FOR WHATEVER IT'S WORTH. . .AND A CONTEST????
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!! I've always been kinda hyper-critical about my art, because, well . . . it's MY art. If they don't come out on paper exactly as I saw them in my dreams, then I guess they're not perfect enough for me.
But everybody on MyO has been so wonderful! And I wanted to say thank you . . . I'm so touched. *wipes eye, sniffling* I think I'm gonna go all girly and stuff. . .
ANYWAY, remember, SIKAURAI LIKES TO SHARE AND VIEW ALL ART! I was thinking . . . because there's so much talent here on MyO, I've been kinda talking to people about potential renditions of my fave drag-queen lookin' antagonist. . . my sexy Ukyo. I mean, there's just not enough exposure on him out there on the net! And I was thinkin' . . . maybe a contest? YEAH!!! I was thinkin'. . .maybe myO members could submit their renditions--the sky's the limit; sikaurai doesn't believe in censorship. I'm all for the freedom of expression! And we could have a contest to see which of you gets the most votes!!
But let's talk incentive. . . if I had enough interest in such an idea, what would the prize be? Hmmmmmmm. . .
SIKAURAI'S QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM. . . AND MY PANDORA DILEMMA
Thank you for viewing sikaurai's site. In order to provide you with the best possible customer service satisfaction, please be advised that your posts and/or comments are being recorded for quality assurance. . . therefore, please refer to sikaurai's above-mentioned site rules in order to prevent any future cyber-boots to the head.
And now, on the news: HEY, FELLOW OTAKUITE MANIACS! sikaurai has both an advertisement and a challenge for you! I'm spreading the word on Pandora.com--or Music Genome Project--, a handy site that allows listeners to expand and diversify their music collection. What it does is simply this: give Pandora your input as to what you like, and it will create a radio station that adapts to your specifications, according to your occasional feedback on its selections. (Thank you, Frogking, for introducing me to the MGP ~ Froggy is, and always has been, 'da man in 'da KNOW.)
But here's sikaurai's problem: Listeners have the option of buying tracks at the adjoined ITunes link. But everytime I go there, I'm advised that the artist "is not found". My buddy Rez tells me that my tastes tend to be a tad obscure (ie. Bowery Ltc., L'Spaerow, Vanishing Kids, Praga Khan), and I was directed to IMesh, a music browser with with an allegedly more diverse library. Well, I can only get what I want twenty-five percent of the time there. I've also tried Yahoo, MSN, and a couple others. SIKAURAI IS GETTING FRUSTRATED.
Does anybody have any cool download sites they can recommend? Pretty please? Pretty, pretty, pretty please? Comments (6) |

MORE FAN-ART . . . GO, MOLLY, GO!
Well, I finished up my last Oban pic. I just submitted it--at 5 in the morning, in my typical insomniac way--with the intent to capture the ambience of the artistic concept as it was originally designed. Alas, my level of skill does it no justice. At any rate, it is my latest homage, so feel free to blast or praise--however you see fit!
Oh, and if you don't know OBAN, then feel free to reference my vid-clip below. . . CHEERS, EVERYONE! Comments (7) |

SERIOUSLY . . . I NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT I'M DOING!!!
Ahhhh, I accidentally erased my last post about the so-called "fan-art". (So now I'm pouting. Unh.) Please cue the drumroll: SIKAURAI IS TECHNOLOGICALLY INEPT!
Anyhoo, I had mentioned a piece of Ukyo art in the last entry, and hailed it as a wonderful piece of fan-art . . .but as it turns out, I failed to notice the piece in its original context--an error that was politely pointed out to me by a friend. He said, "That's not fan-art. It's a DVD cover, you moron."
Well, so what??? It's still cool! (swoons) SO POSTING USUAL DISCLAIMER HERE: I TAKE NO CREDIT FOR THIS WORK!!! (Thanx, Animi, for finding this, btw . . . and I hope you don't mind me using it.
YES, I LIKE UKYO--AS EVERYONE CAN TELL. . . HE'S SUCH A SNAKE; HE MAKES ME GIGGLE LIKE A SILLY TWIT! Comments (8) |

OBAN STAR-RACERS!!! Before It Went Overseas . . . VERY CUTE!
I SAW THE COOLEST FANART!!!!!!
Omigod, I'll probably get in trouble for doing this, but I have to tout the BEST fanart piece on Ukyo I have EVER SEEN!!!!! The link is: http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y299/IgnisFerus/Pix/?action=view¤t=release-dvd-12.jpg
I don't know who this artist is, but I want to shake that person's hand!!!!!
Also, I've had some comments about the contents of my portfolio as of late . . . yeah, my work is sappy. The contents are googly-eyed. Yeah, whatever. I know, the book is NOTHING like that, but I can't sketch combat scenes like I can WRITE them. . . soon, though, soon. (still trying to work on the ED pic!!! *grumbles*) Comments (2) |

GRAPHIC CONTENT? . . .
Recently received an inquiry into the progress of the "War of the Realms", and I am sorry to report that I am 800 pages into it. I have reached the part where Sascha and Kimihana are being tormented by the primary antagonist Akiramaru, both mentally and physically. . . and my wolfen champion is being forced to perform violent acts in the spirit of humiliation. ER. . . I actually sent this scene to a good friend of mine who is editing my work as I go along, just because the chapter is becoming so hard to swallow. Is it possible that a scene could actually be considered too gratuitous for publication in a book marketed for the fantasy genre? Hmmmm. . . what does everybody else think? I don't want to be labeled as a writer who takes too many liberties with my artistic licensure. . .can anyone come up with examples of books out there that actually turned you off because of the graphic content? WHAT INCONCEIVABLE TIMING!!
A friend from "the outside" and I were collaborating on a new look for my website, and I wanted to go with a trance theme. (Enter the whole Bowery Electric montage) When the process was complete, and we went back to check our work, we got the error message. . . that same dreaded error message that signaled the website's seeming armageddon this weekend. Cue the wide eyes and the big UH OH--jeez, was it just me??? After several silly attempts at re-entry, an unnecessary reboot, and some stupid looks (gaping jaws), I was finally informed by my more techno-savvy compatriot that no, we hadn't managed to completely screw up my account--theOtaku was indeed down. Could we have timed up better? Kinda comedic. . . Comments (1) |

WHAT A CROCK!!!! WARNING: SAMURAI7 SPOILER!!!!!!!
UNBELIEVABLE!!! I finally got to see the final Samurai7 episode. . . Ukyo dies so wussily (um, I know, "wussily" isn't a word) All this time, I've been cheering the series' bad guy on as the most colorfully, conniving, fun character I've seen in anime in a long time, and his death scene disappoints me. I mean, his last, dying word is "KIRARA"??? GIMME ME A BREAK!! Oh, well. At least it wasn't something trite like, "I'll be back", or "I'll have my revenge". . . I was on the edge of my seat when he threw his little tantrum on Kikuchiyo. And I sniffled a little when Heihachi went down with the engine. . . at least HIS last words touched a cord. But Katsushiro? I think Kambei should have smacked him again, just for good measure. I won't say what happens to Kyuzo, but. . . Katsu whines way too damn much. Somebody throw him a tissue.
