Me + Few days away = Injury news!
Well, kind of ^_^;

We had a two-day medieval camp at Petworth House this weekend and had loads of fights and bits of training, all of which were in temperatures of no less than 25 Celcius. There was one point where I felt so hot after one of the tournaments that I felt I was either going to pass out or throw up, so I ripped myself out of the armour as quickly as possible. But one thing I didn't notice as I was taking my gauntlets off was where my pottery cup was sitting just next to my armour basket (which, in retrospect was a stupid place for me to put it in the first place).

It sort of happened in slow motion. I recognised that the cup was there when I was slipping my left gauntlet off, but because that was where I was looking I instinctively went to drop it there. And as soon as it left my hand I realised my grave error. During its brief flight, I was thinking "Please don't break, please don't break; oh, it's not broken yet it'll be fine-"

Smash.

"Piss it."

And thus I discovered that metal is harder than pottery. It's still useable as... most of a cup, but now has a less-than-attractive (and somewhat dangerous for lips) cracked-edge dip along one half of the brim. I drank tea from it without hurting myself though, which was alright. I'll buy another one anyway, though.

Who needs the World Cup when you have three swords and an axe?

The fights were fantastic ^___^ I didn't win any battles as such- only a couple of one-on-one bouts inside the tourney itself -but I was so pleased with how I was doing. I know I can still be better and stronger, but I can work on that when my muscle fatigue stops.

We were relatively injury free this weekend. The only thing that really bothered most of us was the heat, and it almost became a race to die first just so you could lie down in the shade somewhere. That said, I have a right nice bruise on my left arm where I fell on it and the breastplate chopped into it. My back muscles ache a lot and I didn't wear my knee supports all weekend so my knees are bashed to buggery from the armour, but nothing too bad. Just means I'll have arthiritis before too long ^_~

The results of my X-Ray came back last week and I had a phone consultation from my doctor. It's kind of... the bone cyst hasn't really filled in at all, and where I had the metal pins in could be showing signs of somethingoranother (I can't remember the word for the condition, although I know I've heard it before). So I'm going to see a specialist in August who should hopefully have my other X-rays to look at and compare. So that's... news.

Feeling fine as of myself. Just need to get some more organisational work done that I've been putting off for a while and do something I forgot about last week, heh.

*hugs all* Take care. I'll give comment-backs when I can see comments again, heh.
