No Pain... no pain o_o;

Well, I've walked away from the latest re-enactment event with slightly more injuries than usual, but at least I did actually walk away ^_^;

Derren got me right on my right elbow, which still hurts whenever I move my arm, and I also took a strong blow in the ribs and lower abdomen (which was a little too low for my liking >.>). I also got my fingers hit a few times, but thanks to my Super Poncy Gloves they didn't leave any marks.

The musketry and cannon drills were slightly more interesting than they had been in the past- we had a whole other 'living history' (i.e. people who dress up to be accurate and talk/demonstrate rather than to fight, necessarily) group who had about seven muskets between them and two huge cannons which they delighted in loading up with up ot three charges of gunpowder for a really big bang.

I was given a go at firing a musket, and when I did I swear reality collapsed in on itself for a moment- everything seemed to happen at once: a huge noise, a big flash of smoke and something incredibly hot landed on my wrist- the next thing I know the gun's at my feet and the scouring stick's about to fall down the hillside. Hot bits of... something from the match flew through the air and landed on my flesh, which immediately started sizzling. It hurts, but it's really only a very tiny mark.

Samurai X has some amazing music on it ^_^ I loves it, because it gives me many ideas for Nazreal and things. Some of the pieces are really scary, actually. I was listening to one first thing this morning, in the light of my bedroom, and it still made me want to check behind me in case something large and nasty was standing there. There was nothing there, luckily for me.

Still, it's good stuff. Puts me in mind for the Dark Stalker story ^_^

Hmm, need food now. Me find. Oodles.

EDIT: I edited the bit that hEvN quoted, because unintentional non-dramatic repetition in such close quarters annoys me.

And things are not well in the Solo household. Great. Maybe if I lie down and listen to music by the time I come out everything will be alright again >.>

*bloated*

Weurgh, eating out twice in one week is incredibly unusual forme. It's definately something I don't want to make a habit of. Not only is it expensive but I worry I'll eat too much. Still, I can exercise. I used my electric thingies on my arms today, although the affect they had was much more violent than when I used it previously o_o; I actually lost complete control of my arms for the duration of the exercise. But they're alright now, I think.

Anyway, in lieu of Lawrence's 20th birthday we went to a place called Frankie and Benny's- a pseudo American-Italian restaurant specialising in pizzas and pastas. We were very lucky to get a table- last minute booking on a Saturday evening is always a gamble. But we got one nonetheless ^_^

When you get inside you're greeted by the kind of place you could shoot a scene of a sitcom in. It's not cheap or particularly hilarious; it's just... that kind of style, you know? Anyway, we were brought to our table where we sat and looked at the menus for a bit. Near to us there was some kid randomly shouting 'Bogies!' at the top of his voice, but despite our best efforts we couldn't find them on the menu anywhere.

Bogies aside, Lawrence ordered a Four Seasons pizza and I ordered a Calzone Sicilian. It was gorgeous- a folded pizza with mushrooms, ham, cheee, red onions, pepperoni and bolognese sauce inside it, with napolitana poured over the top ^______^ But the nice thing about it was that even though it was fairly large, it wasn't heavy- I didn't come away thinking that I shouldn't have eaten it (although I probably shouldn't anyway ^_^;).

I'll try and go as easy as possible on my stomach over the next few days; I expect I'll be eating out again at least once next week ^_~

Meanwhile, in Kentucky...
Sonic the Hedgehog: Long Lost... [M-VSL] is fantastic ^_^. I can't remember when I last had so much fun writing an RPG, heh. I'd highly recommend people to read it. And Anime Stereotype High School.

Before I go, I'd like to thank Clair_Chanteur for her lovely Guestbook entry ^_^. Visit her site and give her hugs, heh. She sings, too (and probably a damn sight better than me) ^_~

*makes gutteral noises*

It felt good to be doing voice classes again. I'm not narcissistic, but it's nice hearing when your voice is developing into something more rich-sounding, and I could feel the difference today. The first voice class I'd had since... probably around April, and just doing those warm-up exercises really made a difference. I might start doing things like that more regularly if it'll improve my tone.

Lawrence has a really good voice, though. He's going to go really far, I can feel it. But I don't want to get left behind. Or forgotten (I feel a Lilo and Stitch syndrome here...).

Still, even though friends are further away, they still remain in contact. I got another text from Jaremy and it sounds really promising ^_^. I hope he's doing well. I miss him.

But... one of my really great friends who I was expecting to be here for another year told me today that he's leaving for Derby University in three weeks. Three weeks? There was so much stuff I wanted to do before he left... but I guess it's ow it goes. He's not too happy that he has to go so far away so soon, but at least it'll be getting him closer to the career he wants.

All of a sudden I feel rather isolated. I still don't know what I want to do next year and everyone else is making plans and getting on with their lives like they should be. I don't want to stay stuck in the same place forever, although right now I don't know of anywhere better to be.

Bleh.

Progress?
Have written nothing more on Nazreal/Enter the Net, but we unlocked all of the secret characters and levels on Digimon Rumble Arena 2 >.> Just need to find the other modes, now...

Since I've a free day tomorrow, I think I'll go and listen to music and see if I can gain some more inspiration for various things.

Ta.

Hmm...

I could do with putting something entertaining in here but I can't actually think of anything decent ^_^;

I keep missing OtakuSennen and Ben's posts. If it's not blue, I don't instinctively see it straightaway. But I do read them, guys >.>

My boots arrived ^__________^ They look incredibly cool, and when I wear them I stand at 5'10" instead of 5'8" ^_^;. More height equals... more height. Um... yes. But I love them still, even though going up and down stairs in them is rather treacherous and running in them isn't too good an idea. And driving in them is completely out of the question ^_^;. I want to have an excuse to wear them somewhere...

My hemlets are rusting >.> Bloody things can't take humidity very well, so I've moved them all into the spare bedroom. I'll need to polish them up tomorrow so they don't look as bad on Saturday where they'll be on display. I hoped my winged one will be okay. I likes it too much, but it's of a far better quality than the one I bought at Sabre Sales, which, looking at it now isn't straight or aligned properly anywhere. But it's accurate. More accurate for my period and country, anyway. I don't have a horse, nor am I a Polish Hussar. But I can dream.

OB Moments
This was part of a chat I had ages and ages ago but saved to look over when I needed a laugh, heh. Here's a bit of it. The culprits are: Myself, Shin, Lady Katana, AJeh, Kenji, Karmi, maladjusted and OtakuSennen.

Shinmaru007: The conversation is now Nintendo related!
Shinmaru007: :-)
Lady Liger: I liked Koopa Troopa.
maladjusted161: Ah...I always died when I jumped.
Karmi55: XD
Afnanno: lol
OtakuSennen: o.o But jumping is vital
Solo Tremaine: That must be frustrating, lol
Lady Liger: Right.
maladjusted161: Yeah, I know.
maladjusted161: ..
Afnanno: I disliked the jumping ones where the whole level was jumping
MADcrusher 010: Ah
maladjusted161: *sniffles*
Lady Liger: Those fireball plants sucked.
MADcrusher 010: done my good deed for the week
MADcrusher 010: ^-^
Afnanno: ..like those bird ones on SMB3
Lady Liger: Oo;
maladjusted161: I always remember dying when Mario went up against this THING that shot eggs at you.
Lady Liger: Eh?
Lady Liger: Birdo!
maladjusted161: ..
maladjusted161: er..
Karmi55: The late and great.
Lady Liger: I miss her.
Karmi55: I enjoy killing Birdo on SSBM.
Karmi55: =D
Afnanno: I remember that
Lady Liger: She's Yoshi's partner in MK:DD, right?
Solo Tremaine: No!
Solo Tremaine: I like Birdo on MK:DD
Lady Liger: Oo;
Solo Tremaine: I wasn't saying No to you, kei ^_^;
Shinmaru007: lol
Lady Liger: I see....
OtakuSennen: Yoshi and Birdo are long-lost cousins seperated by several million years of evolution and cross-breeding.
Lady Liger: I liked stealing her bow.
maladjusted161: O_o
OtakuSennen: But which came first, the Birdo or the Yoshi?
Afnanno: we need Nintendo PS2 games -_-
maladjusted161: XP
Solo Tremaine: Birdo
Lady Liger: Birdo, or course.
Shinmaru007: Incest in Nintendo games? o_O
Lady Liger: Oo;
maladjusted161: yay!
Shinmaru007: Wha?
Karmi55: But Yoshi's cooler.
Karmi55: ...
Lady Liger: Aye.
Karmi55: That's scary.
maladjusted161: ..
Solo Tremaine: They make a cute couple, I think
Lady Liger: True.
maladjusted161: O_o
OtakuSennen: But birdo's got it going on. ~.^
Shinmaru007: lol
Karmi55: Images I didn't need.
Lady Liger: Pink and green go nicely together. Think of the eggs.
maladjusted161: Everyone here is so obviously mistaking Mario and Luigi as the best Nintendo couple.
Afnanno: clashy eggs
maladjusted161: humph.
Afnanno: they'd hurt the screen
Lady Liger: Oo;
Lady Liger: Yeah, right.
OtakuSennen: o.O Shounen-ai incest....
OtakuSennen: In a video game!
maladjusted161: :P
Karmi55: Peach and Plum.
Lady Liger: Link and Sheik.
maladjusted161: *sits in corner playing with Kaworu plushie*
OtakuSennen: Zelda and Sheik
OtakuSennen: =p
Karmi55: Damn.
maladjusted161: ah..
maladjusted161: Xx
Afnanno: what's shounen-ai?
Shinmaru007: Samus and Ridley?
Shinmaru007: o_____o
Lady Liger: Boy love.
Karmi55: O_o"
Afnanno: oh yeah
OtakuSennen: Bowser and toad!
Shinmaru007: XD
Lady Liger: OO;
Karmi55: Oh jebus,,,,
Afnanno: I forget the random chatroom knowledge sometimes ^__^''
Lady Liger: He'd crush him.
maladjusted161: ^_^
maladjusted161: O_O
Karmi55: That required the use of commas instead of dots.
Karmi55: It was just so very wrong.
Karmi55: * dies *
Lady Liger: Man.
Shinmaru007: Lady Liger: He'd crush him. I choked because of that, Kei :-)
maladjusted161: *buries Karmi*
Shinmaru007: You made me laugh too much :-(
Karmi55: * arises as a ghost *
Lady Liger: Sorry. ^^;
Shinmaru007: *tries to regain breath*
Shinmaru007: That was funny, though. Hehe.
Shinmaru007: *images of Bowser crushing Toad* o_o
Karmi55: Shin you're sick.
Lady Liger: He never had a chance...
Shinmaru007: Thank you, Karma.
Shinmaru007: I try my best.
Shinmaru007: :-)
Karmi55: You're welcome.
OtakuSennen: Megaman and that dog.
Afnanno: ..
Lady Liger: OO;
maladjusted161: ..
Karmi55: ...
Afnanno: Treble
Lady Liger: Injustice!!!
OtakuSennen: ...
Karmi55: GROTTY
Lady Liger: *kills Sennen*
Karmi55: * tackles Sen *
maladjusted161: *is reminded of Azazel's avatar*
OtakuSennen: Augh, team effort
Afnanno: grotty is a confusing word
Lady Liger: lol
Afnanno: >.>
OtakuSennen: :-) I got tackled.
Karmi55: Grotty is the best word.
Solo Tremaine: Bleh, we missed Marth and Roy
Lady Liger: And killed.
Karmi55: * tapes sen's mouth shut *
Afnanno: Semji likes Treble
maladjusted161: no.
Afnanno: I think
Shinmaru007: maladjusted161: *is reminded of Azazel's avatar* XD
maladjusted161: they really would look nice together.
maladjusted161: ^_~
Lady Liger: I thought the same thing.
Shinmaru007: :-P
Solo Tremaine: Hehe
maladjusted161: ^_^
Lady Liger: Here's a wild thought: Pikachu and Kirby.
Karmi55: Pikachu and Ash.
Karmi55: Damn.
maladjusted161: ..
Solo Tremaine: o_o;
Lady Liger: :p
Karmi55: Three way.
Afnanno: we've lost it
Afnanno: all of us
OtakuSennen: Jigglypuff and Kirby
maladjusted161: Charmander and Misty.
Solo Tremaine: Fox and Falco 4ever!
Lady Liger: Oo;
Solo Tremaine: lol
Karmi55: Okay
Afnanno: Charmander and Squirtle
Karmi55: This needs to stop.
Shinmaru007: hahahaha
maladjusted161: new topic?
Karmi55: Now.

Another Goodbye?

David and Kim are going off to Aberystwyth together tomorrow, and in about two hours I'll be at their special farewell dinner thing. We won't be seeing each other until Christmas, which I suppose in reality won't make a huge amount of difference to the relationship I've had with him for the last few months or so, but even then he's always been pretty close if ever I've needed him.

The dinner's supposed to be between four/five of us, except...

Dan isn't going to be there. He's doing stuff for Dr. Faustus at the Festival Theatre, and I was told that David was heartbroken when he couldn't come. I really hope it'll go alright, and if I get back early enough tonight I'll edit this post to tell everyone how it went. Otherwise it'll be tomorrow.

EDIT:

Well, I figured I'd best have a shower before I left. That went alright, until a particularly nasty eventleft me half-blind for about ten minutes. head and Shoulders 2-in-1 Citrus Fresh shampoo isn't one you want getting in your eyes even in the smallest concentration. It bloody hurts.

That aside, I rushed out thinking I'd be late and eventually ended up getting there before everyone else. I was glad it wasn't just me, David and Kim- David's cousins were there too. And that made things much brighter, heh.

So, I ate too much... again. I feel pretty ill, although that's probably dehydration talking more than anything else. Since I have a day off tomorrowI'm going to work out as much as I can to get myself feeling good again.

Of course, internal family politics and friends' feuds don't exactly help matters. Hell, why can't things just be simpler? Or why can't people at least accept that some things are unavoidable?

I want to go to bed, but I need a drink first. I'm starting to dislike chocolate considerably >.>

Tired...

Too tired even to think of something decent to put up here, but I'll do my best.

I've been researching things that I should have been researching last week, and I've not actually finished it yet. I won't be able to now, because 21st Century playwrights don't yet exist. And frankly, i can't be bothered any more. It's only an exercise to show how much we can actually do: it's not assessed. Me being Teh Lazy when it comes to academics (except English grammar), I'll simply write down in our progress logs that I couldn't find enough information about it. We were supposed to use libraries, but meh. The Internet's much much easier.

Unlocked some new characters in Digimon Rumble Arena 2. That was pretty cool. Duskmon's an absolute bastard to beat, though. A bastard, I tell you!

Ah, I need sleep. Lots of things going on, lots of things to try and think about, get done... too tired to do anything right now, heh.

Oh, before I forget:- I'm very pleased with the recent stuff in ASHS ^___^ Thanks guys!

See you tomorrow, after a half-decent night's sleep...

Digimon, Digital Monsters...

Digimon are the Champions!

That, they are ^_^. At least, the ones who beat up all of the other ones are.

Digimon Rumble Arena 2 arrived today, and I was muchly pleased to see it. I had to wait for my sister to get home before being able to play it, though, so I was pacing up and down the entire house for a good half an hour or so ^_^;

The premise is simple- much like SSB:M, smash seven bells out of your opponent before they get the chance to do the same to you. The game itself doesn't hold any pretentions of trying to be anything more than a beat-em-up with a twist which encorporates itself quite nicely into the gameplay- digivolution.

Part way through a battle, if your blue power meter has completely filled up through collecting enough digi-ball things, you can digivolve to another form. Yes, they use the show evolutions lines. And what's nice is that most of the show voices are actually there in the game ^___^. Gatomon, Palmon and Patamon don't, though, and they sound rather... odd.

Once you digivolve you have a better chance of smacking your opponent into the edge of the screen to score a KO or depleting their HP enough to smack them into oblivion. The stuff of fun.

The single-player and multiplayer are almost identical, except single-player is progressive, multiplayer isn't. And you get to choose your opponents. But there's quite a diverse variety of game types: King of the Hill, Keep Away, Crazy Chase, and your old-fashioned 'Smack-em-about-till-they-break-down-and-cry' mode.

Everyhing's drawn rather nicely. The levels are almost completely interactive and the characters move, speak, shout and groan when hit or are hitting. So it should keep you entertained enough for you to get your money's worth, at least.

But...
Although the game advertises there being over 40 different characters, this includes all of the evolutions of the characters that you already have. You start with 11, each of which have 3 evolution forms. That's 33 already. A selection of unlockable boss characters take it to about 40, and there are three evolving monsters. So base forms to play with: you have about 21. No Renamon, Strabimon, Impmon, Armadillomon, Hawkmon, Wormmon, Leomon, Ogremon or anything like that. And no two people can be the same character- there aren't even skin changes available; and hence, no team games. This was something I was pretty disappointed with, as one of my favourite elements of games like this is being able to play co-operatively with my sister.

In terms of its structure it's definitely a no frills kind of game- there isn't even a Story behind the single player- you just beat up progressively stronger teams of monsters until you get to the end. And it's easy to get through in pretty much the same way Double Dash was.

That's not to say it's a bad game- if you're a Digimon fan it's pretty much essential and good fun. But otherwise Smash Bros Melee gives you just that little bit more depth.

Happy Birthday Kei! ^______________^
Many Happy Returns, hehe.

Thought for Food...

I'm not ill any more, heh. I'm quite glad that I'm not. Every... month or so there's a brief period where my body seems to shut down and things don't work in the way they should. I always worry that it might be the tip of the iceberg leading to something worse, but it never is.

Cooking Time!
I rarely ever cook, and I guess tonight was evidence enough as to why.

I'm staying the night at Lawrence's, and he was originally going to defrost a chicken overnight for us to cook, but since we're shorter on people than we expected, he didn't, and pretty much everything he had was recommended to be defrosted overnight. Hmm...

I strongly recommend that nobody try any of the following. Not only is it potentially very dangerous, but it doesn't taste that good either.

We shoved the frozen raw turkey breasts in the microwave for about ten minutes and prepared a frying pan- everything else was being used to cook other things. While this was done, I looked around the kitchen for stuff to season it with.

When finished, the still-half-frozen breatss were shoved into two separate pans with some olive oil and fried along with curry powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper and lemon. Sounds nice, eh?

It probably would have been alright, were the meat not incredibly thin. It ended up more like bacon than anything else, although very heavily flavoured bacon. I'm still dubious as to whether we should have eaten it or not...

That, followed by cheesecake doesn't make for the most appetizing meal about, especially as there's a shop just down the road >.>

Ah well. I guess you learn from experience. Of course, it'd be nicer not to make the mistake in the first place and know from the start, but if we did that we wouldn't develop and grow.

I just hope the right bits of me are still working properly tomorrow o_o;

Oh...

I've just discovered that I'm rather ill. I don't know why I'm ill, but I hate it.

Today wasn't too bad until about twenty minute ago- although getting up early this morning was a bit of a pain. I had a nice time doing the re-enactment stuff. Although the arena we had today was pretty tiny, some of the fights were quite nicely done. Derren and Paul seem pleased at my swordfighting technique- apparently it's improving, but I still feel it's rather crap when I'm in full plate arms. Still, I guess that's what practice is for.

I still got hit in the face, though. I didn't actually see what with, but it made my nose bleed a little. Only a very little, though. I did take care.

Lawrence has finally seen me fight now. I was annoyed that he saw one of my much less impressive boughts- I was so exhausted I could hardly move, much less defend myself. I'm much better when I haven't got any armour on, although I'm far more vulnerable to attacks.

And... I met my old fencing instructor, Nick Jaeger ^____^ It was great to see him again. It makes me miss the fencing club, and I feel guilty that I haven't come back to visit yet. I said I would, but it's been so long...

I need to sit somewhere quiet. I would play Daikatana, but it's full of ridicuous bugs and faults that make it unplayable for anything longer than half an hour. And I don't think hours at the computer would be good for me at this point in time anyway. Although it is next door to the toilet...

See you guys later, heh.
