Whoa...
o_O;
Two films that have recently blown me away in some form or another: The Matrix Revolutions and End of Evangelion. TMR was in a good way, EoE was not really in a good way.
SPOILERS AHEAD, FOLKS! Just thought I'd let you know...
I'll start with The Matrix. The final installment of the saga, I actually already knew what was going to happen through reading the thread about it in the Movies, Music and TV forum. It was extremely well done, though, and would have been my favourite of the lot if they'd chosen a nicer person to be The Oracle. Somehow she just didn't seem to fit the part... but still, it was really amazing. It's had some very mixed reviews, but generally I'm easy to please when it comes to something like this. I'll probably be the same with The Return of the King.
There's kind of a Neo/Jesus theme at the end, I noticed. It's not a criticism, just an observation. I'm glad Link, Morpheus, Seraph et al survived, at any rate. It would have been far too depressing if they'd all died. A few minor niggles, but in all a most enjoyable film, heh.
Now for End of Evangelion.
I bought this somewhat on the premise that I'd be able to interpret it as having a happy ending, which I fail to see anywhere. I think I join Shy in thinking that the series ending was better- at least then I could say with confidence that Shinji was happy that he'd finally overcome his problems.
I even listened to the commentary, thinking that they'd be able to tell me what was going on... they seemed to make rather rude jokes throughout instead ^_^; which is welcome considering the dark nature of the film, but not quite what I was hoping for. Ah well... the animation's good, if nothing else.
And Kaworu was in it, too ^_^ I like Kaworu. I wouldn't hold myself to saying that he and Shinji loved each other, but they would be very good together, heh.
Anything else?
Just my luck. I get to Portsmouth to get some Magician's Force. They had some in, but had since sold out. I did come away with two booster tins (Buster Blader and Dark Magician) and a Heavy Storm card, though. Which was nice (not to mention expensive). I'll have to go back on Thursday, I think. After I meet Ean if I'm able. I will have my Dark Paladin yet...
Final Thought:
Change is inevitable- it might be good, it might be bad. But it always comes and will almost always surprise you, no matter how much you prepare for it. |
