Ch 3: B&R
Path 3: Sanji Miro the Blacksmith
Shuyin walks across a bridge where he spots a hut. “Hmmm. Guess I’ll have to talk my way into residing here for the night.
“CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!” the sound of metal resonates through the area.
“Hello?!? Is presume that there is a blacksmith around?” An old man walks out. He looks Shuyin up and down.
“Whaddya want, botherin an old man. In my day, we knocked on people’s doors. Now who ye be?” the old man asks.
Shuyin looks at him odd. “Who ye be, huh. I am Shuyin and I am looking for a blacksmith.” He walks up to him. “Are you Sanji Miro, the Legendary Blacksmith?”
Sanji replies, “So what if I be. I don’t make swords anymore.” He fixes his eyes at Shuyin’s sword. “Unless you’re here for the spell.”
Shuyin looks stunned, “How’d you know.”
“I’ve seen my fair share of swordsman.” Sanji replies. “Come inside young one, come inside.”
They walk into the hut to the fire and brimstone of a blacksmith’s hut. Shuyin looks around, “So. You have had your fair share of swordfights. What made you quit?”
To the constant clanging of metal to metal, Sanji Miro begins speaking. “ I’ve seen my fair share of death and I’ve had my fair share of injuries. I quit because of the mental stress I was burdened with. The stress was immeasurable. You seem to like the fighting, but not the killing. That’s how I knew you wanted the spell.”
Shuyin replies, “But most swordsmen have some trigger incident that makes them abandon the Way of the Samurai.”
“Look young blood. Once a samurai. Always a samurai. Now I just explained that I quit because I couldn’t handle that lifestyle.” Sanji states
Shuyin looks away, “Oh” Sanji hand him his sword. “Thanks.” He hastily leaves the area in the middle of the night.
Sanji stands in his hut alone, “He’ll make a big difference in the world.”
