Fun School Quotes
Ha, 'fun' 'school' it's an oxymoron (for me)! K, I'm done with the hyperness for a moment. I really need to stop eating so much sugar. Anyway, welcome to the first installment of "Fun school Quotes", comprised of just random things I found amusing during class.

Today's quotes are all from my AP Physics textbook:

"Atlas, of Greek Mythology, bore the world on his shoulders, but that, too, wouldn't qualify as work in the physics definition."

"Another name for the newton-meter is Joule (rymes with pool)."

"Similarly, a student pressing against a wall for hours doing isometric exercises also does no work, because the displacement is Zero*. ::skip to fine print on bottom of page:: Note*: Acually, you DO expend energy while doing isometric excersizes, because your muscles are continuously contracting and relaxing in the process. This internal muscular movement qualifies as work according to the physics deffinition."

(talking about frictional work) "Otherwise, the rope would slip in his hands and exert no force on the sled, while his feet slid out from underneath him and he fell flat on his face."
