an MCBS (Mantra Colapadadle Bodyguard Society) member is to become the best they can be so they can help all people across the world. Weather they be rich or poor, strong or weak, smart or stupid.
The MCBS was not only established to protect those who need protection to help the helpless. It was established to promote unity between the world. Meaning that an MCBS member would work globally to ensure safety.
‘This is hard.’ Ryo said to himself. ‘Why can’t I be doing my field assignment. I didn’t make that promise to write essays…’
In Mekishiko street there was a butchers. This butcher shop was famous throughout Mantra Colapadadle. The man who owned it was an honest businessman who had no better thrill than seeing the smile on a customer. Well, there was one thing and that was spending time with his family.
The man, who will now be referred to as Kenzo Sato, was a peace loving man and hated conflict. Except for tourists, he couldn’t stand tourists.
5 years ago in Mantra Colapadadle…
‘Good work today son.’
‘Thanks dad.’
‘You know, I can’t wait for the day I pass this butcher shop on to you, my lad. Yes sir, that will be the proudest and happiest day of my life. Remember though son, your sister is a couple of minutes older but you will inherit this place. You may only be nine years old but you sure work like a man. I was 14 before your grandfather let me even look after the shop for 5 minutes when he went for a brew.’
Kenzo had a beautiful wife. She was loving and caring. She was Shizuka Sato, the mother of Rin and Ryo. They were named after Kenzo’s father and Shizuka’s mother. But tragedy struck when the children were 6 years old. Giving birth to twins was not easy, and it had affected her health. She was not as physically strong as she used to be. Thus when she was infected with an illness, her body could not fight it.
Kenzo had helped his children to get through this difficult time and now they, once again, lived a happy care free life. However, this would only last for another 3 years…
