(slaps self in forehead) Forgot!
Yeah, I meant to tell y'all about the convention, I brought my friends Arianna and Schae (I know, uncommon names) and I invited my friend Danny, but he couldn't come. (These are the guys we're all taking tae kwon do on Friday evenings.) We didn't cosplay but I know I'll have something in mind for next year. And let's see who I saw there: a Sango-and-Miroku couple, a dozen Kisuke hats, Ichigo immitaters, a Gaara cosplay (Schae went absolutely nuts, that's her fave character by a long shot,) there were Ed Elrics, one of those Shin Chan characters, a real good Ash Ketchum getup (from the Advanced series) and let's not forget a Naruto trio all in the same place. That got the girls goins to.
Schae: Could you go ask them?
Arianna: I'll ask one if you ask the other.
But actually Schae asked both questions: whether it was the Shadow Clone thing and who was the real one. Of course, they started pointing fingers at each other, but it turns out they didn't even know each other.
And we got the usual buttons and T-shirts, sat in for part of an interview with FUNimation voice actress Colleen Clinkenbeard, came across a cute Bonsly and Croagunk, took pics of virtually everyone in costume.
I got two new volumes of Bleach, wanted to get the first two volumes of Death Note too (my friends kept mentioning what a great series it is,) but they were all gone by Saturday, only had later volumes there. And I had Japanese food for the first time (it's true, I never had sushi before.) The crab meat and cucumber rolls were good. I also had some shrimp teriyaki but it took me a while to realize what I was picking up the food with was just a toothpick to keep the container closed. XD
Then the stories and stuff. I got two books and two posters from this pair of mangaka named Ophillia Lin and Moul Kim, they created a site called MusaJump.com. They also drew each of us as a ninja or samurai, whichever we chose, and I picked samurai. I was also surprised to find another anime fan that wasn't that big a Naruto fan, but me and Ms. Lin ended up in a converstion about how the series's plot could be a little less repeating.
Then we moved on and this other guy gave me a 16-page book called "Where You Once Belonged." It says in the inside cover that that's what he made after about 8 or 9 years of taking apart and putting the story together again. The main character's a sorta antihero type, it seems like, but it says he was originally made to be a more of a sweet, justice-driven person instead. But that wouldn't've made for an intresting series, right?
So then there's this woman I showed her what I've made for characters in my latest story, and she drew a manga-y kind of my headshot. The girls said the hair came out a little weird, the gel was wearing off I guess, I told them to help and Arianna said "you WANT us to mess up your hair?"
Oh, on the way back home we met this trio of girls and one of them said "i thought we were the only people who poked each other in the head for fun." They told us about the Cosplay Chess thing we missed most of, it was Sugary vs. Sour (personality-wise, I think those were the names they used) and they tried to remember and finally said Sugary won with only a few pieces left on board.
And one more subject. I think I came up with a new name for the new story. "The Afterworld" is now known as "Gray Area," and I'm only a little worried that title can be compared to "Bleach." If you notice the new fanart's missing, that's because I edited to replace all instances of the old title. It should be back up in a few hours thou. Anyway, tae kwon do tomorrow, homework load hopefully won't be that much.
Oh! And there's a big history project coming up and all the presentation dates are staggered. And with the help of one of my two project partners, I was lucky enough to pull the latest presentation date available: June 1. Good considering we're gonna be a person short for a bit, the other partner might not be in for a little while cause he broke his wrist the other day. And I think that's all (Wow for the long post,) and til next time this is the Sarge signing off. DISMISSED!
