The Inuyasha Experiance : Questions and Answers
IS MIROKU AS BAD A MONK AS SOME PEOPLE MAKE OUT? Answer: Lets go back and talk a little about that rebelious phase that miroku went through. At one stage he pounced on poor jaken- the reptillian-like follower of Sesshomaru- with murder in his eyes. And later we see that Mirokus friend Hachiemon the tanuki- a racoon-like animal- is also afraid of his violent streak. We also know Miroku takes advantage of his position as a monk, especially when as night arrives he finds himself with no place to stay. he "offers" his services as an exorcist to the most affluent looking family in the area, claiming valuables as payment-even if their are no demons to be exorcised.Miroku has accepted his lot in life, and is determined to track down Naraku, but we should not forget that there are times when his actions suggest that he is a bad monk.
