SIC Day III: Tory! Yay!
Sorry, sorry. Last night I was pretty busy making plans for Katsucon. I'm so excited! So, just to wrap things up, I'll do the character I had planned for today.
This character is the one closest to the real me. I even kept her first name the same, and we look alike and everything. ^_^ So here are the specs: 5'3", 125 lbs, long brown curly hair, pale skin, brown eyes, glasses. Basically, me.
She was born and raised in a tribal, though sophisticated, village in the mountains (if I knew FMA geography I would place it properly >.<) called Kagran, which has an art-based culture. The village produces famous works of art--paintings, drawings, pottery, all kinds--and sells them to passing merchants in exchange for the majority of the local food supply (tha land is too rocky to use for farming and too sparse for hunting or foraging). She grew up here being taught how to draw, and became enthralled with it. At 18 (I'm conveniently ignoring the FMA timeline as well so that Ed is 19 at this point...it's my head, I can do whatever I want with it), she set out from Kagran to practice her drawing skills and sell her art in the hopes of becoming famous.
She has an adopted older brother named Raphael (I like that name a lot), who is very tall and has long red hair. He came from the neighboring rival tribe Grena, as is evident in his genetics, and was left in the village square of Kagran when he was a baby. While some of the villagers viewed him as a threat, Tory's parents decided to raise him. Her mother was pregnant with her at the time. Rafi is...well...flamingly gay, but it's okay because it's accepted in the culture of Kagran. Eh-heh. Later on he ends up with a nice, sexy Kagrean boy named Aaron.
So here's the big story. A short while after Tory and Ed get together (the story behind that is not very interesting at all except to me :3), they decide to go together to visit Tory's parents back in the village. They ride up by train, and after the visit (which also is not of public interest, and involves Raphael molesting poor, innocent Ed), during which Tory drew a particularly good sketch of Ed, they're standing on the platform waiting for the train to come. A bit of a wind has started up, and is threatening to blow the sketches from Tory's hand (it's getting kind of surreal, writing about someone else who has my name and kind of is me >.o). It eventually does, just as the train comes into view. Tory, being a lot like me, doesn't consider the train coming and flings herself into the tracks to try to retrieve the sketches. She's just got them when the train is about to hit--but Ed pulls her to safety. Phew. Or not. Tory, oh-so-bright Tory, had her right hand stretched out to grab the papers, and it was still in the path of the braking train. Not only does Tory not get her precious sketches back, but her hand is crushed between the wheels of the train and the rails. She passes out from the pain and blood loss, and when she awakens, she's in the hospital with an amputated hand, gone from a bit above the wrist. But Tory is right-handed! How will she ever draw again? Well... Winry is sweet enough to design her an automail hand articulated enough for the fine motions of sketching and painting. It takes a couple of months before Tory's used to the automail enough to draw with anywhere near the same skill she had before, but she can make a living again.
But then tragedy strikes again. Even though there is quite enough blood-vomiting in FMA already, Tory starts doing it too. It's a fad, yay. Well, obviously this is a problem that requires medical attention. It turns out that all along Tory's known this would be happening soon; she had vomited blood on a few occasions before. Here's the dealio--she was born with an unusually weak stomach lining, and her stomach acid had been slowly but steadily eating away at it. Now it had gotten to the point where the speed at which it was consuming her stomach was much faster, and fairly soon it would break through and start destroying her other organs. (Aren't I just great at coming up with original medical problems? It's because I don't know much about real ones, and they aren't really interesting enough anyway.) So, basically, she's going to die in a short period of time, very painfully. So she's put into the hospital again and put on pain medication and spends her days sleeping, puking, feeling miserable, and occasionally passing out. It steadily gets worse, and then she dies. It's all very sad. I really don't know why i made her die. I'm just a drama queen, I suppose.
There it is. All you ever needed to know about my self-insert characters, except for Kami-chan who I was going to do yesterday, but he's not really all that...understandable. There are many other side stories to the one above that are being toyed with--a rival for Tory's affections, conflicts caused by her automail hand, the death of her brother in an attack by the rival clan. Nothing concrete though.
This session has satisfied my need to be verbose. Thank you all for your time. ^_^ I'll never do it again, I promise. At least, not self-inserts. I might jabber at you about my fiction projects though...I like them a lot. They're my children. Yee. So anyway...KATSUCON TOMORROW. YAYS ON A STICK. And next weekend my green belt exam, meep. See you later, with con-related news.
