There May be Trouble Ahead...
I can't say I'm looking forward to Dad getting home tonight. He's getting a new car and tensions about his driving skills are rising. But it's his own fault, and he doesn't see himself as being wrong- he never does until it's proven to him on all fronts, and even then he can make some idiotically insulting comment about something or another to defend himself.
Ugh. I'll come up with a more inspiring update later, heh. Promise.

Redemption
I posted a new story in The Reanimatrix, and I'm pleased with it. it didn't turn out exactly the way I'd planned, but I think it's slightly better. At least this way it ties in more with the Matrix reality, heh. I hope it pleases ^_^
Well, today was the last Murder Mystery of the year, so it was only right that we should do something special, heh.
It probably would have been better if two people hadn't had to drop out at the last minute, but never mind. It made the story more interesting to follow. As more and more evidence was revealed I could slowly tell that it was my turn to be guilty. I must have changed my story at least three times, heh ^_^;
It turned out that we all committed at least one of the four murders that took place, which was... just that, I guess. I got to wear a different costume today though ^_^ That was very nice, because I get somewhat fed up with having to wear exactly the same thing for every single event. It's hard to be a different character when you're wearing the same thing each time >.>
The writing gets predictable over time, too. Paul does a great job of keeping things going, but you see the same names and scenarios pop up after a few episodes, so much so that it's almost the Petworth House equivalent of Agatha Christie books. But at least with Paul trying to rope different people into participating it changes the way it develops each time.
I still don't handle things that well, considering. But I can think on my feet much faster than I could, even if I have to contradict myself later.
I feel sick though. I shouldn't have eaten that cake before we left, especially as the roads from Petworth are disgustingly windy. The last tme I did that I was so close to throwing up in pauls' car. I took some paracetamol and lay down listening to music for a couple pf hours, but once I started thinking of Devil Stalker story ideas I scared myself too much to want to stay in the dark o_o;
They're good ideas, but not ones you want to think of when all the lights are off. I still get afraid of the dark every so often, but not nearly as much as I used to.
I need a drink of something nice, maybe apple juice and water. My head needs something that'll make it less dehydrated, heh.
Edit: I just found out that a friend of mine was hit by a car in West Street last week. His leg's been seriously broken. He was due to join the army this year, but if it's this serious then there's a chance he might not ever be able to join.
I'm going to see him first thing tomorrow morning, and buy him a big joke book. I know it's something I appreciated when I was in hospital.
*hugs* Take care. |

Driven By Anyone Other Than Him >.>
No, I can't stand being driven by my dad anymore. I want to pass this next test so much it's not funny.
I apologise if there are any spelling mistakes in this, by the way- my computer has a habit of pausing every minute or so, which means I either miss or don't delete a letter, comma, capitalisation etc *hits it*
*winces* I have two deep bruises on my shoulders from where I got hit with paintballs. They hurt a lot more than you might think ^_^; I also took a direct hit on my lower back, on the right. That's not as bad, but it certainly stung, as dd the one on my thigh. If I ever do this again (and I hope to at some point), I'm wearing a cricket box without question.
Reveille
Got up fairly early and immediately sat at the PC to look at people's MyOs, and OB. Apparently I missed a spam event, which I'm both glad and annoyed about for various reasons. Kei did good, though. Muchly kudosness to her, heh.
I had my first shower in a frighteningly long time. My scalp hurt quite a bit when I was washing it actually, so I don't think I'll leave it that long again. It really wasn't intentional, but the times when i normally have a shower (early morning or late evening), I'm either asleep or doing stuff on the computer, so it gets pushed away further and further...
But I am clean now, heh. Well, cleaner. Paintballing wasn't exactly the cleanest of activities ^_^;
I was contracted to drive to the actual centre, which was a good 45 minutes away. Except, I'd interpret it more as a bad 45 minutes because I don't know the roads and I hate heavy traffic. Of which there was a fair amount, especially on the huge roundabouts running all down the side of Chichester. I dislike them quite considerably, especially people who beep their horns at me for not watching where they're going. Aerosols.
That aside, we missed two turnings- one where mum was busy telling me things and I saw the sign to enter the actual venue too late, and the second was on a great long concrete path slap bang in the middle of a field- there were two turnings. One had a slip of paper on, one didn't. We went dwn the one that didn't, seeing as that was the logical direction of the road anyway. Upon approaching a dead end we turned around and then found that the tiny piece of paper read 'Ground Control Paintball Centre'. Way to get noticed.
The site was actually really muddy. It had been raining all day and everything was soaked. I suppose it adds to the 'military training' atmosphere of the place, but it was still rather yukky. I'm just glad I didn't eat or drink anything.
They gave us some tatty overalls (mine had a hole in them >.>) and a black acrylic balaclava thingy to wear over our heads, then presented us with goggles which we were expressedly told not to put on until they told us to. A lot of things had to be drilled into us for safety reasons- no lifting your goggles (which were more like facemasks with visors, technically), no firing the gun at a range of less than about 15 feet, when not in a game only hold your gun by the metal braid attached to it, don't pick up paintballs from the ground, don't stick your gun in your mouth, don't eat the paintballs, don't shoot the marshalls, don't scratch yourself in undignified places... everything like that. Then we were divided into teams, partnered with another group that had joined up.
So then we got to start. We all had 100 paintballs, and they can go very quickly.
The first game was Capture the Flag. You know, the one in UT/Quake where you have to grab the flag from their arena and take it back to yours. We played it for real ^_^
We started off at the far end of the battle-ready wood. Trees were everywhere- both living and dead. Barriers had been put up in strategic places, either made out of planks or big tree trunks, for people to hide behind or leap out from.
When we were given the signal to start we all charged forwards and found our own places of cover, trying to shoot at the Reds who were already on their way down (we were Blue). A couple of our team went down, as did a couple of theirs. I was trapped behind a log I thought was bigger than it actually was, and there was some guy shooting at us from behind a tree up ahead. There were only three of us left at that point, then this guy charged forwards shooting wildly at two of us. I think all three of us were hit, but I honestly don't remember feeling an impact. He might have run out of bullets. But if he hadn't, I certainly would have been hit. So I went back to our base anyway, awaiting a 'resurrection'.
There are only two resurrections a game, so if you only die once and it's after the second resurrection, thats it. But you'd have done very well not to have died for that long anyway, heh.
This was where I got my first 'injury'- My leg was sticking out while I stood behind a tree and I took a hit in the thigh. It stings, being hit by a paintball, which is why I'm going to wear something a bit thicker next time ^_^;
Eventually, with only two of our team left, we grabbed their flag from them and won ^_^
Then we swapped ends and did it again. This time I got hit on my right shoulder and again on my back while running back to base to await resurrection.
We kind of drew this one- I would have made it to the end if I hadn't used up all my paintballs. we were right next to their base, too >.> Still, that was fun. We were allowed a break to buy refills and food and things, then we moved on to the next arena.
This was a variation of Capture the Flag- anyone who's played Unreal Tournament will probably know it as Rocketball, or something like that. The flag's in the centre of the arena and you have to take it into the other player's base to win.
Because I'd held my mask upside down in the rain, the inside was completely fogged up- I could only see out of my very left periphery, which rendered me more or less useless for tha majority of the first game. I think that was where I got my second shoulder hit, but I can't remember.
The second arena was much better than the first- more obstacles ad various ways of sheltering yourself: cars, turrets, makeshift houses... great stuff ^_^. And lots and lots of mud and trees and things.
The second match was a lotmore enjoyable- The other end was easier to travel from to get to a decent shelter, whereas on the other side it was too close, so even though you were covered, if you got pinned then you couldn't move any further.
We didn't win that one- nobody did. Even though I don't think I shot anyone quite a good tactic is ot shoot at people who are shooting at someone else, or move while they're distracted. So I got quite far up the course.
The fifth and final match was a lot less formal. Basically, to be 'resurrected' we just had to touch our base and then run back into the field- the objective was to use up all the paint, because it wasn't any good to them any more once you'd paid for it. One guy bought 300, but ended up with 200 left over, which he took home with him o_o;
I was quite dirty by the end of it, but throwing myself around in the mud in the heat of battle was fun ^_^ Doesn't make me want to join the Territorial Army or anything like that, but I'd be interested in doing paintballing again if there was another opportunity, heh.
Unfortunately the hole in my overalls allowed some paint to get through to my trousers, which are now in the wash. I hope it doesn't stain >.>
Dad was due to drive us back, which is never a prospect I look forward to, really. I could see him lurking about through the trees that divided the 'comand centre' to the road that led to it, trying to see us. So I tore Venetia away from her conversation and we left.
I can't be bothered to go inot why I dislike Dad's driving, but the jist of it is that it makes me feel unsafe. He's the kind of driver who, when I drive, I try and avoid like the plague.
So I got back, changed my trousers, showed off my bruises (which weren't as impressive as one which someone got from a point-blank paintball. Nasty, that was) and sat here, where I am now typing this. Biggie ^_^
I've had an idea for another Reanimatrix short, which I should be able to write after eating dinner. It's not much, but I like the idea ^_^
Erm... I feel like there's something else I should say but I can't think what it couldbe. If I remember I'll post it in later. |

Beyond the Sea...
Somewhere beyond the sea
Somewhere waiting for me
My lover stands on golden sands
And watches the ships that go sailing
Somewhere beyond the sea
She's there watching for me
If I could fly like birds on high
Then straight to her arms I'd go sailing
It's far beyond the stars, it's near beyond the moon
I know beyond a doubt
My heart will lead me there soon
We'll meet beyond the shore
We'll kiss just like before
Happy we'll be beyond the sea
And never again I'll go sailing
I know beyond a doubt
My heart will lead me there soon
We'll meet, I know we'll meet beyond the shore
We'll kiss just as before
Happy we'll be beyond the sea
And never again I'll go sailing
* * *
My singing (I was just about to type 'sailing', heh ^_^;) lesson diddo as well as the usual ones, in places. I put that down to not having enough time to warm up before I left. Well, I did have time, technically, I just didn't use it >.>
Still, I need to try and get hold of some more music that I can progress with. I'm thinking of getting the music to Robbie Williams' Swing When You're Winning album- I like that, and a lot of the songs there are well within my range, but could push it to a better pitch.
Anyway, after singing I went into Portsmouth to look for five things:
-A Spawn Manga Robots deluxe boxed set (of which there was none, despite the fact that the guy in EC Toys a few weeks ago told me that they should have them in soon. Maybe they sold them or something, but the guy I talked to todan't know much at all >.>)
-Soul of the Duelist boosters, of which I got 24 ^_^ My first ever booster box, heh. And I got two (albeit rather boring) Ultimate Rares- Charcoal Inipachi and Null and Void. My sister got a plethora of cards she wanted, which was good ^_^.
-The Wind in the Willows, by Kenneth Graham. Got it, read abof it. It's quite good, actually.
-Lunch. Got it, ate it, wasn't very impressed with it.
-Anything else of interest.
I actually forgot to look for anything else of interest for myself, but I did quickly browse a clothes shop for a bit. I liked a jumper that they had but didn't have enough money (read: couldn't be bothered to walk to cashpoint).
So Ight the train home and continued to do very little for the rest of the day, heh. Age of Empires 2 covered most of the evening; I guess I'm feeling lack of motivation because of this problem that's hanging over the family. It's not... well, I don't think it's big, but it's not very comforting to have to sit through and watch bubble over anyway. I just can't understand why something so reasonable just isn't taken in *sighs*. People can be really stupid.
Sorry sah, I kind of wanted to put something a little more optimistic here, heh. Not that it's laden with doom or anything like that, but... yeah. I'm glad you enjoyed my last few posts, though ^_^
Ah, I can't stop listening to 'Shout It Out' from King of Bandits: Jing! *hugs Kei squishily* It's a very cool song, hehe. As is 'Overload' from Yu-Gi-Oh, which is another that's alternating on a new range of favourite songs, heh. I go through them on rotation ^_^;
Take care everyone, and don't forget to visit Ben if you haven't already. Seriously, smiteage will occur if visits do not, heh.

Sleep...
I'm not actually sleepy at all, but I did sleep in for a very long time this morning (and oh, I've just realised that I need to find some lyrics for tomorrow's singing lesson ^_^;)
*gets them*
I've started learning a new song in my singing lessons now- On The Street Where You Live, from My fair Lady. It's a really nice song, and I'm glad to be moving onto something new that'll have me improving my range.
I'm improving very well, aparrently. There's still a fairly long way to go before I get really good, but I'm pleased. The main thing is to smile and beconfident with your voice- doing both those things increases the tone of the voice so well it's almost as if you've just skipped a couple of weeks' training, heh. It's easier with a song that's meant to be sung loudly and boldly, and unfortunately my singing teacher has a habit of doing the practice songs in a rather staccato way, so it can be quite hard to get a feel for the entire song. But it's all good, heh ^_^
Wow, I deviated a lot from what I originally meant to start on.
I talked to Aleia (fantastic name, heh ^__^) yesterday evening and we came onto the subject of time and staying up late.
Some time just after I first got AIM, I wanted to try and pull an all-nighter on AIM to see what it would be like. Unfortunately it got to 1am and I simply couldn't last any longer, heh. I needed my sleep ^_^; I'm still tempted to try it one day when I don't have to do anything much.
The thing I don't like about staying up all night is having to get to sleep again the next night, as opposed to just collapsing in bed at any old time and falling asleep. It disrupts my flow so much that I get confused with which day it is and I just feel sluggish for ages. It's not a feeling I particularly enjoy.
The time I did stay up all night was a couple of years ago at Dan's house, where we had a tent party outside. It was... interesting, but because of the internal politics of the group it was rather frustrating, too. And of course, we were silly Year 11s.
We didn't actually do anything, though. Just sat around, talked, had a few jokes and then failed to get to sleep, talked more and suddenly the sun was up.
When I got home I fell asleep at about 10am, waking up at four. I had no idea what the day was, so I had to sit in the garden (thankfully it was really sunny that day) with a drink until I felt all right again, heh.
It's odd to think that we can spend over a third of our lives doing absolutely nothing but recharging our atteries. You could do a lot in the time you sleep. But really, I'm not sure it's wasted. I enjoy sleeping, but so long as I get done everything else I intend to do then I don't see it as any kind if hinderance. If anything, lack of sleep makes me get less done.
Ah, I'm rambling. Probably because I'm meant to be in bed >.>;
I'm going in to Portsmouth tomorrow morning, which should hopefully give me something more interesting to update about.
Take care, everyone ^_^ |

Battle of the Spark!
Ah, in lieu of not having very much else to do, I shall write today's post about two things:
One, this survey thingy (taken from Hevn, but seen at Juu's siteh).
You have to type your name with various bits of your body, in case you hadn't guessed.
* * *
Fingers: Solo
Well, that was easy enough.
Chin: xszolklokol
Heh, like some kind of random 'lol' variation, that ^_^;
One finger with eyes closed: solo
I PWNZZZ00RRD JOOOO!!!
Cheek: assiuloik
Hah, looks like 'Ass-u-Like' ^_^;
Elbow: sazwpol;lkpopoilk0
Mmm, Aztec Solo.
Lips: sollol
Not too bad. I guess my lips need a bit more training, hehe ^_~
Palm: sop0lol0
That's what I look like when I get run over.
Back of hand: zzzzzllllllll,,,,lkkkkkkkk
Bzzt, critical error...
Nose: solko
Russian Solo ^_~
Tongue: solo
MY T0n9u3 p0WNZ00rrz j0000!
As you can see I am good with my tongue and fingers, even with my eyes closed ^_~
And Second...
The roots of my obsession.
Way back in 2001 I found a website that fulfilled some of my greatest desires... They shipped Beast Wars figures to the UK! I was so pleased, hehe. And you could pre-order them, too ^_^
That I did with many things, as the Beast Machines line was reaching some of the more advanced toys of its release, which I was very interested in.
This one in particular
I couldn't believe it when I saw it. I'd always liked foxes and things from Disney's Robin Hood, but to actually see a figure like this...
A bipedal wolf, blue and red, with wings...
He's remained a firm favourite of mine ever since. I named mine Noble, after the character in the series. After finally being able to see the series in RealPlayer format (We got Sky a bit too late, unfortunately) I was even more pleased to see that the character I'd built Noble up to be was fully justified in the series (even though some rather dramatic things happen in his rather short stay).
I was so taken with him that I decided that my long-imagined Digimon story should star someone like him. Not exactly him, but someone incredibly similar. And I have to scan in the improved drawing of Aidan my sister did so I can show you the progression he's made.
Anyway, ever since then, wolves have been a big part of characters I create. Or things with wings. Any combination of the two is even better, heh. Although ironically my favourite Digimon is Flamedramon rather than MagnaGarurumon.
MagnaGarurumon still rocks, though ^_^
This guy was part of the inspiration behind MetalArmadillomon, I guess. That, and I wanted my favourite partnet Digimon to actually get some decent screentime one way or another, so I figured a better reincarnation of him would do justice, hee ^_^
I have many many more toys I can talk about- I think all of them have extensive pictures of them on the site. Which is nice ^_^
Agh, I need sleep. I like AIM ^_^ |

Shout-Outs
Mimmi: I didn't understand the 'selling yourself' reference until just now, heh ^_^;
Heaven's Cloud: I completely agree. Actually, upon taking in my Personal Statement today they told me I didn't need to change anything save removing the course name from the first two lines and adding more about the other activities I do, heh. Nicey nice ^_^
Arcadia: Arcadia, wrong? Never! ^_~
Karmi: Heh, sounds like you'll have competition ^_^;
DDG: The mystery thickens... chocolate, eh?
Lady KeiKei: Ah, I know them ^_^ They're called something completely different here, is why. Can't remember what, though >.>
lea2385: Saves you a job, heh ^_~
Sara: I don't think I'd have enough space for that, heh ^_^;
Panda: *hugs back* You take care, okay? And thank you too, heh ^_^
*winces at fire alarms that have suddenly sounded*
Ah, they've gone ^_^;
Well, the auditions were great fun.
We've been divided into three groups, aptly named A, B and C. These correspond to the directors- the directors in group A can only choose people to act in their pieces who are in Groups B and C and so-on. At least, that was part of the initial set-up. Another part of the initial set-up was that people would choose scenes with only 2 characters, but that didn't work out >.> I was good! I did that, but others just didn't seem to understand... Anyway...
NOTE: Beware of brackets/parentheses
As mostly occurs, A went first. They set themselves up around the room with their scripts and plucked however many they needed of the rest of us to read through their pieces and audition. I did a Blood Brothers scene first, then moved onto do something that someone else had written specially (although was getting people to audition by reading Romeo and Juliet), before moving on again to do an incredibly short piece of dialogue directed by Lianne (the actual piece is longer, as I gather ^_^;), some weird comedy called The Dead Monkey (featuring, surprisingly enough, a dead monkey), a bit of The Diary of Anne Frank, finally finishing with something by Larry Kramer to do with AIDS.
That was the end of that, then ^_^; I didn't know who I was going to be allocated to, but I had to prepare for holding my own auditions in about half an hour's time. I ran to photocopy the relevant section of the script (which cost me 60p).
I sat down in my rather uncomfortable plastic chair with a packet of crisps I bought specially for my auditionees to snack on if they wanted to, and highlighted the parts in each piece. There are only two, so it didn't take long.
First I auditioned a great guy called Josh, who ironically enough shares many of the same characteristics as our own Josh (i.e. six foot three, thin, attractive, drives a car, as well as various other things). He read very very well- I were muchly impressed, hehe ^_^ The other guy, reading in for Oscar, was also impressive, and I think I'd found my two first choices right off the bat.
Unfortunately, this particular group of directors had major problems, in that there was a teriffic shortage of male actors. I'd already agreed to act in scenes being directed by two of the directors in B-Group even though I wasn't technically supposed to, so we had big big problems... I still got Josh to play my Felix, though ^_^ And, even better, I ended up with Jex playing Oscar. I would have chosen him right away if he hadn't been allocated to the same group as me, but since things were switched around I got him anyway, hee.
Although I was happy with my cast, I was not happy with how the rehearsals were looking. Not only have we been given another lesson on Friday mornings right where the only free spots for my driving lessons was (a big big kick up the arse for me), but it looked like I was going to have to rehearse my entire thing out of lessons including all the extra out of lesson time I'd need for every other piece. Not. Very. Happy.
Still, lunch came and went (and I went and got a very bad sandwich that I only ate half of because it was rancidly fatty- everyone always buys up the decent bagguettes on tuesdays, the bastards) and we started discussing cast rearrangements further while the Group C auditions were going on.
I auditioned for all but one, which only needed female cast members.
And I hadn't realised I was so popular a choice, heh ^_^; I guess since I start off fairly neutral I can bend my personality in many different ways to adapt for different characters, so people were annoyed when I had to be shuffled to Directing Group C to give poor Jez a chance to actually work on his scenes (he was in about six, two of which were very big).
In the end, I'm in four scenes, which looks at the moment to be more than anyone else:
Christie In Love- I'm playing one half of Christie- his physical representation, as others see him.
The Diary of Anne Frank- playing Peter.
A Child Called 'IT'- I'm sure some of you must have heard of this- a friend of mine's sdapting a few scenes for the stage, and I'm playing the Narrator (David as a grown up) and the Policeman.
Waiting for Godot- playing Lucky, who has one line in the entire scene. The line, however, is two pages long and runs on in a huge continuous sentence. It will be cut though, thankfully ^_^;
And on top of that I have my Odd Couple. I'm actually quite glad I don't have a job now, heh ^_^;
I don't know when this is being performed, though. I hope and pray it's before July. If it's after before June 30th or after July 6th I can do it, but anything inbetween will leave me seriously screwed one way or another. I really need to talk to Lorraine about it, heh, because it's really worrying me.
Oh, and this is all inbetween Wind in the Willows and Gilgamesh rehearsals, by the way... *nervous smile* |

Comforting Fire
Go and see Panda. She needs your support.
I've been trying to write my CV all day- well... I've been procrastinating all day and have only now just got round to doing anything. But it's not finished, so I'll take it in for my tutors to read and review, and basically give the excuse that 'I didn't know what else I should put down'. Which isn't false, exactly- I just forgot how to do it ^_^;
It's odd trying to write something that essentially has to advertise yourself; a lot of the things I need to say I almost take for granted anyway. But a fair amount of the time it's the subtle things that get you noticed. How many people must write down on job applications that they're hard-working, dedicated and efficient? If you write down something a little more unusual, you stand a better chance of being remembered.
Bleh, auditions tomorrow and I still don't know how to run them. I guess I'll just photocopy the script, write a blurb and get them to read it. It's not exactly complicated, but the script needs a little re-working in order to make it fit properly. I haven't the faintest idea what mallowmars are, for a start o_o;
And there we go. Aside from that I've been playing Worms: Armageddon and trying to think of ways to get myself inspired to write again. It comes and goes so quickly now. I thinkthe computer games probably have something to do with it, heh. I think I'll leave them alone for the time being.
Take care. |
