WTF, Mate? (Complete)
Hokay, so.
Sorry about the long delay. I would have had this ready sooner except that the interwebs exploded for a few days. It's back now though (knock on wood), so here we go!
Two notes: First, I was lazy, so I didn't resize most of them, so you'll have to click links to the images so I don't stretch the crap out of my page for low-res viewers. Second, I was lazy, so I didn't censor the pictures. If you find a picture of yourself and you want it taken down, go ahead and tell me and I'll do that. Otherwise, laziness rules all.
So this year was incredibly amazing. I'm not sure where to start, so we'll just go in order...
Right off the bat (around noontime Friday) there were plenty of cosplayers milling about. It was nice to see a Kaiba, with briefcase full of cards (not shown). Then I got a picture of Canada (Canadia?). It looks pretty much the way you'd expect. Nearby were a group of Soras, so I got a picture for a friend of mine (hi, friend!) who loves KH. Of course I forgot later on to get any more KH pictures, but he'll forgive me. As we moved towards some of the escalators, we caught these two. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a "dog of the military" reference or just kinky. As we walked away, Ed pleaded for my help, but I had to refuse...I've got nothing against keeping guys on leashes. Heh heh. Ahem. So upstairs we ran into some more FMA cosplayers, and two unusual ons at that. The first was a Hohenheim, but I'm not going to post his picture because he looked kind of camera shy to begin with. The second was a MALE Envy. Most people won't even admit Envy is male in the anime! As we wandered around upstairs, Exo spotted a Malik and asked for a picture...and found out he knew the guy from his weekend YGO tournaments. I guess I'm not allowed to say the guy was hot, but he did have a very long tongue and made funny noises when poked (endless entertainment, which came in handy later). Moving along, we ran into a full-on Kon cosplayer. These cosplayers are so brave, wearing heavy costumes in July and August. This costume just blew me away--a full body Mia from .hack//IMOQ. She shows up in the .hack gathering later, but I think her costume deserves its own shot. Not long after, we found another brave cosplayer--a Grunty! She was so adorable! She showed up for the .hack gathering too, as did most of the .hack cosplayers. It was a good day for YGO cosplayers, as we found a pretty Dark Magician Girl. Can you tell if she's from before or after the 4Kids edit? I can! Some more uncommon characters followed: Ashitaka and San, Guu, and Emma. I want to try playing Emma--for Katsucon, though, when it'll be cold and not blisteringly hot. Like last year, there was a Hard Gay cosplayer, though his popularity has sadly dropped now that Bakafish's translations are confined to their own site. As we moved into the Dealer's Room, we were confronted at once by the Geneon Hellsing display, which consisted of a huge wall set with windows and eyes that flashed red, a large poster and a TV screen, and an immense throne. It was so awesome, and it was a little too big to fit in one picture very well... Just outside was a Witch Hunter Robin cosplayer, who fit in well with the backdrop despite being from a different series altogether. I took a seat in the throne and did my damnedest to look smarmy despite being in a cute little dress, and it worked pretty well I think. Yikes. As we shopped, I ended up looking at messenger bags while squished against...Kino! It went something like this...
Me: You're Kino, aren't you?
Kino: Yeah!
Me: Awesome, cuz I'm Kino too! And so is he! *points at Exo*
Everyone: YAY.
Exo: *is stabbed in the stomach*
So we took group shots, one for each camera, and it was win.
Time passed and it was time to get in line for Vic's autograph. We got in line behind some funny Naruto cosplayers, and then the Malik guy joined us for no reason (he didn't want an autograph). Entertainment was scarce, so basically everyone picked on everyone else, leading to an unfortunate case of buttrape. Punishment ensued.
So we got into the room, the last group of 8. Aaron and Vic were dead-tired. Exo made Vic say the famous line, "Roy Mustang is dead sexy in a miniskirt." And. And. And. And then we got the last picture with him! I have two versions...They're both crappy because they were super rushed, but here's one and two.
Yeah. So after that there was some kind of void of pictures or something? I get the timing all mixed up after Vic, so I'm gonna start guessing.
The next day (I think?), there was a new batch of cosplayers. One I spotted easily was Count D, identifiable, as she said, only because of the Q-chan on her shoulder...but still, it was a good Q-chan. I remember seeing this pair late at night, maybe Friday night. I was complaining quietly that Ed should've been using the paddle, and then, as if by magic, Ed smacked Al's butt with it as they walked away down the hall. Wishes do come true! Here are some more assorted pictures: A Death Note group that Exo caught (Kira, L, M, and N); Kakashi, cuz he's just cool; a BlackRose from .hack; an Ivy from Soul Calibur III; "Noir"-style Haruko Haruhara; Haku from Spirited Away, the first I've ever seen; a couple of our favorite apple-lovin' shinigami; an Aya from Weiss Kreuz, who talked to me for a bit about Seki Tomokazu, since I didn't get to see him; a gang of Hellsing characters of varying evilness; a lovely Integra posing in the throne with a cigar (swoon!); and Chiyo-chan's father, as he's called. Also of note were some fellow Seki fans who also missed the autograph line, and who were cosplaying a cute, classic Loveless couple. At one point we came across someone dressed as Jesus, with a wooden cross and everything. It was a little bit awkward--I wasn't sure whether I should laugh or not. I mean, it's Jesus at an anime convention, that's funny, but then, it's Jesus on his way to be crucified, that's decidedly not humorous. Oh well. I can say for sure though that this picture is funny, because it contains both Jesus and a box of Pocky, which is not something you can say for most photographs.
Late-ish Saturday, after the Seki let-down, we wandered into the ground area with plants and whatnot and a nice floor, which is where groups usually meet up for gigantic photo shoots. Being dressed as Tabby from .hack//Roots, when I saw the beginnings of a .hack gathering, I rushed in to join. Here are some of the choice results. Exo took pictures, the dear (*love*).
Group shot 1. Group shot 2. Group shot 3. Group shot 4. NEW POSES! Battle of the Kites. UBER Data Drain. Tsukasa and Elk unite. AFK takes on Ovan's AIDA arm. Kite gives a piggyback to a little Azure Kite (aww!). Silabus gives a piggyback to Kite? Ovan and Shino, a mysterious relationship. Elks and Tsukasas unite again. The Twilight Brigade, minus Sakisaka. I switched sides, having no "teacher" to cling to permanently.
Finally, on Sunday after I left apparently some genius wrote this on the glass roof/ceiling in duct tape. It became the "in" thing to point at it. So people did. I hope they never caught the person who did it, cuz that would be one major banning from Otakon right there, and hey, it was a good laugh, right?
So that, my friends, is all the pictures I feel like posting. If you want to poke around the whole album, go ahead.
You know that Tabby costume was sexy. X3
