Revelations, maybe?
[Heh, I can confooze you now- I'm on the downstairs computer but took the initiative to copy the HTML stuff from a previous post. Sneaky ^_^]
Um... before you read further, I would like to ask you not to hold anything against me. Not that I guess many would, but I know some people feel very strongly about things.
I'm not too sure why I wrote that, heh ^_^; I guess I'm just paranoid.
Anyway, out of sheer boredom I wrote a lemon. I'm not going to post it here, nor anywhere else for that matter. I deleted it some while ago, although I half-wish I'd kept it, just for the style. It was with some of my original characters- I've not butchered any existing serii.
I was rather pleased with it, actually.
But before you go into convulsions about how I could write such filth, please don't. There's a huge difference between what I and what someone else thinks is worthy of being called a lemon as opposed to just plain bad taste.
It's hard to justify exactly, but I know what I mean. I write tastefully, put simply. The first (and only, pretty much) scene I had to write like that was for a vampire story that I was writing with a friend. He gave me a bit he'd already done and wanted me to go over it.
Simply speaking, it was... far too 'technical'. I hold the belief that with something like that, less is more. That is, the more you can leave to the reader's imagination, the better. When he got it back, he told me that I'd changed it from a PG to an 18+ ^_^; But that was purely for the way I had described the scene and the emotions I added in- I actually omitted the various procedures altogether, but he didn't seem to notice. In fact, in terms of what you actually 'saw' in the mind's eye, it went from an X to an R at least.
I don't gain a huge amount of enjoyment from lemons, most certainly not from the majority of the ones on the internet now. Sometimes I read them out of sheer morbid curiosity, but I never finish them. They just end up being crap, for the most part. I can't understand how some people can find that stuff actually erotic, but meh. There's a lot of crap around, I guess. But I do put more into anything I write than sex for the sake of sex. I might be more liberal than most when it comes to things like this, but I think so only if there's decent and valid emotion behind it all.
It sounds like a crap excuse to read and write questionable material, but I certainly don't do it to amuse myself in any way you might think; I just wanted to see if I could still write it effectively. And I think I can. It's good to have diversity as a writer.
This is a really awkward subject to talk about for rather obvious reasons, but I wanted to put it down anyway. I hope it's not too damaging, as it were. |
