~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning she saw that she had forgotten to pull down her shade when she was met with the bright morning sunlight. Blinking a few times she looked at the clock and saw it was 7am, she picked up the phone on her nightstand and dialed her work number.
“Pier 1 checking area, Cait speaking.” Akio smiled it was a very close friend of hers from work thankfully and not her manager.
“Hi this is Akio.”
“Akio, hiya how are you?” She just shook her head at her enthusiasm.
“Been better. Can I ask a favor of you?” She heard laughing on the other end of the phone.
“Not comin in today?”
“No… I just have too much on my mind wouldn’t be much help.”
“No prob, Akio. I’ll cover for you. Hope ya can get everything settled! Bye!”
“Byeya Cait and thanks.” She hung up the phone and looked over at her window. The morning light sent a gentle wash of sunlight over the buildings and a glow to the city. She stood after a few moments and took up her Katana. Practicing a few of her moves she needed for the competition the following weekend, she heard the doorbell ring. Akio placed the blade back in its sheath and set it in the case on her bed. She went over to the door looked to see who it was.
Surprised she saw no one there and curious she opened the door. Cautiously she looked up and down the hallway and saw no one. Kind of disappointed Akio looked down and saw a bouquet of Roses with a note attached to it. Carefully pulling the note off, she read it to herself.
‘Hey sweetness, Ronin told me what happened last night and I felt like you needed something to perk you up. So I got you some roses to add some brightness to your day. If you can take off of work today I’ll pick you up later and we can drop by the bar on 6th street. Hope ya don’t mind if we go there for 4pm. I’ll have Ronin with me so I hope you don’t mind that either. But please do me a favor and brighten up a little baby girl. See you later then.
Lots of love,
Kisho and Ronin
P.S. We both paid for the flowers hope you really like them.’
The tears started to fall from Akio’s eyes.
‘They are so sweet… almost exactly like older brothers to me.’ She picked up the vase of flowers and brought them inside closing the door. She set them on her windowsill and turned back to her bed to make it. The soft flannel sheets were comforting for her last night and the peaceful sleep still lingered around her. She slowly folded over the top of the sheet and looked up at her mirror on the wall. As she watched her reflection in the mirror she saw a figure behind her. Slowly she took a breath and tried to stay calm so that the figure would not notice she saw them.
The way the light cast a silhouette over the form made it nearly impossible to see any features on it. Closing her eyes for a minute she grabbed and unsheathed her sword on the figure. It ducked out of the way quickly, but as she rushed she could very easily distinguish one feature.
‘Silver and blue hair…’ The figure jumped at her from behind and pinned her to the floor. Akio could feel the weight of it on her back keeping her pinned. Its breathing was calm and she felt the warmth of each breath against her ear as it leaned down to her.
“I’ve been watching you. You have no clue who you really are... do you? It’s a pity; you’re much stronger than this Sakura. You know you are down in your soul. And you know who I am. My features may be different but you know my name, past, and life.” Akio held her breath the male voice made her ears burn, and eyes tear.
‘Who is this guy… and how the hell did he get in…’ The man did not move from his position or make any movement that would allow her to get up.
“Who are you?” She heard a laugh escape his throat, and a shiver ran through her body.
“You honestly don’t remember me, Sakura?” She growled slightly in frustration.
“My name is not Sakura, its Akio. May at least know your’s?” Her voice had more of a bite to it than she meant to let come. He laughed again at her tone and moved back swiftly off her. She heard the door close and the man leave. She looked up slowly at the doorway and tried to think of what had just happened to her and why that man had called her Sakura. Slowly not knowing what she should really do she turned to the window closed and locked it so that no one could come in if they wanted to. Then ran and locked the dead bolt on the door. After checking the door she collapsed to her knees sobbing. That was when she heard a knock at the door.
“Akio? You home? It’s Kisho.” She continued to sob and unlocked the door recognizing the voice. She sat next the door.
“It’s open… Kisho…” He slowly opened the door and saw her sitting on the floor with tears streaming down her face. His expression changed from his normal carefree nature to worry.
“Akio, what happened? Why are you so upset?” He sat down on the floor and moved closer to her in attempt to comfort her.
“Kisho... It’s just… nothing, don’t worry about it I’ll survive.” Akio looked away and wiped her eyes relaxing herself a little more. He lowered his head and pulled her a little closer to him.
“I know you better than that and you know that. Tell me what’s wrong.” She slowly looked up at him expecting to see a look of pity on his face, but surprisingly she saw a look of worry.
“It’s just I was attacked a few moments before you came in and I was a little out of it.” His eyes went cold.
“What do you mean attacked?! Were you in here or outside?”
“I was in here. Then the next thing I knew I was down on the ground with ‘him’ pinning me.” He thought for a moment and she knew exactly what he was thinking. “No it wasn’t my ex. It was someone different… colder and he kept calling me Sakura.” Kisho turned to his thoughts and looked back at her after a few moments.
“You are going to stay with me and Ronin tonight.” She just shook her head and agreed knowing that it was impossible to change his mind.
“One thing though… You may have to share a bed with me or him, because I’m not sleepin with a guy, even for you sweet.” She laughed and just looked at him.
“Fine, I can deal with that as long as you both are good and no ganging up on me.” He winked at her jokingly.
“No promises there...” She nudged him in the side playfully and then got up. He stood up, then pulled her up next to him, wrapped his arms around her, and felt her arms wrap around him. He felt her smile and then pull away.
“Ok let me get a few things together and I’ll go with you.” He nodded and sat down in her recliner as she packed a small duffel with clothes, her sword, and a few essentials. She looked at him still slightly shaken. He just gave a reassuring smile, picked up the duffel and went out the door; she left a note for her tenant and turned to leave, but walked into something. Then she felt two arms wrap tightly around her.
