Instrument of Mortality.
Someone my mum knows died a few days ago of cancer. She's not hugely upset about it, I guess mostly because he knew about it but refused to get it checked out by the doctors until it was too late. She'll be going to the funeral next Thursday, and... I never liked funerals. She said she doesn't like them either, because "they stir up memories you thought you'd buried and forgotten". That's not exactly optimistic, and it bothers me most when she says it. Both her parents are dead now, I hope she won't be too upset when she gets back.
It puts me in mind of our own mortality as well of those who've already gone. It annoys me that all you need to do is fall in an odd way and you can have years taken off your life (or at least a few weeks in plaster). I guess that's the problem with developing intelligence and society- physical strengths of a species are blurred by mixing genes with those who might not have otherwise survived. Then again, the human brain is pretty much our own adaptation to survive and it's done us pretty well so far. However, to really survive you'd need a strong body as well. There's no point having a brain like Marvin the Paranoid Android if you've a body like a matchstick.
For example: you drop a cat from six feet up and it lands on its feet. You drop a human from six feet up and it falls flat on its face, bruised, bleeding from the nose and complaining about being dropped. It doesn't bode too well, really.
You can't wrap everyone in bubblewrap for their entire lives. Not only would it be expensive, it's not practical. Everyone has to leave their bubblewrap sometime. It just doesn't seem fair how some things can happen like that, though...
Adventures Abound!
I've started the Tenchi/Galaxy Police RPG at last. I'm deliberating whether to change the 'No Ryoko' rule, but if anyone wants to they can always PM me about it. I posted in W.H.A.T.E, too. that should please Ben ^_^ It's not hugely long, but it's better than nothing.
*hugs Shy* He said I can continue the Anime Stereotype High School series if I want to ^_^ I'm very pleased. If it doesn't work out as another RP I'll write a series of fics about it. Even if nobody else does I'll enjoy reading them, heh.
Still can't think of anything for the Digimon RPG, though. I needs to talk to Sara about that, if her computer will let me. |
