Holiday cheer
The foggy cold morning set in.The sub zero tempature made the day all the colder. My trench coat tight as possible. My rifle was slinged over my shoulder and walked down the frozen trenches. The graves of hundreds of souls quaked as the clouds moved and the snow dripped down in the frosty land. Sniper rounds were the only thing that disturbed the feild of war.Killing curious soldiers. It was christmass. The day passed smoothly. No one died yet. A group of soldiers begun to sing some christmas carrols. There voices smooth in the rough cold wind. Oddly enough the sound of sniper fire ceased. More fires began to rise up. More singing began to build. What started as one snow flake turned into a raging roar of hundreds of men. Cheering and dancing. Soon some soldiers began to peak over head and see the other side doing the same. One guy, billy, not the brightest of all stood up! He wasnt guned, shot, destoryed, bombed or anything. He just kept singing and dancing.
adventualy another guy joined him from the other side. More and more joined. Adventually everyone was in the middle of the feild dancing and singing sharing food and water. Lighting fires and happily cheering; when 24 hrs ago they where shooting and throwing grenades. They took off there helmets, played cards, sat and enjoyed the area. Christmas eve was known for ever as the day that Earth stood still in war. Everyone was happy. some soldiers even made snow men. By the time the holiday was over a treaty was signed and the gap between the trenches was filled with snow men and women. All in different stances in memory of friends and family. Even alittle singing and holiday cheer can soften the toughest beast.
