Surprise! *groans*
I suppose that's a general loose theme for this week, heh.

Last Saturday we planned a surprise birthday party for Dan, but it went rather less fluidly than we'd expected.

The day began alright- I had reenactment training in the morning. Since it was my first try at wearing all of my plate armour in combat I was very knackered and very sweaty by the time I'd finished. My left arm still hurts a little from carrying all that weight.

After having had a shower and changing my clothes, i went back into town to meet up with Dan, who was helping run the big parade to kick-start the Chichester Festivities season.

After a while of people making excuses to go home and get themselves ready, we walked round town for a bit and then eventually I had to go home myself to eat and wrap his presents (Obviously, to eat and wrap his presents as separate activities- it would be rather awkward otherwise). I got him a Rough Guide to Lord of the Rings and a Super Poseable Gollum figure, heh.

I was told to arrive at his house at 7- he and his girlfriend were due to arrive at 8, which gave us plenty of time to set up decorations and things. This was, of course, on the assumption that Dan's parents (already in on the surprise) would be in to let us into the house.

They were not.

We sat outside for about half an hour, and once everyone had arrived we phoned Ami to tell her about the problem and decided we'd hide in the vegetable patch until they arrived. We would then launch our attack of surprises.

8:00 came and went, so, instead of putting up the decorations and being already inside waiting inside to surprise him, we ran in after him, gave him the surprise then and there and then put up the decorations ^_^;

It was unorthadox, but worked well. He had no idea it was coming, hehe.

What came later was at least as exciting.

The Formidable Four
Ami had wanted to go over to the main house (Dan has two, sort of) to get a drink. A few minutes later she came back, looking very worried.

"There's someone inside the house!"

None of the lights were on in the main house and the front door was wide open. Dan's parents' cars hadn't returned...

We all made our way over to the house to investigate. Thankfully, there were lots of men to help out (although one refused to move) ^_^; The girls stood by the door.

Dan grabbed an umbrella from the rack by the door and held it out in front of him menacingly while we checked upstairs. Another guy grabbed a hollow aluminium pole (anyone with any knowledge of metals would know how ineffective that would be as a hitting stick), and room by room we made sure everything was clear.

Then came the garage. The door through the kitchen was open, as was the one leading into the back garden. Was this where the intruder had come from?

The light zipped on, and the remaining two of us grabbed some more weapons. Adrian pulled a shovel from the wall with a dramatic 'schwing!' noise, and I went for a humble tennis racket, as it was all I could grab quickly and quietly.

So, the four of us, armed with umbrella, shovel, aluminium tube and tennis racket, crept into the garden.

At the end, near the verandah-like structure, a light was on.

"Hello?" Dan called loudly.

"Hello?" A deep male voice called back.

"Hello?!" Dan replied.

Dan's parents had gone for a walk. That explained why the cars hadn't come back. In fact, they never actually left the driveway.

Why they didn't put the lights back on when they returned to the house is anyone's guess, but maybe they wanted to head straight for the garden *shrugs* We all laughed about it when we got back to the other house. I'd have been scared out of my wits if I'd seen a shadow moving in the doorway of a dark house and no way of telling who it was, so we didn't blame Ami. At least, I didn't.

Oh! What A Lovely *thwack*
And this Thursday we had a surprise OWALW rehearsal. Oh. Joy.

On the way out, we heard rumblings of thunder in the distance and the fresh smell of impending rain on the way. We had to wait for Jez to prepare his cigarette before we could leave, though, and were subsequently caught in the torrential downpour that followed -_- I'd forgotten to take some papers of mine out of the top of my bag, and they are still drying.

Driving Lessen
I'm sure my driving improves in some way with every lesson I have, but whenever I go out with my instructor I come out feeling it's really nothing further than when I just was o_o; But I think he's almost finished introducing me to new things, then I can build my confidence up with them and improve. Either way, today's lesson was rather scary. I hate huge crossroads with traffic lights...

I've been writing more about Nazreal recently, specifically the Kyru/Aeryn story arc. I'm trying to figure out the best way for Kyru to have been cursed without making him too strong a character. And I still need to figure out the rest of the characters'/story stuff. But I've had an urge to get details down recently. It's just a shame I've not got the skills to properly draw/create them individually on paper yet >_<; Ah well. With time, I endeavor to try, heh.

One Last Thing...
Since I (and everyone else) love Shinmaru, I'm going to steal his idea. Name a topic for me to discuss and I shall discuss it as best I'm able ^_^

Seeyassoonness.
