Surprise! *groans*
I suppose that's a general loose theme for this week, heh.
Last Saturday we planned a surprise birthday party for Dan, but it went rather less fluidly than we'd expected.
The day began alright- I had reenactment training in the morning. Since it was my first try at wearing all of my plate armour in combat I was very knackered and very sweaty by the time I'd finished. My left arm still hurts a little from carrying all that weight.
After having had a shower and changing my clothes, i went back into town to meet up with Dan, who was helping run the big parade to kick-start the Chichester Festivities season.
After a while of people making excuses to go home and get themselves ready, we walked round town for a bit and then eventually I had to go home myself to eat and wrap his presents (Obviously, to eat and wrap his presents as separate activities- it would be rather awkward otherwise). I got him a Rough Guide to Lord of the Rings and a Super Poseable Gollum figure, heh.
I was told to arrive at his house at 7- he and his girlfriend were due to arrive at 8, which gave us plenty of time to set up decorations and things. This was, of course, on the assumption that Dan's parents (already in on the surprise) would be in to let us into the house.
They were not.
We sat outside for about half an hour, and once everyone had arrived we phoned Ami to tell her about the problem and decided we'd hide in the vegetable patch until they arrived. We would then launch our attack of surprises.
8:00 came and went, so, instead of putting up the decorations and being already inside waiting inside to surprise him, we ran in after him, gave him the surprise then and there and then put up the decorations ^_^;
It was unorthadox, but worked well. He had no idea it was coming, hehe.
What came later was at least as exciting.
The Formidable Four
Ami had wanted to go over to the main house (Dan has two, sort of) to get a drink. A few minutes later she came back, looking very worried.
"There's someone inside the house!"
None of the lights were on in the main house and the front door was wide open. Dan's parents' cars hadn't returned...
We all made our way over to the house to investigate. Thankfully, there were lots of men to help out (although one refused to move) ^_^; The girls stood by the door.
Dan grabbed an umbrella from the rack by the door and held it out in front of him menacingly while we checked upstairs. Another guy grabbed a hollow aluminium pole (anyone with any knowledge of metals would know how ineffective that would be as a hitting stick), and room by room we made sure everything was clear.
Then came the garage. The door through the kitchen was open, as was the one leading into the back garden. Was this where the intruder had come from?
The light zipped on, and the remaining two of us grabbed some more weapons. Adrian pulled a shovel from the wall with a dramatic 'schwing!' noise, and I went for a humble tennis racket, as it was all I could grab quickly and quietly.
So, the four of us, armed with umbrella, shovel, aluminium tube and tennis racket, crept into the garden.
At the end, near the verandah-like structure, a light was on.
"Hello?" Dan called loudly.
"Hello?" A deep male voice called back.
"Hello?!" Dan replied.
Dan's parents had gone for a walk. That explained why the cars hadn't come back. In fact, they never actually left the driveway.
Why they didn't put the lights back on when they returned to the house is anyone's guess, but maybe they wanted to head straight for the garden *shrugs* We all laughed about it when we got back to the other house. I'd have been scared out of my wits if I'd seen a shadow moving in the doorway of a dark house and no way of telling who it was, so we didn't blame Ami. At least, I didn't.
Oh! What A Lovely *thwack*
And this Thursday we had a surprise OWALW rehearsal. Oh. Joy.
On the way out, we heard rumblings of thunder in the distance and the fresh smell of impending rain on the way. We had to wait for Jez to prepare his cigarette before we could leave, though, and were subsequently caught in the torrential downpour that followed -_- I'd forgotten to take some papers of mine out of the top of my bag, and they are still drying.
Driving Lessen
I'm sure my driving improves in some way with every lesson I have, but whenever I go out with my instructor I come out feeling it's really nothing further than when I just was o_o; But I think he's almost finished introducing me to new things, then I can build my confidence up with them and improve. Either way, today's lesson was rather scary. I hate huge crossroads with traffic lights...
I've been writing more about Nazreal recently, specifically the Kyru/Aeryn story arc. I'm trying to figure out the best way for Kyru to have been cursed without making him too strong a character. And I still need to figure out the rest of the characters'/story stuff. But I've had an urge to get details down recently. It's just a shame I've not got the skills to properly draw/create them individually on paper yet >_<; Ah well. With time, I endeavor to try, heh.
One Last Thing...
Since I (and everyone else) love Shinmaru, I'm going to steal his idea. Name a topic for me to discuss and I shall discuss it as best I'm able ^_^

Comfort Writing
Ah, I like writing MyOtaku posts. They're quite theraputic, heh.
Thanks everyone for the RPG feedback. Methinks I'll give the Trigun one a miss for now and start developing ideas for Nazreal and the Anime Stereotype High School. Zidargh, we must talk ^_^
I've got an interesting day ahead tomorrow. Mum wants to bid for something on eBay, but it ends at about 4 in the morning. But, she needs me to do it, so I'll be waking up at about half three to give her a hand ^_^; But I don't mind.
As for everything else... I was due to go to the gym today but Jeremy forgot he was due to take me. It's probably no bad thing, because my arms started hurting quite badly at about midday after the training session yesterday. It was the first time I'd worn all my plate armour, and it's very heavy stuff. I did some sit-ups instead, but stopped because I was hungry for soup.
Ate it, I did.
There really wasn't that much of a point to this, sorry ^_^; I'll try and post something more interesting next time, heh. |

RPGreatness!
Aside from the already lovely RPGs I'm in (which I'll be writing replies to tonight), I'm thinking of starting another. But the problem is I have loads of ideas and not enough direction as to which to choose and develop.
So, I am appealing* for your help ^_^
Basically, I'm going to type out my list of ideas, and (lovely people who visit and read my site) I would like you to say which you think is best. Mind you, some are about relatively obscure subjects, so I'm not expecting a huge turn-out. Just say which one you think sounds the most interesting.
Trigin: War of the Plants
Origin- The idea for this sprung from me watching the last episode of Trigun, where I began to wonder what the plants actually were, where they came from and how they'd managed to get to where they were. This is probably all explained in the Trigun Maximum manga series, but I haen't access to those. And I don't think they've all been translated into English yet >.>
Synopsis- in a technologically advanced world, a highly-evolved species of creatures exist. They are known as Plants. To the untrained eye, they look human. In reality, they are far from it. Each one is a living power generator, capable of emitting vast quantiies of energy in a very short period of time, making them perfect inhabitants for their technological world.
In their normal humanoid form they are able to live as any normal human might. But, since the planet is so dependent on technology, each plants must spend half of his/her life providing the planet with energy. Year-long shifts are taken in giant light-bulb-esque structures attached to gargantuan pyramids in the centre of cities.
This method was never questioned. The plants were too genial and logical a race to start deposing a perfect system.
A human, on the other hand...
A spacecraft carrying several human explorers crash-landed on the planet, killing most on board and also destroying a plant power generator. The plants, being such long-lived beings, had never had to deal with such a huge loss of life at one time before. And interaction with the humans would prove to be even deadlier.
The humans questioned the plants' whole structure of existance. Many believed it was against the right to live to spend your whole life trapped inside a bubble. "Free will should prevail," they argued. "It is the right of all sentient beings."
"But plants are not humans. We have no human rights."
Over time, some plants began questioning their logical existence, wanting to explore possibilities for their world other than merely giving energy to a world that only needed sustaining for the sake of sustaining. Others argued against this free-thinking, maintaining that without it, they would all die.
The arguments escalated, until one day when the biggest generator on the planet was decimated by a plant with a gun.
This is their story.
Thoughts- The story needs refining. It's not as crisp as it should be, and I know I can improve on it. I'm not sure how or what specifically to do, but given more thought I'm sure it'd be pretty good.
Nazreal: Legend of Devil Stalker
Origin- Nazreal is a series of my own creation. I was going to write an entire story about it, but ner actually got round to typing it up. It's still about, and something I still put a lot of thought into. This idea came t me when I was watching Kill Bill, although I'm not sure why. It's set before the original timeline of the Search for the Golden City (doomed *cries*) RPG.
For those that don't know, Nazreal uses Starfox-like characters; i.e. humanoid animals.
Synopsis- Years ago, a mage created battle armour with which he planned to vanquish his foes. It was a metal suit of black, crimson and deep purple. Magic spells had been cast into the armour itself- powers of flight, speed and strength.
But before the Mage had a chance to wear his armour into battle, he was brutally murdered by a gang of thieves. With his last breath, he trapped his own soul within the suit of armour. The murderers took the armour and gave it to their leader, who took it with pride.
As he put it on, a silence fell over the room. A deep voice echoed from the darkness, and the mage's soul took over the leader's body.
The next day, a horrible sight greeted the residents of the town where the gang was based. Their bodies had been torn apart and thrown over the buildings. In blood, written on the wall, was a stark warning:
"The Devil Stalker destroys all"
Years of terror followed. Everyone who came up against the Devil Stalker was killed. The Mage's spirit's lust for revenge was never sustained.
Until, in the city of Nazreal, a weapon was developed that could slice through the Devil Stalker's armour: The RuneBlade.
A younge warrior from Nazreal took the sword and lured the Devil Stalker into a trap. No-one knows what happened- all that was left was the blood-stained RuneBlade.
Years passed without any sign of the creature.
Now, once again, brutal murders have begun to occur...
Thoughts- Definitely one of my darker ideas. I like it, but there's still a little more story to explain. I didn't want to go too heavily into detail here; I didn't want to bore everyone, heh.
Starfox: Fall of Cerinia
Origin- Well, I've always been a Starfox fan and naturally after completing Starfox Adventured for the second time I began to wonder what Krystal's origins were, as well as the power behind her magic staff, which seemed to have the magical ability to open doors on a planet she'd never been to before o_o; I can fill in plot-holes with a little imagination, heh... I suppose it'd become very similar to Nazreal in a way, although almost the other way round. Not put much thought into this as yet. I was thinking of almost having two different RPGs rolled into one: two characters each for two different timelines in the RP. But I've not thought about it very much. I’ve had ideas for other SF RPGs, but this seems the most fruitful.
Anime Stereotype High School: Redux
Origin- Shy first created this RPG about a year or so ago, and in my mind it’s always been one of my favourites. Unfortunately, like Don’t Shoot the Goombas, it was done an extreme misjustice and died far sooner than it ought to. Well, it oughtn’t to have died at all, but meh. The idea’s simple, but greatness is wound within it.
As the name suggests, it’s a High School. For Stereotype Anime characters. Like, for example; ‘the badass’, ‘the reluctant hero’, ‘the giant rampaging robot with a mind of its own’.
Synopsis- Well, considering it’s a high school, there isn’t a goal much bigger than pass all your exams and/or get to the end of the year without fatally injuring someone though some complicated series of events and still having your social status in tact. So, I was thinking… finals/prom. But, there’d have to be a maniacal principal (last time played by Shy) with an evil plan to unravel at a suitable time.
Thoughts- I’d love to do this, and I’m sure it’d be popular enough to gain the right sort of applicants. Whichever wins the rudimentary opinion vote, I’d put this on regardless ^_^
Anime vs Game: Creations
Origin- Well, since anime and gaming are the two main non-generalised forums on OB (with the exception of Art and Design), I thought it might be interesting to see what would happen if you brought the two together in some comedic episode of some kind of war. Now, whether that’d be between the bad guys and goo guys of both formats or both genres attacking each other I don’t know, but I’m sure it’s an idea worth developing further.
The actual story possibilities are almost endless: I’ve thought about the PC game characters ganging up on the consoles; a band of megalomaniac anime baddies invading the world of games to find more people to beat up, or people like Mario getting too overenthusiastic with his plunger and inadvertently opening a door to another dimension in his toilet, thought which Bowser tries to invade yet another wodl and kidnap Princess Peach.
If Shinmaru’s interested, I was going to ask him to be another forefather of it, heh.
For that matter, if anyone wants to help out with some RPGs that I’d be happy to have someone along. I’m not doing these all at once, though o_o;
So, let me know what you think of ‘em- if there are any in particular you’d like to be a part of or see done.
EDIT: Changed quote in introduction. It's a nice one.
EDIT 2: 3,000 visits! Eee, landmarks are fun.
EDIT 3: Removed that celebrity-killing quiz- the size of the site was annoying me a little. |

Back again... at last ^_^;
So much done, so much more yet to do.
Most urgently, a letter to Sara.
First things first, though: I sorted out some PMs that I'd missed over the Sunday-Monday period. Sorry to keep you all waiting.
Well, things in my life aren't getting a huge amount quieter lately, and that isn't helped by nasty bodily problems >.> I need to eat more healthy stuff, and try and get to the gym sometime this side of 2065. I'll do as many sit-ups as I can this evening and then do lots more tomorrow.
*calms down a bit*
Not that there was anything much wrong with before; I was just a little hyper.
I really really don't enjoy pubs or clubs. And unfortunately I reckon a lot of Holland will be like that, certainly some of it. I always see myself as having to act responsibly. I guess someone has to, especially with certain people around *glares at said certain people*
So, for the moment, it's back to business as usual. Thankfully...
Oh, before I go: I have the .hack//SIGN and Trigun soundtracks now ^_____^ Very cool beans. I'm almost ready to do a table of decent anime soundtracks now. Although there's no Cowboy Bebop, which I know a lot of people really like. I can still give reviews of others with people don't give a lot of thought to: Zoids Chaotic Century and Pokemon. In terms of their orchestral music I believe they're two of the most overlooked. It's fantastic really stuff.
Mind you, I'm on a .hack high right now ^_^; I'm not even halfway through the CD, loving it and even thinking that the £23.99 extra customs charge I was made to have to pay was well worth it.
Parcel Force are bastards.
EDIT:
You better believe it ^_~ |

Another one bites the dust...
Well, Bouncers is over. And it was a really fantastic run, hehe.
But I'm too tired to go over all the gory details. Besides, Mimmi needs you more than I do right now. Go see her.
X-Japan: Say Anything
I can’t walk by myself anymore
The winds of time are too strong
Ah, I should have been used to
Being hurt and such, but now...
Ah, as you are, embrace
My heart, soaked like so
In this continually changing era
If there is an unchanging love
Will you hold my heart
And accept my tears?
All my heart, which is already about to break
Forever Love, Forever Dream
Only overflowing feelings will
Violently, painfully bury time and run out
Oh, tell me why
All I see is blue in my heart
Will you stay with me
Until the wind passes by
All my tears again start to overflow
Forever Love Forever Dream
As you are, stay near me
Embrace the heart trembling in the dawn
Oh, stay with me
Ah, everything should end
In this night without end
Ah, there is nothing at all
That I will lose, only you
Forever Love Forever Dream
As you are, stay near me
Embrace the heart trembling in the dawn
Ah, will you stay with me
Until the wind passes
Closer than anyone else
Forever Love, Forever Dream
I can’t walk any further than this
Oh, tell me why, oh, tell me true
Tell me what the meaning of living is
Forever Love, Forever Dream
Until the shining season changes eternally
Inside of my overflowing tears
Forever Love

*whee... BANG!*
One performance down, three to go ^_^
For a first night, this went really really well. Although there was one really scary moment...
There's a bit where I (as a drunk bloke) have a fight with another drunk bloke and one of the bouncers pulls me off and throws me to the back. So, it got to that scene, and I'm grabbed.
It's a rather awkward position- I've got one hand up in the air behind my back and I'm kind of bent over diagonally backwards; I could hardly say my line.
But I did, and then came the throw.
With all of us being on somewhat of an adrenaline rush for the performance and that fantastic reactions we were getting from the audience, it was hardly surprising that what happened next actually happened.
I was hurled, into the air. I left the ground. I left it good and proper, flying through the air with all the grace of a disorientated flying cow. The force was much harder than it was for any of the rehearsals.
WHAM!
I hear the audience gasp in horror.
I hit the floor with my left side, and instantly I can't move. Breath, limbs- nothing. I can feel a tingling sensation throughout the whole of the left side of my body.
Jez (another drunk bloke) lands on top of me and whispers if I'm alright.
"No."
"What?"
"I can't move."
He grabs my fingers. "Can you feel that."
"Uh... yeah, yeah I can." Thank God. I hadn't broken anything.
"What about your toes?"
"I think they're alright."
Slowly, he pulls me into a standing position an I feel incredibly dizzy. I lean against the back wall and right myself, trying to get rid of the aching electric pain in my jaw and the throbbing feeling in my head.
After a few seconds I'm feeling alright again- at least alright to be able to shout the next few lines and start a rugby chant.
It doesn't hurt anymore, but I've honestly not been more frightened on stage ever. Thankfully thought, it was in black and hardly anything could be seen.
At the end I found out what the audience thought when it happened. Someone said that I wasn't moving, which scared the Director. In retrospect, it was actually quite funny. But I told the thrower that it would be nice not to be hurled quite so hard next time ^_^;
Yeah, they loved it. Really really enjoyed it. And so did I, actually. The audience reactions were fantastic, which makes the energy of the scenes that much easier to keep up. I hope we'll be able to do that well tomorrow...
...after I've had some painkillers and a good night's sleep, hehe ^_^; |

HTM-Hell
Well, playing around with the HTMl certainly makes it look rather interesting, but I'm stuck as to what to do. I don't want to change my font colour, but it's the only thing that doesn't really go with anything else...
And I miss the pretty patterns my Friends List made >_<; It was like waves, going all wibbly-wobbly up the side. Ah well.
Suggestions, anyone?

Both Barrels- BLAM!
Well, today lasted rather much longer than I'd expected, heh.
I saw both Kill Bill films today. Volume 1 was at a friend's house on DVD, and Volume 2 was in the cinema. I'm not usually for watching really violent films, but these two I really enjoyed. Maybe I'm just becoming more desensitised to it o_o;
But they were very artistic. I was a little surprised there wasn't so much artistic diversity in the second volume, but then there was more actual Uma Therman story to carry on about. They were both good, heh.
I want to be able to do martial arts like that >.>
And get paid for it.
Now!
Well, maybe not right now. It's 00:14 on the 3rd of May (according to my clock here in sunny old England- and yes, it was incredibly sunny today. Lovely lovely by the seaside) and I need food and sleep.
And I have a fantastic idea for a new RPG based on what I've seen of the Van Hellsing movie. Damn, I wish I were Hugh Jackman. Or at least in that movie, somewhere.
And no, I've not forgotten about the other RPG's I'm currently in. Way of the Worlds does have a next post (but I need to talk to Ben about it, because he rocks), and When Humans Are The Enemy will too, once I get round to it. With any luck they'll appear tomorrow evening.
And I say, with any luck. I'm at an all-day Bouncers rehearsal miles and miles away from home, so it's possible I might not get back until fairly late. Fun fun, heh...
See you soon.

*Ill, figures*
Hmm, something about the computer doesn't feel right today, not to mention my guts >.> That was a rather unpleasant experience to say the least.
I Hate Ignorant People
I'm not sure how many people outside of the UK know of the huge controversy regarding the combined Measles, Mumps and Rubella vaccination injection givcen to children at an early age to (what else but) prevent them from getting either of those three viruses, which can be lethal.
A while ago a study was carried out which suggested that this vaccination might have a possible link to autism. I am going to outline why this is a load of rubbish.
-Firstly, the person who carried out the experiment was a doctor, not a scientist, and was being funded by people who wanted to disprove the MMR was safe. His colleagues who helped carry out the study have hence dissociated themselves from him entirely.
-The sample study of was 14 children, most of whom had already started showing syptoms of autism before the study began. 14 is NOWHERE NEAR a representative of the entire population, and trying to determine the cause of something like autism after it happened is ludicrously difficult- there are too many extraneous circumstances.
-The MMR jab is given at a time when autism symptoms begin to develop anyway. Just because two things happen in close sequence to one another does not mean that the two are linked.
-Studies in Denmark of around 10,000 (considerably more than 14, I hasten to add) children found no link between the two whatsoever. There really isn't that much difference between Danish and English physiology.
-Separate studies on autism have shown that more boys are affected than girls, suggesting its development is related to testosterone levels in the womb during pregnancy.
-Like a lot of immunal tendencies, the likeliness of developing autism can be genetically linked.
This was sparked off by some woman trying to convince everyone that the MMR vaccine was to blame by having her autistic son being filmed. I'm sorry that he happened to develop it, but it's ridiculous to jump into an argument without knowing the full details. The media aren't making things any better because the longer they can keep the debate rolling, the better press they get and the more money they earn. Scientists are tearing their bloody hair out over this. The link hasn't even been fully proven yet, by anything. Studies made after the anti-MMR one that prove that experiment was incredibly unreliable haven't been noticed at all.
It's like trying to prove alink between buying a shirt from a specific shop and having someone spill baked beans down you, or walking under ladders and being hit by low-flying aircraft.
These things really piss me off. They don't know the full story and yet they're happy to lay everything on a scapegoat which does far more good than harm anyway. You're putting your child at far more risk if you don't give them the combined jab.
Not that I expect many parents read my MyOtaku site, but still... if nothing else it's an exercise in showing that not everything's as it seems. I was taught to pick apart TV adverts at an incredibly early age so as not to be drawn in by them (and probably because I'd tell mum that I really wanted something I saw on TV). Doing a Psychology A-Level really made me see how these things can be so critically flawed. It's annoying that so many other people seem to take them as read.
