*phew* I was worried that post wouldn't go through; MyO was being wonky.
So. Katsucon. Yes. Wow. That was fun. ^_^ First off, what I bought: FMA movie poster, shirtless Ed figurine (a growing collection of Eds! yay!), Hellsing poster, some funny pins, a personal sweat drop, and a kitty bell on a ribbon. Less than usual because I had to do things such as eat and ride the Metro with only about $70 total.
I went with Jenny, and we met up with Stephanie there, but she got weirded out and went home (we're not that scary, are we? ;_;). I also found my friends John and Raisa, and someone I know from Gaia. Jenny and I had fun eating lunch at Chipotle, where there was a bar table up against the front window. We started to wave at people and keep track of who waved back; some people got really into it and stood thee waving for about three minutes, and others just gave us confused looks as if to say, "...Do I know you? You don't look familiar, but you're waving..." After 13 waves (and 9 wave-backs) we took to piece of cardboard out of my calender and made a sign that said "WAVE BACK, DAMMIT!" with an angry vein. We only had to use it four times--but once it didn't work!
There were lots of nice comments on my costume that made me feel pretty. ^_^ There were a few really impressive costumes there, but for the most part everything was subdued comapred to Otakon. I guess when you're in D.C. it's not really a good idea to walk around in a giant Pocky box costume. We got one good picture of a pair, Haku and Zabuza, and Haku was on a bright pink leash.
Artist's Alley was tons of fun. I found Studio Tavicat and got them to sign the first volume of Shutterbox, yay! There were also plenty of interesting people selling odd things like vibrating hamsters with removable wings (they were so cute!).
The Metro ride on the way there took ages... They had single-tacked the line for maintenance. But when we got to the station, there was a pair of humongous escalators that went waaaayyy up, like the one in Bethesda only there were two of them. So to entertain ourselves on the long ride up, we watched the people walking by in costumes and then broke into a loud chorus of Ready Steady Go. At the registration counter, the lady looked over my parental permission form (for people under 18 attending without their parents) and said, "You are over twelve, right?" I almost cried. T_T (Today in Red Lobster the hostess asked if I wanted a kid's menu. Chibi ja nai! I was only wearing my Shigure hat with the ears, does that make me a little kid? My head was cold! *grumble grumble*)
Oh, and I met a furry. Umm, yeah. He was a little scary. >.< He smelled funny, too. He was about my age and was there with his parents. And I think he liked me. Damn.
And just for the record: IT WAS FREEZING YESTERDAY! JESUS CHRIST AND EDWARD ELRIC! GAH! I could've DIED! XO
That's all. *salutes*
