Just to warn u guys, this chapter is really long. On word it's 4-5 pages long. No j/k. Okay^^! Enjoy!
Boy were the Gullwings being treated like royalty these days! They had been invited to Bevelle by Grand Maester Mika himself and each of the Gullwings got their own private rooms in the Bevelle Palace. Right now, Wakka, Kimarhi, Lulu, Gippal, and Cid were with Grand Maester Mika being shown around the palace. Auron and Yuna however decided to stay back.
“Any luck?” Auron asked.
He was lying in bed with nothing but a pair of black boxers on, and was sipping rum from his jug.
“Tidus still isn’t answering, Auron, which means his comm.-link’s either switched off or lying in a south sea island trash can somewhere. I just wish I could shake this horrible feeling that his leaving the team had something to do with me,” Yuna said setting her comm-link down on a desk by the doorway.
Yuna was wearing a red, and black robe, since she had just gotten off the shower. The room in Bevelle Palace was very spacious and roomy. It had a great view of the ocean from their room, and a big sphere screen five feet to the left of the bed where Auron resided. There was food from various fast food restaurants strewn across one of two desks placed next to the front door.
“To be honest, I thought you’d be more worried about how Tidus’s little Djose Temple trip was gonna influence Cid’s big meeting at the Bevelle Palace today, Yuna,” Auron said. “I mean, how’s he supposed to talk the Grand Maester into scrapping this whole machina weapon idea when his old gofer’s hurling semtex at a Djose, Yevon owned land?” Auron asked.
“You sound awfully committed for a guy just hanging around the hotel spending Cid’s plastic,” Yuna shot back. “I guess everyone was wrong about you, huh, Auron?” Yuna asked.
“No, Yuna. Everyone was absolutely right,” Auron asked.
Meanwhile, Cid and the rest of the Gullwings were just outside of the Bevelle Palace, being led by Maester Mika and escorted by more than a dozen Yevon soldiers.
“Again, I can only offer my utmost apologies for Djose Temple, Grand Maester,” Cid said. “I just hope this insanity hasn’t changed your mind about the suspension of the Yevon executions.”
“Not a bit Cid. After what you and your team have done for us lately, how could we possibly, justify these indiscriminate attacks on our Al Bhed and Guado population?” the Grand Maester asked. “Everyone pretty much agrees that negotiations are the best way forward now, but there’s still one, execution that must be made, even though we will not be the ones to do it.”
“I’m not sure I follow you, sir,” Cid said.
Gippal and Lulu exchanged worried looks at each other.
“Bikanel Island, Cid. We finally uncovered it’s whereabouts,” Grand Maester Mika said.
“Are you serious?” Cid asked.
Gippal and Wakka immeadietly panicked. Tidus was on that island. If they invaded Bikanel Island, Tidus could be killed. Lulu and Kimarhi were more amazed about the fact that 1. Yevon had such advanced technology, even though they denounced it, and 2. Yevon finally found Bikanel Island.
“To be honest, we’d probably never have found it if it hadn’t been for the Celsius our satellites picked up landing in the area a couple weeks ago,” Nooj said coming over from a computer.
Nooj had come to be one of Yevon’s leading generals during the executions. Grand Maester Mika’s right hand man in fact. But he wasn’t the Nooj he used to be. Not the hero from the Crusaders. He was now a scientist for the most part.
“It was only once we looked a little closer that we realized that what seemed like a scattered rock formation was actually just a complex, three-dimensional hologram,” Nooj explained.
“Way to go, Tidus,” Lulu whispered.
“Quiet, Lulu,” Cid whispered back.
Cid turned toward Grand Maester Mika.
“Does this mean, you’re preparing an attack?” Cid asked in a louder voice.
“Actually, as I’ve said before, we’re not the ones doing the execution. We picked up Sin on radar, and it is actually heading toward Bikanel Island. Why attack Bikanel Island when Sin can do it for us?” Grand Maester Mika explained.
“What’s going on, Cid? Are they going to kill Tidus?” Gippal asked.
Kimarhi and Lulu realized what Gippal was saying and became alarmed about Tidus’s safety as well.
“One of the Gullwings is on that island, Grand Maester Mika,” Cid said, explaining Gippal’s outburst.
“Only because he joined a terrorist Guado group. This isn’t exactly little bo beep we’re talking about here,” Cid said.
“I hope you realize that provoking Seymour like this threatens the life of every man, woman and child on this entire planet?” Cid asked.
“I’m sorry, Cid. That’s a chance we just have to take,” Grand Maester Mika answered.
Even as they spoke Sin was heading towards Bikanel Island, at full speed through the water, slowly rising out of it, and flying into the air.
Meanwhile at Bikanel Island, Tidus looked down at his comm-link that vibrated on his waist. Should he answer it? No. He has forever separated himself from the Gullwings. He was tired of being drip-fed freedom from Yevon.
“You look troubled, Tidus,” Seymour said coming down a long set of stairs.
“Maybe I’m just not as thrilled about killing people as the guys I share a bathroom with at the moment, Seymour,” Tidus replied.
“But you didn’t kill anyone, Tidus. Barthello always detonates the bombs,” Seymour explained. “I hear he hopes these displays of public cruelty might bring us closer together, but it’s quite the reverse, I’m afraid.”
Seymour placed a reassuring hand on Tidus’s shoulder.
“Yevon is alone among Spira when it comes to taking pleasure in the suffering of others. The Guado love all living things,” Seymour said.
“Even those people being scraped off the walls back in the Djose Temple?” Tidus said starting to cry.
“I know it’s hard, Tidus, but you’ve got to stand back and look at the bigger picture. Even the best of us must do abhorrent things in the pursuit of the greater good sometimes,” Seymour said. “This world is more than five billion years old and yet, in just two hundred years, Yevon has created an environment which will only sustain us for another few decades.”
Seymour remembered when his mother sacrificed herself to become a faith.
“They invented war, they write manuals on torture,” Seymour said pulling his arm off of Tidus’s shoulder. “Every living relative I had in this world was either gassed, shot or sacrificed alive in one of Yevon’s vain hopes to defeat Sin.”
Seymour walked around in front of Tidus.
“Yevon is a fundamentally flawed religion and it’s our duty to replace them at the earliest opportunity. As the more intelligent species, one might even say that it’s our moral responsibility,” Seymour explained.
“You realize you sound exactly like Kuja, a sorcerer that lived more than a thousand years ago?” Tidus asked, pulling away from Seymour.
“Actually, he was one of theirs, Tidus. I only wish to teach them the error of their way and where nessacary, employ some pioneering nuero-surgery,” Seymour said turning away. “I’m not a cruel man, you understand. It’s been years since I’ve even tasted flesh, human or otherwise.”
Seymour led Tidus out to the main square, where many Guado and Al Bhed resided. They walked down a staircase slowly, continuing their conversation.
“My only real ambition now is to make Spira as beautiful and perfect as my little, private desert and raise fit, precocious grandchildren who might breathe unpolluted air,” Seymour continued.
“I’m never going to kill for you, Seymour,” Tidus said abruptly.
“Nor would I ask you to, Tidus. Our perfect world will be here soon enough,” Seymour said with an evil grin. “Incidentally, are you coming to Dona’s poetry recital in the dream room tonight?”
“I guess, but what’s this Epsilon-Omega she’s supposed to be reading in? Some kind of language?” Tidus asked.
“Actually, it’s the Guado alphabet I want everyone here using after the summer solstice,” Seymour answered. “She finds you very attractive, you know. She told me she’s thinking of seducing you afterwards.”
Soon the two parted ways, heading in opposite directions. Just when Tidus thought they were done, Seymour had one more thing to say.
“Oh, and Tidus?” Seymour asked.
“Yeah?” Tidus asked.
“This might sound like an unusual request, but if Barthello is around tonight,” Seymour made a cold cruel laugh. “Would you do me a favor and address me as father when we’re standing in his presence?”
Meanwhile, just outside of Home, at the top of the sandy crater that Home resided in, Dona and Barthello sat talking with each other.
“Why does he take such pleasure in hurting me, Dona? Have I really been such a bad son that I deserve to cry myself to sleep like this every night?” Barthello asked.
A Bikanel Wolf jumped up into the air and snatched at an insect.
“Seymour couldn’t ask for a more perfect son, Barthello,” Dona answered. “Baralai says he resents us because we’re constant, living reminders of his one moment of weakness with a homo sapien all those years ago.”
Dona could still remember when her town was burnt to the ground, by Yevon. Her and Barthello, were just children then, and Dona was one of the chosen ones. Chosen to be a Summoner. The Guado had bombed one of the temples and Yevon blamed it on the nearby town. The Guado came to pillage, whatever was left of the town, and Seymour was with them. Seymour found the two children, and took pity on them. He took them, as raised them as if they were his own. Two of the only three non-Al Bhed or Guado residents of Home.
“But I wish he’d stop criticizing me in front of people. He even said my strength was effeminate this morning,” Barthello protested.
“Poor Barthello, even when you were a little boy, all you ever wanted was to make him proud,” Dona said putting a hand on Barthello’s cheek.
Dona and Barthello must have hugged each other for what seemed like forever.
A shadow passed over the two of them. Barthello looked up, and his eyes looked like they were going to pop out of there sockets. There was Sin, floating over Home, as thousands upon thousands of Sinscales rained down upon the innocent citicens.
“What?” Barthello exclaimed in disbelief.
Dona too, was now watching their home be destroyed by Sin, and his scales, with her mouth open.
Their people were being massacred. Sin charged up his gravity beam and shot it at one of Home’s various towers. However the beam was so wide, that it actually took out three of the towers. There was explosions, gunfire, and sirens going off everywhere in Home. Dona summoned Valefor, and she and Barthello hopped on. Then Valefor took off, gliding along the sand to home.
People were screaming and crying, some even unconscious from fear. A Guado woman and her baby, were hiding in a corner, behind a building. Then a high-pitched screech was heard and the woman looked up and spines shot down her throat, sending blood spurting upward.
A whole hundred and fifty Al Bhed were killed with another one of Sin’s gravity beams.
“A mindless monster to kill a Guado?” Seymour asked beginning to glow. “No wonder we call ourselves homo SUPERIOR.”
Seymour’s voice sounded more like a deep, dark evil voice with a growl to it. His body turned to a sort of rock like clay texture making him look more like a statue than a person. A small brown creature appeared out of nowhere next to him. And zoomed off towards Sin.
“Any species, race, or religion this stupid deserves its little free-fall down the food chain,” Seymour growled his voice echoing throughout the entire island.
Sin let out a howl, as the Mortibody dug it’s way into Sin’s head. Slowly, the Mortibody was taking over Sin. Soon, Seymour would be able to control Sin.
Tidus was defending two women from a Sinscale with his Caladbolg. Barthello was carrying two children, one Al Bhed, one Guado. He looked up and saw Seymour clenching his fist.
“Father…? What are you doing?” Barthello asked.
“What does it look like I’m doing you imbecile? I’m taking control of Sin,” Seymour answered. “Once the Mortibody finishes wrapping it’s tentacle around Sin’s brain, I will control Sin. I will be able to rampage across Spira, totally annihilating any Yevonite, while maintaining this body to rule with an iron fist.”
“Oh my gosh,” Buddy said as he and Brother tried to help Baralai up.
“You have my word, my brothers, that a thousand, no, a hundred thousand, Yevonites will die tonight for every living being lying bleeding at your feet. I want them to know what it feels like. I want them to smell their children’s flesh burning in their nostrils,” Seymour explained.
“But what about that perfect world you told me about, Seymour? I thought you wanted to teach Yevon, not exterminate them,” Tidus said.
“Oh, Earth isn’t going to die tonight, Tidus,” Seymour said. “Just Spira. Spira’s not the only country on this pitiful planet. And besides, the rest of the world will soon fall into line when they see me dancing on the ashes of a country.”
And on that note, Seymour and Sin took off for the rest of Spira to destroy and annihilate all of Yevon.
“It’s started, hasn’t it? The war Cid always tried to prevent,” Tidus said.
“And there’s no way to stop it now, Tidus. Even if we wanted to, we can’t stop dad,” Dona said.
“Let evolution take it’s course, my friend. I know it’s hard, but what comes next is almost certainly for the best,” Barthello said placing a hand on Tidus’s shoulder.
“Drop dead, dirtbag,” Tidus said elbowing Barthello in the nose.
Tidus grabbed his comm-link and put it on.
“Cid, this is Tidus. We’ve got a situation here, sir,” Tidus said.
Back at the Bevelle palace with Yuna and Auron, Yuna was having a field day.
“YOU FILTHY, TWO-FACED DIRTBAG!”
Valefor nose-dived Auron into a mirror.
“I can’t make up my mind which is worse: the fact you came here to kill Cid or the fact you confessed it when we were lying in bed. How could you think of anything else except rip out your lungs for this, Auron?” Yuna asked.
“Because I turned for you, Yuna. I came here hating Cid’s guts, but ended up falling for his big idea just like the rest of you people. To tell the truth, I kinda figured you’d be happy to have another sheep in your fold,” Auron asked.
“You’ll see how happy I am when I shove this Nirvana staff up your butt!” Yuna exclaimed.
Suddenly, on the sphere screen, Cid appeared on it.
“May I have your attention, please. This is Cid of the Gullwings with a warning for every intelligent lifeform in Bevelle. I have just been informed by one of the team members that Seymour is en route from Bikanel Island with a with Sin under his control. At their present speed, I estimate that they will be here in apporxiametly two hours. The military have already been alerted to this situation and a complete evacuation of the capital of Spira is now underway. In the meantime, the Gullwings and I will do everything we can to protect you.”
Back in Home, Tidus marched towards the Celsius, with Dona and Barthello hot on his heels.
“Tidus, where are you going?” Barthello asked.
“Home. Where do you think? I can’t just stand here like an idiot while Yuna and the others get their heads cracked open by that lunatic father of yours, Barthello,” Tidus answered.
“But they’ll be halfway to Bevelle already, Tidus. You haven’t a hope of catching up with them now,” Dona said.
“I have to try. I can’t let what happened here happen back home. Not while there’s still a chance to do something,” Tidus asked.
“But you can’t do anything, Tidus. Even at full speed, the Celsius isn’t going to get you there in time. You’re just not fast enough,” Barthello begged.
“Maybe not, Barthello, but you could have stopped him long ago and you missed your chance,” Tidus said. “Isn’t it about time you stood up to your freakin’ father anyway, you little snot?”
