~~~~~~~~~~~Part 1~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She looked up at the picture on her wall in her apartment, tears steaming down her face. Akio listened to her neighbors fighting again. It calmed her down a little hearing them rant, but she burst into tears again soon after remembering him.
Her boyfriend had admitted that he was cheating on her and said he didn’t love her, that he was using her to get another girl. Listening to her neighbors slam doors next door, she turned on her side on the bed and hugged her pillow. Akio knew that she should call someone or talk to someone at least. She finally decided to head over to the restaurant 3 blocks from her apartment where a friend worked. Quickly she threw on a pair of dark jeans and a grey tank top with a black semi jacket, and then slipped on her pleather blazer. After making herself presentable she just slipped on her boots. She happened to look up at the mirror and saw her face.
“I can’t go out looking like this”
Black lines had trailed down her cheeks along with the silver glimmer of her eyeliner. Carefully she cleaned up her face from her crying and went over to the door. Slowly she stepped into the hallway jumping when she hard a thud against the door behind her from something hitting the wall next door, and went to the elevator. She stepped inside alone trying not to listen to the pathetic tune coming from the speaker. She entered the bottom floor and went to the entrance leaving the building, wrapping her coat tighter around her against the cold. She looked around a moment at the amount of people still walking around at that time of night and walked down the street. Slowly she turned the corner towards the restaurant; the streets were busy for being so late at night, which made it kind of difficult when it came to walking.
“This is definitely the city that never sleeps.”
Cars slowly moved by and every so often a car horn sounded, but Aiko didn’t really hear it. Her mind wandered as she walked towards the diner. Mostly they were thoughts of why he would drop her like that or how the hell she was so stupid to actually go out with a guy like him.
In a few minutes she stepped into the diner and took a seat at a table she normally sat at.
“Well, hey there sweetness!” She heard a man’s voice and ignored it until she felt a hand on her shoulder.
“It’s not like ya to not reply. Somethin wrong?” She looked up at the guy and saw it was Ronin.
“Oh. Hi, sorry just kinda preoccupied.” He narrowed his hazel eyes at her.
“I know somethin’s up, and you’re not tellin me.” He sat down at the table across from her and motioned to the diner owner that he was taking his break.
“It’s nothing Ronin, really.” He just smirked at her.
“I bet I know what it is, it’s that bastard of a boyfriend, isn’t it?” She looked up at him and a tear started to form in her eye.
“It is. I thought so. He dropped ya tonight?” Akio nodded and sat back in the booth sliding down a little. He slowly lowered his head slightly, got up, and sat next to her. She looked up at him and he wrapped his arms around her.
“You deserve better than him anyway don’t linger on him. He’s not worth your energy.” She hugged him tightly.
“I know it’s just, I’m more angry at myself for thinking he was actually gonna change.” He laughed slightly.
“I’ll stand by ya.” She smiled gently.
“Thankx. I knew I could count on you to cheer me up.” He winked at her.
“I know something that will make ya feel even better.” She narrowed her eyes at him and was a little uneasy of what he was thinking, knowing Ronin’s typical thoughts.
“Do I even wanna know what you’re thinking...”
Two hours later Akio and Ronin were enjoying a third sundae each.
“You know me too well you know that?” Ronin just laughed.
“Hell yea I do.” She laughed and just shook her head. She playfully nudged him in the side. He made a small whining noise, and made them laugh even more.
Out of the corner of his eye he saw the diner owner coming towards the table. She stopped and leaned on the table they were sitting at. Ronin’s face, which was normally a light tan, went a slightly pale color.
“Look flirty, I don’t mind you talking to girls or taking a break to be with one, but when my customers start getting scared... You need to take it somewhere else.” He nodded slowly to her.
“Yes, mam.” She nodded and went back to the kitchen and he let out a long sigh. Akio gave a soft laugh at him.
“Hmm? I think that your stress level was raised by 5 points there.” He glared at her. “
Yea your’s would to if you saw her when she’s pissed.” Akio just laughed.
“Well better get outta here then.” He nodded quickly and followed her out after signing out. He buttoned up his coat as he left the diner. Akio was holding her pleather blazer shut tightly around her.
