Updation
Well, nothing has really happened. Turned 19 without incident. Dad didn't come, surprise me not. I did buy the first 25 episodes of Gundam Wing. I'm on 22.
As for today, well, I went to the arcade with my friend, haven't seen her in a while. She graduates on Tuesday, and as far as I can tell she's excited. I'm watching my mom's dog. So far my favorite times have been when Joey's been asleep. He's not chewing my bag then. I'm staying at my grandma's for the night, but I have to head home fairly early tomorrow because I have to get Noura over to my house. Tysias (the friend I went to the arcade with) thinks we need to get together... sorta like we did on my graduation.
Yeah, best party ever involved going for Hawaiian ice and a run on Hastings for anime. It was probably the most fun I've had at a party, and I didn't have to spend two months cleaning candy wrappers out from every crevase in my room... a la my 13th b-day. I can tell you right now, nougat is hell to get out of a bedspread.
Hm... I updated my comic, and I'm hard at work on the elf one. I'm in the process of drawing page six, which puts me at halfway through the first page of script. I'm going fairly detailed on this one.
Noura has commisioned me to draw a manga of her new story, so I'm going to have her bring it tomorrow and I'll copy it. She writes in script format so it'll be cake to draw. The one thing is she doesn't write a lot of description, so I have to take a shot in the dark for some of the characters and scenes. Usually they come out right, sometimes I have to tweak a little. But I can picture them, and when I told her about it, she sort of agreed with me. So I think this is a go.
So many projects... and I intend to learn to play the guitar, if not totally at least a little better, by the end of the break. Guess I better get to it!

And now it's time for a two AM post...
No, really, started writing this post at two in the morning. Be amazed... or not, I am an insomniac after all. So... what is new in the life of Solaris?
Well, for starters, I just turned 19 on the 9th. My grandparents just got home from Florida yesterday afternoon, and my dad doesn't seem to be coming.
HALLELUJAH! *conviniently placed Hallelujah Chorus here*
So... what else? Well, I'm at 13000 gold on Gaia. Makes me smile. Heh. I'm also getting the RPG thing under control. I have an addiction... and a system. See, if a RP goes for three months with no reply, I remove it from my list of subscribed threads. That is my shinobi way! *too much Naruto lately... le sigh*
I finally got Kingdom Hearts... yes, several years after it was released... Shut up. I do this a lot. The only games I've ever wanted to get right after they were released were DDR (any of them), DragonQuest VIII, and Final Fantasy: Dirge of Cerrberus. Which is funny because I suck at first-person shooters. Seriously. I got the game for Christmas '06, and I still haven't cleared the first level. I fail at life... or at keeping Vincent alive and in ammo. Choose your poison.
Started a new Gundam Wing fanfic, because my old one has died. Died and been buried. It will be sorely missed. Okay, so I know where it is and could write more on it if I wanted, I just... don't want to. I have no inspiration for that one.
Hm... what else can I ramble on about? Well, there's a new manga I'm hooked on. Free Collars Kingdom: it's all neko, and it's cute as hell. I just got the second volume today, and I'll be lucky if my friend/neighbor doesn't steal it Monday morning when she comes over to get a ride to school from my mom.
I need to get back to work on cl101. I was at Target earlier, which is funny because I hate Target with a flaming passion... it's an overpriced Wal-Mart, honestly, and they overcharge on the clothes... but I digress. I made the horrible, horrible mistake of telling my mom I wanted to see if I could find some shorts that weren't Daisy Dukes, and she dragged me all through the junior girl's department looking at clothing she deemed 'classy' and 'suited' to my figure. For the love of life, I don't want to dress classy, I want to dress grunge/punk/how I normally dress. It's my comfort zone. Her clever retort? 'You're going to be a teacher, and they have to dress nice, and besides, you're too old to dress like a punk'. For the love of God, I just turned 19 three days ago! I've still got good punk time! Sheesh... She irks me sometimes... okay, a lot of the time. But yanno what? I have cash, and more coming. And dad owes me for missing my birthday when he promised to come (not that I wanted him to, but he still used the words 'I promise' when he told me he'd be here, so I still win in some sick, twisted fashion), so I can get him to fund my anime habit, and go clothes shopping at Hot Topic if I so desire.
Nevermind the fact that I looked in there today and didn't see a damn thing I wanted. Just ignore that fact all together and we shall get along fine. Point of this Target tirade is, I got an idea for a script that involved someone dragging another cast member to shop for clothes, and I liked the idea. So blame my mother for that... and the addition of a skirt to my wardrobe... sheesh, where the hell am I going to wear a skirt?! I don't wear dresses or skirts, that's how I am. You have to fight me to get me out of jeans for a wedding or a funeral. Seriously, the person doesn't care if I come in looking like I just stepped off some runway in Paris. They probably just care that I showed up instead of sleeping through it.
I'll probably be the type to elope and wear jeans to my wedding, now that I think about it. Because I went to this wedding a few weeks back, and there's just so much ceremony and pomp and shit involved in it, that I just really don't want to have that much mess. Walking for graduation was annoying enough. There were all these teachers that I had no idea who they were, never had a class with them, and they were bawling like were going to move off to a foreign land and never see them again, when most of us ended up going to the college in the next town over, and half of that number still live with their parents. *a little bitter to be part of both groups, because it is not flattering, believe you me* It annoyed me... all the waterworks over a two-hour ceremony just so we could take thirty minutes for everyone and get an EMPTY holder and a handshake from some dude I didn't even know...
Still, make your kids walk, because it may be the only chance they get. Make them do it just so they know the annoyance that crying teachers and long boring ceremonies are. It just makes the after-graduation parties and time with your friends that much more sweet.
Well, I apologize for this rambling hell-long post, but I had a lot to say and little time to say it. And forgive the randomness, it's currently 2:21 AM and I'm tired as hell. So I'm gonna go on and toddle off to bed. Mata ashita, minna-san. Solaris out.

I got all A's and B's! SAFE! Still have a 3.40 GPA, and I'm happy. This is from not really studying all year too.... it's scary.
It's like my friends said in high school... if I put half my brain to taking over the world, we'd all be in trouble... oh, wait, no, that was 'if I had half a brain, I'd be dangerous'. Never mind.

I'M OUT FOR THE SEMESTER!!!
Yosh! ^____^
Just finished my last test about 25 minutes ago, give or take. I'm done for the semester, and I am so ready to get to a summer of kicking back, relaxing, and not having to worry about how many calories per gram protein has. Or what the purpose of mitosis plus cytokinesis is. Or ANY OF THAT!
Downside: dial up internet. Yuck.
But I can handle that, because I get to stay home! Oh, home, sweet home! *sorely tempted to turn on Home Sweet Home- Reborn by Homemade Kazoku, but doesn't have her headphones* And I get to sleep! And in celebration, I'm gonna draw when I get home! Well... that and I want to finish up chapter one of cl101. It's fun, but there's a limit to how long I wanna wait... and how long you should have to.
Because I'm not going to Florida. There are better places I can be on my birthday. Like within shouting distance of my friends, and out of shouting distance of my dad. Who thinks he's coming up here for my birthday. Okay, more like he promised, and I know what his promises come to. Zip.

ONE FINAL TO GO!!!
Yes, you read right, one to go! I only have concepts of fitness before I'm done for the semester! Summer off for me! Yatta! ^____^
In other news, I am NOT going to Florida. So the hiatus for cl101 should be over relatively soon. After I finish uploading the first chapter, though, all bets are off. I'll be back on hiatus for that until I get at least ten pages on my elf comic. Which, at the rate I can draw, shouldn't be too long. It'll be coloring the pages that will be a bitch. Because, yes, it will be full color. And the two pages cl101 will have when I come back? They will be color as well! And since I'm messing with color holds and such, I'm probably going to do it in marker and color hold the panels and such. 'Tis all so fun.

Hey, in case you didn't notice, I changed up a couple of the colors. Yeah, I was looking at this site the other night, and I noticed that it was kinda hard to read... amazingly enough, I didn't notice this until I got my glasses. That's kinda pathetic. But anyway, I thought that the dark blue would be easier to read, and it eliminates the annoying element of the pink. So, yeah, enjoy. Mata ashita, minna-san. Solaris out.

Warning to all intending to go to college:
Know your way around the bureaucratic mumbo-jumbo they'll throw at you.
Seriously.
This post was written under incredible mental duress and as such will have some unsavory language. Basically I am going to be ranting. So yeah, there's your warning.
First, I went to the education building to change my major, which these people have already screwed up. They've got me down as Education with an emphasis in Psychology, and I'm going for Spanish. So, anyhow, I go see them, they tell me that I need to go see the head of the languages department, who then tells me that I need to go to the advising center to change my major and get advised before I register for the next semester. So I went there today, and they tell me I need to go back to the education building, which apparently only handles teacher placement for internships. Fun fun. So I now have two options: go to the registrar's and fill out the form that has to be signed by everyone and their mother, or just let it slide for another semester. Which is not happening. Or, yanno, I could see if I can transfer my scholarship and go to my first-choice if they have openings and will accept scholarships, because obviously these people do not have a freaking clue what they're doing.
This after the hilarity of financial aid screwing my mom over. I swear, it would almost make me wonder about whether college was worth it, if I didn't know the stats. Got to love the educational system here. Not.
So... that's my rant. Going into finals week now. I have the CAAP exam Wednesday, Philosophy on Friday the 27, Biology on Monday the 30, and Concepts of Fitness on the 1. So I've got a busy time ahead of me.

Bad Solaris! No cookie! Okay, I have a good excuse for not updating.
Finals.

Composition II final this week.
Must study.
And yes, the way I'm typing is how I've been talking lately. I do good to have one complete sentence a day. 'Tis busy as all heck here. I broke down yesterday and ranted on my livejournal instead of here because there I can curse to my heart's content and not worry about it.
I look like... a hippie Duo today. I swear it. I've got this hippie-style shirt on, and I had to braid my hair back today or I would have gone insane. So... I'm just lucky my Duo-crazy friend isn't here. Otherwise I'd be dead.
My glasses came in yesterday, but I've got to pick them up today. I may get some pics... but from now on, the chibi-version of the authoress in cl101 will be drawn with glasses. Because I'm going to have to wear them almost all the time.

My speech!
Well, everyone... here's some news on my speech...
I GOT A 95 ON IT! WOO-HOO!
And she commented that it was much improved from my first one (I got an 85 on that one...) and that she liked the anecedotes I used. I highly doubt I did much persuading, but I really tried hard on it. And my grade shows that! Yay!
So... I have finals coming up soon. Like within a few weeks soon. So if anyone wants to know my finals schedule so they can brace themselves for the stress and the angst, comment and say you want to know the finals schedule. The earliest I could get a complete schedule would be next Tuesday afternoon, but a partial could be done by tomorrow night. So... yeah.

Sleepy...
And you'd think that with as often as I say that, I'd already know how to say it in Japanese... I mean, I know how to say I'm hungry in Japanese, but sleep escapes me.
Anyway, my composition class was cancelled today, and I have a speech to put the finishing touches on... this is going to be great. Especially considering I have to give the damn thing tomorrow...
So, anyway, finally finished watching POTC last night... good movie. Funny as hell. Now my next goal is to finish watching Yami no Matsuei (because I've had it all this time and I'm still on episode 10 or 11... grr...), Gundam Wing (17 on that one), and Death Note (halfway through episode five, I think...). Oh, and I can't forget that I have to finish Naruto Shippuuden before the 12th so I can get the new one when it comes out. Too much to do, too little time to do it.
Also, to the readers of cl101, I am on a temporary hiatus. Why? Because I have finals coming up soon, and I need to get to studying. I have a scholarship to keep and I really want to get out of this semester with A's and B's. I'm sorry to put it on hiatus, but I have to put studying first.
