*Sweat* Its not very good and I just want some pointers on how it could be better... So... i'd really love it if you guys... read a bit of it and told me how i could improve and stuff... k? ^^'
Its called:
SONGS:
“The chamber echoed with her soft singing, sitting alone on her bed of silk. She opened her eyes but continued to sing, her words revealing the bitterness and regret that she held in her heart…”
Selena stumbled back giving a grunt of shock and held a shaking hand to the fresh wound running along the side of her neck, she felt warm blood trail down her arm and she bit her lip trying not to whimper in pain. Her opponent- a tall man with flaming red hair- stood across from her in the courtyard, his chest heaving and sword in hand but he showed no other sighs of tiring. In fact he was beginning to look extremely angry as he watched her struggling to regain herself.
The young woman stood slumped to one side giving in to a stitch that had been stabbing into her side for the last half hour, she had been training since dawn and it was taking it‘s toll on her body. Shaking her long black hair out of her eyes she tried to force her exhaustion filled mind to focus, as his boots sounded again thundering along the stone path moving swiftly towards her. She could hear his sword singing clearly as he swung it heavenwards. So he wanted to end it quickly. Selena straightened and glared at the approaching man watching closely as his grip tightened around the sword hilt, she could hear the blade tip whistle towards her face.
Parrying sharply to the right she managed to avoid the blow and swung her own blade hard at his chest, he twisted around and swung his blade to meet her. The swords crashed and rang and Selena’s weapon hit the ground clattering noisily and she fell back her arms and legs shaking with exhaustion.
“Pathetic.“ The man voice growled and she glanced up at him with her face contorted with anger and embarrassment, the man sneered and slipping his sword back into place at his hip and turned away striding back up to the castle.
“Hold on!” She called hoarsely and started to run forwards towards him, hastily making to retrieve her fallen sword.
“I am not done-”
“Stop wasting my time.” She froze.
“When you have learned how to put some effort into your fighting, I will consider teaching you. Before that, don‘t come crawling to me claiming that you can beat me, when I have had more of a challenge duelling with one of the serving boys.” He said coolly and Selena watched him walk the rest of the path, her knuckles white around the hilt of her sword and a dull ringing in her ears. When he disappeared from sight behind the large golden doors she deflated in hollow silence, shoulders sagging, and reluctantly staggered over to a stone bench collapsing heavily onto it. Hot sweat ran down her face and into her eyes, causing immense stinging and she wiped it away feeling bitter.
“Stupid old man.” She muttered darkly and pressed a hand to the large wound exposing her throat, the pain ceased as the gash began to slowly mend itself together, but her pride was still hurting. In the distance the golden double doors leading to the courtyard began to open again and three serving ladies flitted out talking loudly and giggling to themselves. Selena, was feeling exceptionally moody and spiteful towards everyone at the moment, was forced to head back inside. Throwing her sword roughly back into its scabbard, she stormed up the path brushing past servants as they made to bow to her and headed up the stairs leading up to the East Tower.
Her temper was towering as she kicked the door open making the four people preoccupying the room jump in surprise and look around at her, she turned on her heel and promptly slammed the door shut again making some dust cascade down from the ceiling. One of the young men with wide deep green eyes stood and hurried over to the fuming girl grabbing her hand gently in his.
“Are you alright?” He asked a little sheepishly.
“Fine.” She snapped wrenching her hand away and kicked off her boots they sailed high in different directions, one narrowly missing a young man’s face and he ducked giving a girlish squeak and cowered theatrically from her rage.
“Oliver giving you a hard time again?” The green eyed man asked cautiously and lead her to a satin covered couch by the unlit fireplace, Selena sighed and sat down her arms crossed tight across her chest. Julius sat quietly next to her rubbing at his knees.
“Don’t worry you will get better, we just need to practice more.” He said quietly while Selena grumbled to herself, glaring out the window at the beautiful afternoon sky.
Toby Laray, who was done his mock cringing from Selena’s wrathful boot had once again spread himself out on his couch, a lop-sided smile on this handsome tanned face. His best friend Michael Devonal sat in front of him closer to the window and beside him was Lady Rebecca Tyness.
“Don‘t get yourself all worked up ‘Lena.” Rebecca said soothingly and looked around at Michael who nodded serenely, Toby snorted when Selena continued to look surly and pulled on a wide grin.
“Selena you could have done worse, stop frowning your getting wrinkles.” He said jokingly and threw a large red and gold pillow at her stooped figure, Julius reached up with a look of annoyance and flung it back hitting Toby squarely in the face.
Selena grinned despite of herself, and Toby chortled good naturedly placing the pillow behind back behind his head.
“We were just discussing the outfit we were going to wear at the party tonight.” Michael said conversationally, and smiled at Selena but she gave a wince.
“ I forgot.” She muttered blushing a little. Rebecca snorted and shook her head.
“I knew it. That’s why I went out of my way to order you a nice dress.” Selena blanched.
“It isn‘t pink again is it?” She asked meekly, but Rebecca didn’t answer and gave her a mischievous smile, which made Selena feel very uncomfortable.
“Oh yes, I remember that day. Selena came into the ball room with that pink dress. She was doing quite good, until she tripped on the helm and fell into the wine bowl.” Toby said imitating her with failing hands and sharp startled scream. Selena pounced on him trying to wrap her hands around his neck. Michael sprang forwards trying to rescue his friend as the door flew open and a tall women with curly golden hair swept into the room. She watched them tussle around a bit before clearing her throat loudly. Selena gave Toby a last withering glare and sat up on his stomach, Toby grinned up at her brushing some hair out of his eyes. Despite other appearances the two were best of friends.
“How do you do good Lady?” Michael asked giving a small smile, the woman nodded at him standing rigidly in front of them all her foot tapping impatiently on the stone floor. When they had all turned their attention to her, she began her long awaited sentence.
“Do you have any idea what time it is?” She asked them with a quiet yet deadly voice.
“Almost five.” Toby said looking out the window at the sky.
“Correct. Now… What are all five of you suppose to be doing today at this time?” The woman snarled and they all looked blankly her.
“The celebration! You are an hour late in helping to prepare!” The women shrieked and they all sat frozen realization dawning on their faces.
“OUT!” She bellowed pointing a long quivering finger at the door and they scattered, bursting threw the door and running down the hall as fast as they could.
Lord Tyness looked out onto the castle grounds where hundreds of people bustling about preparing for the party later that night, banners decorated the sky and tables upon tables of food littered the ground. Music could be heard streaming from the violins and drums as the performers had their last minute rehearsals, and dancers spun about the platform in the haze of smoke. Sudden movement and The Lord turned to watch his five elemental warriors running out into the lawn like their lives depended on it. Toby in the lead his long brown hair flapping wildly in the wind. The reason for their mad scramble across his courtyard was answered by the appearance of a tall regal figure of the woman that followed suit, her eyes burning their backs as they hurried to help with the decorations. Lady Elizabeth working her charm. Lord Tyness chuckled and shook his head feeling amused.
“Robert?” A soft voice floated from behind him and he turned to greet his fiancée, Lady Inada Leoma.
“What is it?” He asked striding towards her and taking her hands in his, she stared up at him with her beautiful wide green eyes.
“I am so nervous.” She whispered laying her head gently on his broad chest, he wrapped an arm around her waist and kissed her mane of long brown hair.
“I am too, but we have waited long for this day.” He said softly and she nodded into his chest.
“I pray to the good spirits that nothing will ruin this for us.” She said her grip tightening on his hand.
“The spirits smile upon us my love, they were the ones who had given us this chance to be together, and they will make sure nothing will happen.”
Finally smiling Inada lifted her head and kissed him.
