KxS angst/death ficlet *kills muses*
be silent my dear.
By: Shimegami
Warnings: Dark, Yaoi, AU, Bloody
Disclaimer: Not mine. Don't sue.
AN: Dark and rather mysterious. I've been listening to Fall iNTo DozE all weekend. Thus, this was born. And overdosing on j-art of Shinichi dressed up in a reverse-style Kaitou Kid. (ex. black where Kid is white, etc. etc.)
be silent my dear.
"Fade out, fade out my tiny bell
Yes, I will see you to the door
Toozakari kasumu..."
---"Fall iNTo DozE" by Move
It was a stupid mistake on his part.
Not doing his research, not realising that the big shiny jewel had been placed in his reach by a big decidedly not-so-shiny organization.
If Kaitou Kid had a pet peeve, it would be being shot on heists.
This time it was really bad.
Slouched in an dark alley, what little blood he *hadn't* left back at the museum smearing the brick wall behind him, Kaitou decided to be very realistic about his chances for survival.
Namely, they were zero.
And he had been so close.
He had been getting closer to Pandora, he could feel it. In perhaps a few more heists...
But no, here he was, bleeding all over someone's poor brick wall, feel light-headed from blood lss.
He hadn't even lived long enough to make sure the legacy was prolonged. UNlike his dad, Kaitou had no son to train in magic and thievery.
Hell, he was still in high school! By all rights he shouldn't have been a thief yet. His father had probably planned to introduce him to theob while he was in college, or maybe just atthe end of high school.
But his father died eight years ago, and here he was, about to follow.
Sometime during his thoughts his body had taken a decidedly horizontal tilt, and he found himself laying on his side. It hurt, so he shifted slightly and fell onto his back.
He was in a factory section of town, bordering a suburban housing area that the museum had resided in. There wasn't much light pollution, so he could see the few stars that filtered through the city lights and pollution.
He didn't want to die, not really. He was too close to his goal. The Pandora Gem *had* to be found and destroyed. For the sake of the world.
He closed his eyes, wishing he was in a perfect world, where thieves and gems didn't exist, where he had his father and mother and Aoko, and all was normal and perfect.
A ghost of a touch slid across his cheek, cool silk brushing across his skin like a breeze. He opened his eyes.
Kaitou Kid stood over him. Or rather, his dark doppleganger.
Instead of the brilliant white of his own suit, this one was pitch black, the normally reflective silk flat and black in this place of little light. Small, dim highlights of red were here and there, the band of silk on the tophat, the dress shirt. A blue tie hung like a leash from a slim pale neck.
The only thing that caught the light was the monocle (on the left eye instead of the right), obscuring the eye beneath. The charm dangled slightly, reversed as well. The white clover was now black; the background red.
He wondered if he had already died.
The not-Kid smiled softly at him, a smile of sadness and knowing. The touch came again, the doppleganger's black silk-clad fingers caressing his face.
He then leaned forward, close enough that KAiotu could make out the features of the face past the monocle and hat. Pale, finely-honed features, nearly identical to his own...
He knew that face very well. It couldn't be...
The black-clad Kid gave him the saddest, gentlest smile he had ever seen.
"Your dream-world exists, Kaitou." The doppelganger whispered, soft voice sweet and soothing. "You're so very happy there...."
Blue eyes were clear and dead, but somehow very soft and sad, as well. "However, that means your burdens were transferred to someone else."
Someone just like him. Someone that matched him in brains, looks, spirit...
The caressing resumed. "Don't worry, my love, I'll find it. I'll put an end to all of this. And then our others will live happily ever after together."
Others. Somewhere in this world, there was a doppleganger of this solemn not-Kid, who was a happy anti-thesis.
A detective....
His breath caught, everything was going hazy. He had to tell him, he *had* to...
"Shinichi-"
A slim, cool finger settled over his lips and silenced him. Everything was going dark, but he could still see Shinichi's face, and the same sad smile and tears that wouldn't fall.
"Be silent my dear." The voice of the double of his Shinichi whispered, and Kaitou somehow felt glad that his last moments were all of that face, that voice.
And he was silent.
