R.I.P. My Masculinity
Comments!
Kei: Twice in as many weeks! I feel positively omnipresent ^_~
Miss Monkey: *blush* Yes, I have a MySpace. I really need to get some photos up of me not wearing a costume of some sort. Although a lot of what I wear is at least partly costumish- I'm currently sporting my Naruto bandanna, which I wore into college earlier for a rehearsal.
Do you think Sigmund Freud would have been a Naruto fan?
The reenactment event went really well, although...
The fights on the first day were great. They felt great to be a part of and I was really confident with myself.
Then I got punched in the face. With a steel gauntlet. And much blood happened. But I kept fighting, and beat him pretty soundly ^_^ The crowd loved it, heh. And even though it hadn't stopped bleeding I went back in again for the next round and beat people again. Funfun.
As if bleeding all down my armour wasn't bad enough for the first day of a new season, in the first melee on Monday I was up against this guy who normally fights with a polearm, and as I came in with a double slash with my sword, the tip of my falchion caught his nose.
I felt a sickening thud and pull on the end of the blade- he dropped his weapons and fell straight to the ground.
I looked over a few seconds later and blood was absolutely streaming down his face- far more than mine was.
Because I'd actually split his open.
I was absolutely horrified. Thankfully, after the initial shock had passed he was okay and was able to joke about it, growing really chirpy by the end of the day and even leaping over to show off to Mum what I'd done when she came to pick me up >.>;;
I still feel guilty though, even though these things do just happen and considering I've been four years without seriously injuring anyone I'm doing pretty well. And he does have a tendency to generate injuries, especially facial ones. He had a split eyebrow one year, got kicked in the teeth the next, now he's had his nose ripped... he doesn't actually look too bad despite it.
Paul set up this melee with the promise of a promotion to Seargent-of-Arms at the end of the second tournament, and as soon as he said it I knew he wanted the victory to be aimed in my direction. But I couldn't win it- I didn't feel up to it. Still, hopefully there'll be a next time ^_^;
Car Issues
My third car has now decided to up and die on me, and the last couple of weeks have been intensely annoying while I've had to sponge lifts off everyone else to get to places. I'll have a new car tomorrow, though.
But it is a White 1.0 Litre Nissan Micra, possibly one of the girliest cars in the world, denied that privilege only because it isn't pink and sparkly. Thankfully it does have five doors though, otherwise I would have died. Dan actually couldn't contain his laughter when I told him, which made me feel very inadequate. I had wanted something a little (well, a lot) bigger- Micras are tiny little things and although Tony and Mum both insist that it's bigger than my first car, it really isn't. If anything it's smaller, and noticeably so.
I have renewed passion to pass my Advanced Driver's Test and get a bigger car >.>;
But it is transport. And incredibly easy to park, since the boundries of any space are never less than three feet from any of the car's sides.
If only it'd been blue...
EDIT: I'm sure the spelling of 'privilege' has changed since I last spelt it correctly >.>; |
