Next, please!
Shout-Outs
Mimmi: I didn't understand the 'selling yourself' reference until just now, heh ^_^;
Heaven's Cloud: I completely agree. Actually, upon taking in my Personal Statement today they told me I didn't need to change anything save removing the course name from the first two lines and adding more about the other activities I do, heh. Nicey nice ^_^
Arcadia: Arcadia, wrong? Never! ^_~
Karmi: Heh, sounds like you'll have competition ^_^;
DDG: The mystery thickens... chocolate, eh?
Lady KeiKei: Ah, I know them ^_^ They're called something completely different here, is why. Can't remember what, though >.>
lea2385: Saves you a job, heh ^_~
Sara: I don't think I'd have enough space for that, heh ^_^;
Panda: *hugs back* You take care, okay? And thank you too, heh ^_^

*winces at fire alarms that have suddenly sounded*

Ah, they've gone ^_^;

Well, the auditions were great fun.

We've been divided into three groups, aptly named A, B and C. These correspond to the directors- the directors in group A can only choose people to act in their pieces who are in Groups B and C and so-on. At least, that was part of the initial set-up. Another part of the initial set-up was that people would choose scenes with only 2 characters, but that didn't work out >.> I was good! I did that, but others just didn't seem to understand... Anyway...

NOTE: Beware of brackets/parentheses

As mostly occurs, A went first. They set themselves up around the room with their scripts and plucked however many they needed of the rest of us to read through their pieces and audition. I did a Blood Brothers scene first, then moved onto do something that someone else had written specially (although was getting people to audition by reading Romeo and Juliet), before moving on again to do an incredibly short piece of dialogue directed by Lianne (the actual piece is longer, as I gather ^_^;), some weird comedy called The Dead Monkey (featuring, surprisingly enough, a dead monkey), a bit of The Diary of Anne Frank, finally finishing with something by Larry Kramer to do with AIDS.

That was the end of that, then ^_^; I didn't know who I was going to be allocated to, but I had to prepare for holding my own auditions in about half an hour's time. I ran to photocopy the relevant section of the script (which cost me 60p).

I sat down in my rather uncomfortable plastic chair with a packet of crisps I bought specially for my auditionees to snack on if they wanted to, and highlighted the parts in each piece. There are only two, so it didn't take long.

First I auditioned a great guy called Josh, who ironically enough shares many of the same characteristics as our own Josh (i.e. six foot three, thin, attractive, drives a car, as well as various other things). He read very very well- I were muchly impressed, hehe ^_^ The other guy, reading in for Oscar, was also impressive, and I think I'd found my two first choices right off the bat.

Unfortunately, this particular group of directors had major problems, in that there was a teriffic shortage of male actors. I'd already agreed to act in scenes being directed by two of the directors in B-Group even though I wasn't technically supposed to, so we had big big problems... I still got Josh to play my Felix, though ^_^ And, even better, I ended up with Jex playing Oscar. I would have chosen him right away if he hadn't been allocated to the same group as me, but since things were switched around I got him anyway, hee.

Although I was happy with my cast, I was not happy with how the rehearsals were looking. Not only have we been given another lesson on Friday mornings right where the only free spots for my driving lessons was (a big big kick up the arse for me), but it looked like I was going to have to rehearse my entire thing out of lessons including all the extra out of lesson time I'd need for every other piece. Not. Very. Happy.

Still, lunch came and went (and I went and got a very bad sandwich that I only ate half of because it was rancidly fatty- everyone always buys up the decent bagguettes on tuesdays, the bastards) and we started discussing cast rearrangements further while the Group C auditions were going on.

I auditioned for all but one, which only needed female cast members.

And I hadn't realised I was so popular a choice, heh ^_^; I guess since I start off fairly neutral I can bend my personality in many different ways to adapt for different characters, so people were annoyed when I had to be shuffled to Directing Group C to give poor Jez a chance to actually work on his scenes (he was in about six, two of which were very big).

In the end, I'm in four scenes, which looks at the moment to be more than anyone else:

Christie In Love- I'm playing one half of Christie- his physical representation, as others see him.
The Diary of Anne Frank- playing Peter.
A Child Called 'IT'- I'm sure some of you must have heard of this- a friend of mine's sdapting a few scenes for the stage, and I'm playing the Narrator (David as a grown up) and the Policeman.
Waiting for Godot- playing Lucky, who has one line in the entire scene. The line, however, is two pages long and runs on in a huge continuous sentence. It will be cut though, thankfully ^_^;

And on top of that I have my Odd Couple. I'm actually quite glad I don't have a job now, heh ^_^;

I don't know when this is being performed, though. I hope and pray it's before July. If it's after before June 30th or after July 6th I can do it, but anything inbetween will leave me seriously screwed one way or another. I really need to talk to Lorraine about it, heh, because it's really worrying me.

Oh, and this is all inbetween Wind in the Willows and Gilgamesh rehearsals, by the way... *nervous smile*
