The Quiet
A rumble, a calamity, a flash so red.
I prayed to god, "It’s not my time"
Flashes of light deepened my submission.

The fear set in, pain pierced through me
I fell to the bed in exasperation
A dark thunder serenaded me to my dream

Terrible visions swirled in and out of my reality
Horrible creatures and wicked spirits,
They abruptly dissipated into dark regions of my mind

A rumble rose again
An inescapable wave towered towards me.
I transitioned myself from standing to laying

A breeze of wind tumbled over me,
I timidly opened my eyes
I saw my thin, white drapery flowing outward.

“I’m home,” I yelled out
I jumped from my bed in ecstasy and ran to my window
My expression changed quickly.

I rubbed my eyes and jumped out the window.
As soon as my foot hit the ground I broke into a dash.
I ran for a mile just to confirm that this was real

I stood at the edge of a hole
A hole so large the other side was not visible
“Oh my God” escaped from my mouth.

I was drawn inward.
One foot after the other
I slowly drifted into the crater.

It was deep nothing was this deep.
The Great Canyon failed in comparison
For miles I walked.

Streams of air blew across the craters surface,
Blowing dust into my face
I covered my eyes and squinted between the cracks in my hands

I reached the bottom.
It was flooded with water.
I sat down and tucked my knees into my chest and enjoyed the quiet
