...it's my favorite, Gohan! This is probably going to be a really long post so I've got pictures of him at many different ages.

So......here I am, back from the convention! Did you miss me? I'm thinking no since only 4 people commented on my last post, but that's cool. I'm going to try to get back to doing more stuff here this week. I was just so busy getting ready last week that I really couldn't. Anyway, it was soooo much fun! Working as a volunteer is really cool b/c you get a lot of extra stuff that regular attendees don't like a special shirt and badge, discounts in the dealer's room, and all the important people will talk to you a lot more readily. Unfortunately a lot of the people who are supposed to be volunteers either don't show up or just don't do their jobs well so the 10 of us who were left had to do a whole hell of a lot to help the staff out. It was ok though, I think I would have gotten bored if I didn't have things to do. I ended up not taking a whole lot of pictures though since I was working most of the time, but I think I know where I can find some.

OK, so let me give you a rundown of the weekend. Friday morning we had a meeting at 9:30 so I left Gainesville really early. After the meeting I checked into the hotel and put my stuff away. Then I had to work from noon-3 at the information table. This probably wasn't the best thing for me to do first since I didn't really have any information so I had to keep asking other people to answer the questions I got, but I got it figured out pretty quickly. I had a couple hours off after that which was when I did most of my shopping. Then I had to work 5-8 in the dealers's room. That was a boring job, let me tell you. Walk in circles, look for people stealing, talk to a dealer or guest, walk in circles some more......three hours of that felt like about three years. The room actually closed at 7 but from 7-8 we had to help the dealers cover merchandise and make sure no one tried to get back in the room. I ended up waiting till almost 9 for someone to come lock the door after everyone was out which was kind of a pain, but I had a lot of stuff I'd bought with me so I could look through it. I finally got to get some dinner after that and then I went to a couple of panels (in my Hello Kitty pjs!). At midnight the volunteer coordinator came and asked me if I could sit up all night and guard some equipment in a room that wasn't supposed to be locked so I said sure since staying up is really no big deal for me. The panel ended at 2am and then I went over to the room till about 4 when the convention organizer showed up with the key and decided to lock it after all.

Saturday I slept in till 11:30ish and then kind of hung around in my room doing stuff till 3 when I went back to work guarding the door to the dealers' room (you have to keep out people who don't have badges or armbands) till about 8 again. After that I had dinner and then went to work in the game room, keeping people with drinks out. That was a pretty cool job, probably my favorite one actually if it weren't for the smelly gamers in there. The staff guy that was in charge of the room was really cool and all I had to do was sit at a table and watch people coming in. We got bored after a while and pulled some paper off the chart that listed the tournaments they were holding and started drawing on it. Then all these random people started coming along and asking if they could draw on it too so by the end of the night we had three full pages of giant paper covered in little drawings that we hung on the wall. We did have a little excitement during that time, we almost set the convention center on fire! Well, ok, not really....but the smoke machine that the Wasabi Anime guys had running at the rave party in the room next door set off the fire alarm and we had to evacuate the whole place for an hour! It was actually kind of cool for us although I doubt it would have been very fun for the regular people there. After we finally got back in I had to stay in the game room till 1am so I missed most of the party but I still went and danced for the last hour so it was pretty cool. They were showing old 80's movie and anime clips on the screen the whole time and playing remixes of old songs.

Sunday
AJ-kun came to the convention with his aunt. He came to my hotel room and did my hair and makeup and I put on my Yukari costume (he was dressed as Kyo from Furuba) and we walked around for a while. I had to go to the prejudging for the costume contest at noon and then the contest itself was at 2:30 so I didn't work much that day. I was really nervous about the contest, but it was a lot of fun. I didn't win any awards or anything, but it was still a great experience. Also, I was pretty confident that my costume was better than a lot of other people's even if it wasn't the best so that made me happy. Unfortunately, AJ told me he was going to video tape me on stage but then he decided to go to Sandy Fox's panel instead so there are no pictures of me in that outfit in my posession. However, several official looking photographers took my picture at different points during the day so hopefully there will be one in some sort of publication or website in the future. Maybe I'll wear it again if we go to Megacon in February or J-Con in April. We'll see....anyway, after the contest I went back to work in the dealers' room again and helped them close up and everything and then at around 6pm I finally came home. I was sooooo tired. Actually, I'm still really tired which is why I'm making this post in the evening and not at midnight.

Tomorrow I'll write about what I'm doing this week and all the cool stuff I bought at the convention! Tomorrow's theme was requested by
Ruri-chan. Don't hold out for the convention pics anytime soon b/c I don't have any money to develop them! *hugs* Have a great week everyone!
