_____Lionel Luthor
John Glover (Lionel Luthor)
A veteran actor of theater, film, and television, Glover won a Tony award in 1995 for his performances in the play "Love! Valor! Compassion!" and has been Emmy-nominated five times.
His impressive resume also includes such box office hits as "Payback" with Mel Gibson, Woody Allen's "Annie Hall" "Robocop 2" and ""Love! Valour! Compassion!" Glover lit up the small screen as well with Emmy-nominated turns in the series "Frazier," "LA Law" and "Crime & Punishment."
Glover has played more despicable (and believable) villains than any other actor in the business. His portrayals include villains such as the pornographer-blackmailer in "52 Pick-Up," the mad scientist Dr. Jason Woodrue in "Batman & Robin," a manic TV executive in "Gremlins 2: The New Batch" and a drunken murderer in "Masquerade." Taking his villainous streak to the extreme, Glover portrayed Satan in "Brimstone."
Glover's role in "Smallville" marks his third association with a role linked to DC Comics--first as the Riddler in "Batman: The Animated Series" (1992), then as Dr. Jason Woodrue in "Batman & Robin" (1997) and now as Lionel Luthor in "Smallville."
Glover splits his time between Maryland (where he was born), Los Angeles and Vancouver. Striving to increase the awareness for the disease as well as raise much-needed funds for a cure, John dedicates his time to the Alzheimer's Association. He also funds a scholarship for actors at his alma mater, Towson University, and returns to teach classes in his free time.
