Time to get all Philosophical up in this post
Well, it seems everywhere i go i hear something about religion. I have always been fascniated by religion, for both the good it does in the world, and also for all the harm it has caused the world. This fascination has lead me to study it from an outsiders pont of view. I havent been religious since i was 12, and from that point on i have been an agnostic: one who says it is wrong to either say there is a god, or isnt a god.
there is no real way to tell whether there is a creator in this universe. Some look around at the world and say that is proof enough, but if there is a creator, who created the creator? and is there a beginning and an end? the world is full of dualistic properties: light and dark, positive and negative, yin and yang. But is everything in this universe dualistic? Once again, there is no way to tell for sure.
One of the things i have come to know is that the Christian version of god may be false. some call me an atheist, but an atheist is someone who believes there is no god or creator. If i dont believe the Christian god exists, then i must be an atheist. But that is a narrow point of view. There are many gods people believe in, who is to say which one is real or not?
u cant for sure, but given the way Christianity has made such a perfect entity in an imperfect world, it makes almost no sense. there very well may be a god who is benevolent, but maybe this god makes mistakes and tragedies occur, or maybe god isnt as powerful as we would like him to be. Or maybe god isnt as benevolent as we would like him to be. there is no way to tell. But the perfect image does not fit what happens in this world, or even with the image bestowed in the bible, especially when comparing God in the old testament and the new testament.
God in the old testament is basically a wrathful deity that punishes everyone for the sins of a few. He even punishes those who do not sin at all. The 10th plague of Egypt where the first borns are killed, the story of David and his son, where David rapes a woman and then his son is the one that has to appease God. Then in the new testament God is forgiving to anyone who seeks forgiveness, instead of killing everyone who sins. The image is a contradiction, both in the bible and in the world.
I do not condemn the church. It is people who make their own decisions. It just makes sense to me that people who choose to live their life in a certain way know what exactly it is. I choose to live my life in my own way, and i choose to question it everyday. There is no reason to fear questioning the way you live your life. Without those questions, u might find out later on that you have lived ur life much more differently than you would have liked.
Thank you, and good night, cause im hungry.
