ITS ALIVE!! (skip to the italics if you want fact)
The creature crawled from the shadows and a low rumbling sound emitted from its throat. It loked vaguely human, but something wasnt quite right about it.
The watcher felt fear rise up in his belly like bad seafood making its comeback. The creature, which had been looking at the ground up until now, snapped its head up to face him. The watcher could have sworn he saw its teeth flash brilliant white, but even more striking were its eyes. Like blue bolts of bottled lightning, they shown in the darkness, and the watcher began to break out into sweat.
The previously slow moving being from the shadows suddenly sprung forward like a blur. The watcher fell backwards ready to scream when the End came. But come it did not. Before him sat not a monster from the depths of time and stone, but a boy, though not a normal one, that much was certain. He appeared to be in his late teen years; lean, but all muscle. His raven black hair dropped into his nearly luminescent eyes, causing him to absently brush it aside, but to no avail.
"What, no 'Who or what the hell are you?!' or anything?" he asked conversationally. His voice wasnt yet that of a man, but he spoke with a fluidity and power that was not the speech of someone so young. The watcher made no reply. What was with this kid? He couldn't quite place what scared him so much about the boy, but he didn't like it.
The kid, as the watcher had come to think of him, cocked his head to one side and blinked. it reminded the watcher of a dog. he distractedly groped behind him for something, but never took his eyes off the watcher. the watcher could feel his gaze studying him. The kid seemed to find what he was looking for and pulled up a tail like that of dog.
The watcher felt his eyes bulge from his sockets. The was it! This kid was a demon come to take his soul! He had to be, right? He began to feel for his gun, but it nowhere to be found. He looked at the boy, who was now playing with something. ADD demon huh? The watcher fought the strange, suicidal urge to laugh and it was about to win when he realized the thing the kid was screwing with was his gun. The watcher opened his mouth to say something, but his mind choked on the words as he lunged for his fire-arm.
The kid lifted it away and the watcher fell on his face. "Ah ah ah, is that any way to treat a guest?" the kid asked, not entirely mockingly.
"Ok, since you don't seem to wanna talk, I'll start," he stated matter-of-factly. Now the watcher thought he sounded like a little kid.
"So it was spring break and was just minding my own business being a nerd. Sitting at a computer in my Nerv tee-shirt and waiting for Evangelion to load up on Youtube, ye ken? I guess I sorta dozed off and ended up here," he scratched his head and chuckled a little at this part. "Oh well," he sighed. "Hey, this a pretty nice side arm," he continued. "Sandalwood grip, six-round revolving chamber, clean as a whistle." Both the kid's and the watcher's eyes widened simultaniously.
"Are you a gunslinger?!" they cried in unison.
"So you aren't a mute," the boy said with a smile. "Good to know," he added.
The boy tossed the watcher his gun, who boggled it a little before reholstering it, then stood up and stretched. The watcher's hazel eyes followed the boy as he turned around and began to walk off.
"Hey drama queen!" Eddie Dean of New York called after him. "Cut the crap and answer my question: Are you a gunslinger?" he restated his question as if he were talking to someone with a rudimenary grasp of the english language, emphasizing each word. The boy stopped and looked over his shoulder. "Nope, just a Stephen King fan," he said. Eddie the watcher's eyes widened for the umpteenth time that day.
"Yo kid!" he shouted. The boy stopped again and looked around only to get tackled to the ground. "Sorry kid, but i gotta take you in to see my dinh. Whats your name anyway?" Eddie asked, sitting on the boy's chest. The boy grinned, showing his elongated canines. "Zadkiel Kakeru of God-only-knows-where. Eddie Dean of New York, I'd be happy to go palaver with Roland," the boy said smugly. Eddie's smile slid off his face. Zadkiel rolled and now sat on Eddie's chest, his hands crossed over his throat like twin knives. "But I'm not letting you take me in," he said with cocky grin. That power was back in his voice now. He leaned in close to Eddie's face so that his long hair touched the other man's forehead. "I'm going to let you up, we're going to go meet the rest of your ka-tet and take turns asking questions on the way there, does it do ya fine?" He got up and brushed himself off, leaving Eddie on his back in the dust. "First question: How could you let me get the better of you like that? Have you forgotten the face of your father?" The boy was supressing a smile and Eddie could see it. "Technically that's two questionsm," the watcher responded. They both both burst into laughter.
so how did you all like my spin off of Stephen King's Dark tower series? this was originally going to be a third person post, but my imagination started runing. but yeah, i was just posting while waiting for part 1 of "The end of evangelion" to load on youtube. anyway, i might just run with this. if you get a chance, pick up "The Gunslinger" by stephen king, its a really good book. I'm on book six out of seven, so im pretty far along. im thinking of somehowe emailing stephen king and telling him that im writing a spin off of his work. but this post is getting really really long, so i'll post about the rest of my life later. bye!
