The Heat Is On?
Well, I've decided it'd be interesting to take Shin up on his challenge, despite the fact that in about two weeks time I'll be away for at least one day (probably)- it's the huge re-enactment battle at Herstmonceaux. Maybe if I had a post three times the length to compensate the three days of the event?
Anyway, for the moment I'm going to rant on about something that annoys me. But before I do...
Heh, I figured someone'd guess that I visited Mimmi whilst she was in London. Kudos to Miss Sara ^_~
I had written up a long and detailed post about everything we did, but I didn't want to post it up until Mimmi had submitted hers, seeing as it was her trip. But I'm not sure if I should now, hehe. I leave it to her to decide ^_^
Here Be Pirates!
I've already decided that I'm getting the Big O soundtrack. My problem lies within the Final Fantasy: Unlimited OST*.
I was very pissed off when I found out that my second Outlaw Star OST was made by a pirate company EverAnime. The sound quality's alright, but the CD cover copy is absolutely lousy. I'm always tempted to buy an original (and I did with my first Evangelion CD), but they are pretty expensive. I don't mind so long as it's for decent music, but...
The opening and ending themes to Final Fantasy: Unlimited are two of my personal favourites, and I've not been able to find them anywhere to download. I only ever download songs that I love, and that I know I'll get a CD of sooner or later. The thing is... the full-length versions of VIVID and Over the Fantasy aren't on either OST 1 0r 2- they're on separate singles. And importing them from Japan gets rather costly when you get dumped on by the Post Office for Import Tax.
There is what would seem to be an ideal solution to this problem- a CD is available with the long versions of both tacked on to the first volume of the soundtrack, with an additional 20 minutes of music. And it's cheaper than both the singles combined. Decent, no? But...
...it's a release by Ever Anime, which means it's a fabricated cheap pirate CD. And I hate Ever Anime. And I hate not being able to give money to those who deserve it as much as I hate giving money to people who don't.
I might just buy the singles and have done with it. Or just not bother at all. I don't really want the FF:U background music anyway, but if both the full songs were on the CD I'd have it anyway. They just aren't. I have better things to spend my money on, heh. Like that trip to Anime Expo...
*Yes, I have watched all of the anime. And I actually enjoyed it quite a lot, especially the ending ^_^ But I did watch it in Japanese, subbed (rather badly).
Having just written this post, I'm disgusted at how shallow I'm allowed to be when people in Cornwall have had their homes washed away by flash floods and people in Florida have had lives torn apart by Hurricane Charley. Oh great that I don't have enough money to spend.
I don't like ending on bad notes, but when I hear that people's lives have been completely ruined by natural disasters, it makes my worries about which CD to get completely irrelevant in comparison and just makes me feel... cynically helpless, I suppose.
Enjoy the bits you're supposed to enjoy, but I'd like to ask that people in unfortunate situations be thought about, for at least a little while. There's little I can actually do by myself right now, but at least I won't forget when I do have the chance. |
