Game Review: Coded Arms (PSP)
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I recently rented coded arms for my PSP. I didn't finish the game 100% but I did get very close to the end. This game actually surprised me. It's the first FPS that's actually been pretty difficult for me, but not because of the story, because the PSP just wasn't designed for shooters.

Sure racing games are easy for the PSP to handle, all you need is a D-pad and the X button. FPS you need two analog sticks and almost all the buttons on the controller. A main problem coded arms faced is that the PSP doesn't have 2 analog sticks, which makes it very difficult to maneuver. I had the controls set so that the D-pad moved me and the X/O/Square/Triangle buttons had me look around. I Flick the analog stick down to reload and sideways to switch weapons, which makes it very difficult when you're trying to kill and you keep having to flick the stick.

There were a few ups to the game. The graphics and sound were very impressive for the first FPS to come out on the PSP. The story wasn't as great as Red Faction or Halo, but heck I'll take it. It's less about the story and more about the killing after all, right? The weapons system was pretty original. You have three different sets, Normal, Light, Fire, and Electric. Each class has a pistol, and is more effective against a certain type of enemy. You collect crystals to make you're weapons stronger, and throughout the game you pick up a pretty heavy arsenal. My top 5 favorites were Shotgun, Assault Riffle, Bolt Pistol, Rocket Launcher, and Fire Grenade Launcher. Now those sound like some average weapons almost every shooter has, but there are other cooler guns like the Electricity Ray. It shoots a large bolt of lightning at you enemy and zaps them until they're down.

I've played many shooters and know where this is on the scale. My all-time favorites are Red Faction, Halo, Killzone, and Project Snowblind. Let's just say if I were you, I'd go buy those instead of this one. If you are looking for a shooter for the PSP this game isn't terrible, but I'd wait to see what Stand Alone Complex has to offer. I give this game a 6/10. This game did set a standard for future FPS games on the PSP though, and if they can get the controls down you bet we'll see some good shooters coming soon.

Rod's score - 6.5/10
Jake's score - 6/10

FIREWORKS!
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Last night over the Ohio river one of the biggest fireworks shows of the nation took place. The WEBN (Hard rock radio) fireworks take place in between two bridges, on the Ohio river near Cincinnati. Huge barges filled with a few tons of pyrotechnics come in to fire off the coolness. Over a million people were there to watch the fireworks in person. The guys at the SSF found a cool riverboat to hijack (not really) and set up camp until the big bang. We interviewed people and when the time came, recorded most of the show. We're trying to get the video posted on one of our other sites, if we do, we'll update ya.

It started with a sign lighting up that said WEBN and Toyota right below. Then fireworks shot up that said W-E-B-N. From there it was like a thirty minute grand finale, no joke. The rigged up the bridges so fireworks not only shot off them, but also poured down into the river looking similar to a waterfall.

Another cool thing was that it was synchronized with the radio stations music. When NIN's 'With Teeth' came on it was perfectly done. When the song mentioned a heart a heart shaped firework shot up. The booms were almost perfectly synchronized with the drums.

When the played iron man the booms were so loud it actually popped both my ears! You can't beat fireworks when the ashes are actually falling on you.

The picture above was not taken by us, but it's still of the same show. Our pics are still on the camera. We'll try to update and get them on ASAP.

So If you're ever in Cincinnati over labor day weekend, GO TO THE SHOW!

Hurricane Hell
Hurricane Katrina is a name everybody has heard by now. Thanks to this hurricane gas is up to almost $4.00 a gallon near me. Of course before I start ******** about my problems remember those in New Orleans. I lost a friend to this devastating event, I got the call earlier today from his mother. So for those who believe in God, pray for them. For those who don't believe in God...Send money to help.

If we all help out, we'll live through this event, a stronger, more united nation.

Iron Man ********
I recently bought the newest Black Sabbath CD. Not really new, but still awesome. IRON MAN LIVES AGAIN!!

IRON MAN:
Has he lost his mind?
Can he see or is he blind?
Can he walk at all,
Or if he moves will he fall?
Is he alive or dead?
Has he thoughts within his head?
We’ll just pass him there
Why should we even care?

He was turned to steel
In the great magnetic field
Where he traveled time
For the future of mankind

Nobody wants him
He just stares at the world
Planning his vengeance
That he will soon unfold

Now the time is here
For iron man to spread fear
Vengeance from the grave
Kills the people he once saved

Nobody wants him
They just turn their heads
Nobody helps him
Now he has his revenge

Heavy boots of lead
Fills his victims full of dread
Running as fast as they can
Iron man lives again!

   School Ain't cool!
Here at the SSF we're all in some form of education. From Freshman in High School to Senior in College. If the amount of posts decline, you now know why.

Well my friends for us school has begun. Wes has changed schools and the rest of us are still surviving. Some of the members of the SSF that live on the west coast have changed around, but us on the east coast don't really care about them. Most of the teachers we have we already hate, Rod has successfully got a detention the first week of school. It's going to be a long year!

So anyone out there want to comment?

In your honor (Solo)
I'd like to dedicate a moment of silence to a person that has recently left the OB staff, Solo Tremaine. When I first joined (with my old account) OB he closed the first thread I wrote saying there were many threads on the subject and that I was as worthless as his dogs **** (no he didn't say that last part). He's one of my favorite mods out of all the forums I've visited and I'll be sad to see him go. I hope he keeps posting now that he's not a mod.

Also I've added all the current banners we've made to the banner/avatar orphanage on OB. Compared to some other artists, WE SUCK! But check us out anyway!
