“Very homey place huh Akio?” She nodded and kept close too him. She had also noticed that all the people in the bar were unlike any she had ever seen. Most had some sort of mark on their face, necks or arms. One mark she did notice was the mark of a fallen angel, in total she saw four of them, each looked battered and worn out, even though they looked no older than her.
“Some of these people are fallen angels Ronin.” He looked at her slightly confused.
“How can you tell?”
“The black mark right under the right eye that looks like a snake with two dots on the one side, is the mark of a fallen angel.” He became even more uneasy about being there even though they had not been met with any hostility what-so-ever.
“I thought you two would never come.” Akio recognized the voice from the call, and looked in that direction.
“Don’t be scared. No one here will harm you. Your one of them and they sense that.” Ronin and Akio stepped up to the bartender who had identified himself as the mystery caller.
“What do you mean by one of them? Mr. Uh…”
“Just call me Tsuki. Most do here. You both had the vision of the war right?” Both nodded and looked to him questioningly.
“Let your hearts be at ease, both of you are actually demons that as infants had sent here, to live in secret to avoid that war. Both of you were the lucky ones to find a life and forget about what happened. But... now there is a problem... Akio you’ve already experienced it in your attack. That man that attacked you was a very powerful demon that we’ve come to call ‘silver death’, because of his blue and silver hair, normally he is a ruthless assassin, but has one weakness.” Akio shivered at the memory of him pinning her to the ground and the coldness in his voice.
“What’s the weakness?” Tsuki looked from her to Ronin.
“You love her don’t you Ronin?” He looked at Tsuki confused at how he knew his name, and love for Akio.
“Yes, would do anything for her.”
“Heh, I thought so. That man that attacked her is the same way, but for different reasons. You see her bloodline is a unique one; it’s made up of half fallen angel and the latter being a very powerful line of fire demon. That line makes her the only one that can kill him, so hence if he can make her love him he has nothing to worry about.” Akio saw fire in as he explained what that creature’s intention had been.
“That bastard…” Her teeth were tightly clenched as she slowly spoke the words. Ronin put an arm around her.
“Akio don’t do anything stupid.” Tsuki nodded in agreement.
“You haven’t awakened yet to whom both of you really are yet. This is why I called you here, and also to give you something that will start the conversion.” He looked to Ronin first.
“As you know Ronin, your name means a samurai without a master. Well that is a small part of your ability. You are unmatched with a weapon, such as a whip, sword, or gun. But also have the ability to sooth the heart with the sound of your voice. Your father was an extremely skilled samurai, and your mother was an apocathary, that had the voice of an angel.” He looked then to Akio.
“Like I told you, your half fallen angel, and half fire demon. You can use fire by chanting, and sometimes create a firestorm when you want to. You also have the ability to use your fallen angel ability to show your black wings and fly, with the means to fire poisonous ice crystals from your claws at your enemies.” The two of them looked at him stupefied at what they had just heard. Tsuki slightly laughed at their expressions and turned to the safe behind him. Ronin looked at Akio, just as she did the same.
“It explains the vision and why I was attacked, but still…”
“I hear you that way Akio.” Tsuki looked back at them with a vial of liquid that was a pale lavender color.
“Tonight drink this liquid both of you. Just don’t leave each other. Ronin, she’ll change first since her blood is pure half and half. Then you will. Just support each other through it; because I won’t lie to you… it will be painful, sometimes extremely as your body changes to the way it was supposed to be.” Akio took the vial from Tsuki and lowered her eyes.
“This explains why I never felt like I belonged here, I always felt like I was the odd one out...” Ronin nodded in agreement.
“I had always felt the same way.” Ronin added with a little embarrassment. Tsuki nodded.
“I’m sorry that we had to put you two through this… but we can’t hide you any longer. I would say goodbye to your friends before you take this since it will react within minutes.” They nodded and thanked him for telling them the truth. He wished them luck, and left with Ronin’s arm around Akio’s waist. The situation had seemed to increase their bond even more since they were both in the same situation.
They opened the door to the apartment and went inside. Kisho had been sitting on the couch obviously worrying about both of them.
“What happened?!” They just looked at him with a slightly dazed look.
“What is it? Tell me what happened Ronin.” Ronin shook his head.
“I can’t tell ya... cause I barely believe it...” Kisho looked more worried than ever. Then both Ronin and Akio went up to Kisho and gave him a hug. Freaking him out even more, throwing his usual calm and serious manner out the window.
“Thank you for letting me live with you Kisho. Ya helped me through many hard times.” Kisho felt Ronin tighten his grip. He heard Akio silently sob.
“Thanks too for being there when I needed it. Sometimes I don’t know what I would have done without ya.” Kisho felt tears start to well up and knew something was going to happen that would separate them. He wrapped his arms around the two of them, as a silent tear fell. After a few moments they broke the hug and looked for a second at each other.
“Kisho, tonight we have to do something that is very intense. I don’t want you to get mixed up in it no matter what you hear. We’ll come out when we can.”
“What is it that ya have to do?” Akio held up the small vial.
“This liquid is what will reveal what we really look like.” Kisho looked at her like she had lost it.
“What do ya mean; show what ya really look like?” She lowered her head not sure how to explain to him what would happen that upcoming night.
“You’ll see after it’s done.” Akio felt some tears start to come, but Ronin wrapped his arms around her. She leaned back in his embrace to try and relax her feelings that were in a twist with the unknown she was about to endure. Ronin moved slightly edging her to the room so they could start the transformation. Akio took the hint and started back towards the room.
“Akio are you ready for this?” She nodded unable to really speak. Ronin nodded and opened the door allowing them in. Closing the door behind him, and then locking it, he looked back to Akio. She had sat down on his bed, and was in a daze. Slowly sitting next to her he put an arm on her shoulder.
“I won’t leave your side while this happens. I just want you to know that.” She smiled at the concern in his voice.
“Thank you Ronin.” Akio gave him a full kiss one last time in her human body that she had possessed for the past twenty-some years. She picked up the vial and drank half the liquid then handed it to Ronin who drank the rest. Both winced at the foul taste and smell that came with it.
A few seconds later Akio felt a burning sensation in her stomach, like someone made her swallow a hot coal. The pain started almost immediately after, like shards of glass and ice being ripped into her. She doubled over in extreme pain trying to not think of it, but it was no use. She fell on the floor tensing with each spasm of pain.
