Riiiide zhe Shoopuff!? oO;
Well, I'm back again for the third time today (a record perhaps?). And, once again,I'm coming live from my school library, which is currently populated by middle-school heathens and *gasp* the FFA! >_< Needless to say, it's a bit noisy.
Anyways, I've got a good fifteen minutes of free time, so I may as well use it to my advantage. So, I shall give you all the pleasure of reading my review of Final Fantasy Tactics: Advance.
As everyone knows, I'm a big fan of Final Fantasy. I try and buy each and every game I can get my hands on (except for FFXI, but that's another story). So, I naturally had to buy Tactics Advance for the GBA. As soon as I turned on the game, I was surprised. These are some top-notch graphics, especially for a hand-held. The sound is also superb, with a wide selection of auditory stimulae ranging from the typical lightnin-bolt 'kabewm' to the sound of agonizing defeat. That is to say, argh.
As for the gameplay, it is superb. There's a great deal of strategy involved, but don't worry. The learning curve isn't too steep. Trust me on that, because the tutorial fight is carried out with...snowballs! @_@
Now, for the staple of any FF game: The story. Well, this one certainly delivers. Even though it's still the age-old cliche of "OMFG I'm trapped in an alternate dimension! Must find way back home!", you still can't help but feel a little bit compelled to keep on going. The characters are also very well-developed, despite the fact that they have no voices. (It's a GBA game.) The text they emit seems to almost perfectly fit their personalities, although Montblanc is starting to get on my nerves with his constant "kupo"-ing. >_<
All in all, Final Fantasy Tactics: Advance is a game I would recommend to anyone, especially hardcore RPG/strategy gamers. In typical XPlay-esque style, I have no choice but to give FFTA a 5/5. Kupo.
