   Chapter 2: Dinner
The rest is in my post archives if you haven't read it. It starts with the prolouge and ends here so far...

"Konoko! Hey Konoko!" yelled an excited Hikaru, "It's dinner time! Get up!"
to Hikaru's surprise, instead of Konoko rushing out for dinner, a tiny ball of fur skidded into the kitchen, a small bowl in his mouth. Hikaru blinked her eyes in confusion.
"Ummmmm.....you're not Konoko." she said as he jumped into her arms. Hikaru made her way over to the room in which her new friend was hiding. She found the little girl sitting on the couch staring at the wall, and rubbing the hand that she had sliced open earlier that day.
"Konoko? Look, we've all been left here, so we've all been hurt and know how you feel, but you're gonna starve sitting in here all night." Common, we'll go pick on Raidon, and put peas in his pants. "Trust me....it'll cheer you up." she giggled.
"Alright. I'm getting hungry anyway." Konoko said with a small giggle, and then added, I need to feed Tac first. I was surprised that he hadn't been in here with his bowl yet." With that the tiny mongoose jumped out of Hikaru's arms and onto the floor for his supper.
"Oh yeah, your stuff's by the door if you need it, but Mrs. Nisawa will put it away for you." she said as Konoko left to find her pet's food.
Konoko walked into the other room and suddenly remembered that she was out of food for Tac.
"Sorry buddy," she coed,"but I'm all out of food for you. I guess you can have some of whatever I have." she said with an apologetic smile. Tac looked fearful at the thought of no food, but eventually crawled up onto her head and curled up with what sounded like a sigh.
As they walked into the dinning room, Konoko saw a man she hadn't seen earlier while she was awake.
" Hey old man." called Hikaru.
"mmrplrg." the brown haired man grumbled.
"well a good day to you too, sir." she said sarcastically.
"Young lady watch your tone!" snapped the woman at the far end of the ragged dinner table.
"Yeah Hi ka ru." teased the twins, as she sat at the center chair on the opposite side of the table.
"come sit by me Konoko." she said as she gestured toward the chair to her left. konoko silently obeyed, and sat in the chair, which happened to be across from Raidon, who was at the moment giving her a strong look of dislike. Yasuo was seated at Hikaru's right, across from the slightly older twin Taro, and to his right was the ever playful Tamo.
Konoko gently lifted the sleeping mongoose off of her head and stroked him tenderly.
"Yay RAMEN!!!" Hikaru exclaimed.
"...again." Raidon finished.
"Do you like ramen Konoko?" asked Hikaru.
"I suppose" the girl replied meekly, not looking up from the sleeping fur ball in her lap.
"Well you have to eat your veggies young lady, and don't try anything funny. I know your tricks." said Mrs. Nisawa in a threatening tone.
"yeah squirt, no peas in Raidon's pants like last time." Mr. Nisawa added.
"Ughhhhh you old people are no fun, you know that?" Hikaru complained.
Konoko picked at her food for a few moments and put some of it in her hand for Tac.
"Scho whaat ish dat ting?" Mr. Nisawa asked with a mouth full of food.
"it's a..."
"mon..."
"goose." The twins exclaimed in perfect harmony
"yes." Konoko agreed. as if understanding the conversation was about him, Tac stretched, fluffed himself up, stuck out his small chest, with a small squeak.
"Isn't he cute, old man?!" Hikaru smiled.
"Whatever, but I don't want it at the table or in your mother and mine's room." he threatened.
"Mother my ass." Hikaru mumbled under her breath.
Konoko sadly placed her little treasure on the floor, and resumed picking at her food.
After a few minutes she stopped and asked,
"May I please be excused, now?"
"Hmmm?" everyone asked, confused as to why she wouldn't want to finish her dinner.
"I don't feel much like eating right now, and I'm a bit tired, so..." she explained softly.
"it's understandable hunny. You go on to bed if you like." Mrs. Nisawa said sweetly.
As Konoko went out the door followed by her faithful pet, Hikaru turned to Raidon,
"You are aware that I blame YOU for this, right?"
