I Like Your Christ; I Do Not Like Your Christians
We watched a little bit of a video on Gandhi, who is only the coolest person to have ever existed. That's really the only reason that quote came to mind.
So today Nicole and I went to DuPont Circle in DC and went hunting for gay paraphernalia. 'Twas fun! I got three books: Gay Tales of the Samurai; Man's Best Friend (absolutely delectable yaoi, highly recommended); and The Book of Dragons and Other Mythical Beasts, which will be mostly for reference. We had a fun time even though Nicole's dad got pulled over right after picking us up. >_< That was unnerving, because he didn't have his registration with him AND the front license plate had fallen off so we were there for ages...
Yuki and I watched Hare Nochi Guu together and then I sat down at my comp to hang out. Can't VA because my voice is pretty much gone. Exo sent me a SetoxJou slideshow from Youtube and it kind of sucked a little. Er, a lot, but at the same time it was good? The pictures were tres smexy, but very OOC for one or either of them, and the background song was T3H SUXX0R. I hate Rent now. Thanks, Youtube, thanks. But really, that was one of the worst attempts at singing I've ever heard, and I think it was meant to be a professional.
I've discovered I really hate YGO yaoi shippers...as much as I love YGO yaoi. Most of the shippers are 12- to 13-year-olds who can't get their hands on the real stuff yet and have to make up their own pairings and fanfic and so forth. And yes, I was one of these once, but I'm sure I had much better communication skills. One of the comments on the slideshow was as follows:
ahhh lyk no way where da hell did u get those pics *swoons* i love em *wlks away all grumpy while mutterin darnit i want those pics* *faves xxx*
OH GOD WHY?! This is the kind of thing that can only be written by someone from about 11 to 15. You know where the person got those pics? THE INTERNET. WHERE YOU ARE NOW, DUMBASS. How did you find the video? By searching! That's how he/she found the pics. Durr. Also, learn to spell, punctuate, capitalize, and form coherent sentences. Here is a rewritten version of your pathetic attempt at English.
Wow! Where did you get those pics? I love them! Man, I really want those. I'll add you to my favorites.
Just an example of how you can not only shorten the length of your message (while using complete words), but also not look braindead.
The sad thing is, even if I can easily avoid such people by not viewing comments on such suspect videos, the influence of the pre-pubescent yaoi fan permeates the world of YGO fanfic. I challenge you to find one single YGO yaoi fanfic, complete with sex scene, that is both tolerable in content and competently proofread. Go on. I know I don't dare try anymore, because the horrors of the pre-pube attempts at lemon are really, really traumatizing.

New Beginnings
Club fair today. We totally rocked the auditorium with our kickass table. Totally. We have 38 people signed up for the club now! That's more than enough for Operation Anime, which means free stuff, hurray! There was also a teacher interested in proctoring. I think things will be okay for GCAC this year. ^_^
Looked at my comments for the Mine cosplay...my me, so much love. Yes, I know I'm adorable. XD I'm gonna miss that costume so much! I love frilly things! T_T
But, Akadot has a new section now of Victorian and g-loli costume pieces, and this inspired me to try for a loli theme for Katsucon. I've always wanted one of those beautiful, adorable, detailed dresses and some gigantic boots, and ribbons all over the place... maybe some extra-curly hair... Anybody got two cents to throw in? Maybe style, referene pics? Just askin' for input here. ^_^U
Anyway, I have to go to bed so I have energy to fail school tomorrow.

It's All About the Sea Bass
I just saw the coolest cooking show ever. Called Garvin, I think? It's these two black guys...cooking. But they're like real people, they talk like kids at my school, they goof off. One of them said grace before trying one of the dishes. But these guys are hilarious too! For instance: "I gotta give my man has own tah--we don't say 'towel,' we say 'tah.'" The food looks delicious too. They've got some sesame-crusted Chilean sea bass and celery root and port wine puree going right now. Makes me so freaking hungry! >_<
Proof that the cooking show is not dead. Yays!

Na Naa Na-Na-Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Naaa...
Played Katamari Damacy and Soul Calibur III with Yuki today, and yesterday evening we looked at my old pictures, drawings, and awards and then watched Conqueror of Shamballa together. I feel like I have a sister now, it's so weird! But I like it. She's so sweet, and we get along well.
And you know you're friends with someone when they say they want to take you to Akihabara. That's how you know they really do understand. I am going to annoy my parents about a trip to Japan this summer, however futile it may be. I want to go so badly, even more now than before! Now that I've seen photos Yuki took of the beach and of the shrines, and even of the little ramen shops. Now that I'll have someone to go places with when we're there. I want to meet her family; they sound so cool, and her house is so nice. And we could eat together, and go shopping together, and take pictures together, and-- I sound like we're getting married. O_o
Anyway, I've had almost four sodas now so I'm WIRED. I'm also getting some sort of illness, probably from Christina, not that I hold a grudge. I just wish I had my proper voice back, but all I can do is talk normally, no VAing or singing.
The Hagaren Song File Best Compilation CD was pretty cool. The songs weren't riveting but I liked hearing the VAs sing. Especially the Hughes and Elicia one! So cute! Papa to... something I didn't bother reading because it was in kanji. I also liked the techno one with voice clips of the homunculi, that was so cool. "Hagane no chibi-san..." Yes, Envy, you are totally awesome.
That's enough rambling for now, ciao.
(Yes, I'm feeling a bit better mood-wise. Not a lot but enough that I don't feel like complaining.)

It's the Lonely Fear of Dying, and for Some of Living Too
After all this time my condition has again decided to rear its ugly head. Yeah, I'm depressed again. Exact same symptoms--anger, outbursts of tears, tiredness, inability to calm my mind. I don't know what to do... I just want to sleep but my buzzing thoughts won't let me. I'm stuck in a rut. I really don't like my psychiatrist and i don't know what my therapist could do.
...So that's my sad story.

My Foot and Giant Pocky
Back to school in full force after a virtual four-day weekend.
Plans for this week: Find a moderator for the anime club. Study periodic table of elements. Arrange weekend trip to DuPont Circle with Nicole and Yuki. Finish drawings for two RP characters. Draw map of Russia for social studies. Receive shipment from AnimeNation in one piece and correctly.
By the way, we ordered, let's see... Conqueror of Shambala for the anime club, Yuki, and my own devious pastimes. My Foot, an album by the Pillows. Faith, an album by Hyde. And an album by a J-pop singer I don't know but whom Yuki likes.
The other day at the Asian market where they have a million different kinds of Pocky, I found, aside from pineapple Pocky and purple sweet potato Pocky (also try green tea, choco-banana, and black sesame! Pumpkin is terrible though), GIANT Pocky. I'd heard of it but I never really realized just how giant it was. To demonstrate, I took some pictures. Ignore my pimply face, I'm under a lot of stress these days with school. : P
That's a big box...
Bigger than my head. >_<
And the Pocky inside is sized accordingly!
That's all for now, folks. Ack.

O_O
Reporting from the front lines of Gaia's GD and the CNN website, I have news. Steve Irwin is dead. Stuck in the chest with a stingray barb.
Let's take a few moments to let that sink in.
Steve Irwin
is dead.
He's just one of those guys you think will never die, or will last at least till a hundred or so. Athletic, healthy diet I'm sure, and for all the risks he takes with wild animals he's damn good at what he does--er, did. He's taken on crocodiles twice as big as him and yet it was one stingray, one little barb (relatively, anyway) to take him down. Death likes irony.
But somehow I just can't imagine media without Irwin. Of all the celebrities I can think of, he was the most alive, and one of the least controversial (other than the baby thing, I can't think of anything else anyone dared to gripe about). He had a family, he had pets. He had a TV show. He was so...not dead. And now, without warning, POOF. No more. I imagine Animal Planet will be airing Croc Hunter shows for weeks in memory of him. I say go for it. Steve Irwin was one of the few genuine good guys in the media, and he had such a cool accent. Don't let anyone forget how awesome that accent was, how expertly he handled animals, and how cheerful he always was. He'd get smacked with a croc's tail, he'd just laugh it off and keep going. If that happened to Paris Hilton there'd be lawsuits out her ass and we'd never hear her stop bitching.
So cheers, Steve Irwin. Rest in peace, and may your memory be good, wholesome entertainment for generations to come. Let your death be not in vain. And watch over your family. At least now you can chill with your dog again; see, it's not all bad!

Why Yes, I AM a Genius
Elgie and I just finished the desert scene in the first ep of FMA using the dub script. If anyone is interested in hearing it (I don't know how to actually insert the dub without messing up the existing audio yet), send me an IM. My AIM sn is over there to your left and I don't mind people randomly IMing me as long as they're not idiots. If you are an idiot, you will be blocked, etc. etc.
I think it turned out pretty cool. And I did all the mixing by the way. So I should totally get a trophy. Or at least a bathroom break.

Oral Fixation
The other day Yuki gave me some of a snack she had brought with her from Japan: dried umeboshi (pickled plums). It was one of the weirdest things I've ever tasted. The first bite ellicited an immediate BLEH because it was so sour, but as with all sour things after a few more bites the pain dulled. Other than sour, it was also a tiny bit sweet and a tinier bit salty, and a good texture for nibbling little bits off of it. I recommend it as an experimental snack food. You might like it!
Elgie and I (and Exo because I coerced him into it, and we needed at least one actual guy in the cast) are currently doing an FMA dub, of just the first episode for now. I'm Ed, Winry, and Pinako (Winry and Pinako get one line each). Elgie is Al, Lust, and Rose. Exo will be Cornello and the guy with the radio. I've run into a little bit of a problem--I talk too fast. It's just a habit, I can't slow down my speech enough. I can stick spaces between words but my words themselves are still asldkjdsfkns fast. So I'm gonna roam around the VAA forums for tips.
In the meantime, I will also attempt to record a bloodcurdling scream. Wish me luck.

Moe-Lover's Dream...?
So yeah, just put up my Mine costume. My poor Mine costume that disappeared, probably at the hands of our crappy maid. Sort of ironic, isn't it?
A little about the costume, for y'all who don't know. I had it for a whole year before it ran away, and my grandma made it because she's the best grandma evar evar evar. It was damn comfy too. I really miss it. Out of all three costumes I've ever sported to a con, this one got the most attention. Mostly from random nerdy looking guys. I have this funny feeling I belong to a couple collections of moe pictures somewhere on the planet. Not that I mind. I am a woman, after all, and I love a little positive attention, muahaha. I'd also love a little moisturizer. My hand itches like hell. =_=
Pictures of my Enki costume may go up soon as well. That one got me attacked by a fangirl. <3
