It was beauty killed the beast . . .
Woke up, went to school, ate a cookie, wrote a test, bought some textbooks, had lunch and hung out with an out-of-towner, walked in the rain, rode the bus, ate Greek dinner, watched "King Kong".

I'll elaborate next time. It's almost 2am and I'm ridiculously tired.

One failed, one to go . . .
I'm very much not looking forward to today's 8:30am exam. I deathly fear sleeping in . . . I probably won't since my family's good to me and stuff, but still. And yeah, still wishing I had read more during the past few weeks . . . . . dang.

I have confirmation that a package has landed in Florida. This pleases me.

Here's another plug to download I"s Pure. It's only gonna be 6 episodes, what have ya got to lose?

While on the topic, download "Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad" as well, if you haven't yet.

Visitor's flight got delayed by an hour. I'm gonna go pick her up now (it's currently 9:18pm). Here's hoping "Faramir" does a good job of keeping me awake behind the wheel. Y'know, so as to not die and all.

Glugh. I'm sleepy.

Random SomeGuy Trivia: I can't believe I almost forgot this one! Okay, so since maybe grade 10 or so, I've had this tradition of eating one of those vending machine chocolate cookies before any big final or midterm or something. Y'know, the ones in plastic wrapping with the big white chocolate chip in the middle? Yeah, I've been doing that for . . . about 7-8 years now . . .

   Oh, I've squandered my time . . .
Today at noon. English 362. I'm hooped.

Out-of-towner comes today, though. This is slightly better.

Don't forget to check out I"s Pure. It's good stuffs. Yes, this is word of mouth recommendation. You have to go download now. Animesuki. Go now.

Back to cramming. Peace.

Random SomeGuy Trivia: Despite being an English Literature major, I haven't read jack squat in my lifetime. I need to do more of that . . .

   I lost my semi-six-pack!!!
I've mentioned this several times, but it has been a long, long time since I practiced at the kung-fu club. Since . . . since before August, even. I was able to catch a few performances here and there, but other than that I haven't really been in touch with those guys for a long time . . .

So along with not seeing these people and not learning my forms and stuff, I'm also getting totally out of shape! I mean, I'm not like, getting big or gaining weight (I'm still sittin' pretty at a steady 135 pounds or so). But I doubt I have the same endurance as I did in the summer . . . and my visible stomach muscles have melted away! I mean, before if I crunched really hard I could get a fairly decent ab section goin' on . . . now, not so much. This makes me sad.

It doesn't help that I watched a bunch of "Super-Size Me" yesterday either . . . daaaaang . . .

But, with Chinese New Year just around the corner, we all need to start gearing up for the plethora of performances coming up. So, I have me definitive reason to get back into things. This should be good for me. I can get healthy again . . .

Okay, time to pretend to study. Exam's on Monday, after all.

EDIT: So, tonight "C1 Anime" released a sub of I"S Pure. I got out of bed at about 2am to watch it. In fact, I'm redoing my trivia bit because of this. Anyway, this new OVA is a 6-parter that looks like it's gonna tell the manga story of I"s, which is really cool in my opinion. If anyone's good for some very shounen chick-flickyness, totally check it out. Oh, and don't be put off by the amount of implied fan service . . . I mean, there's tons, but the story itself is the cutest part.

Need a summary? Basically . . . boy likes girl, girl also ends up becoming an idol, boy and girl take a long time in getting closer with each other, old childhood female friend shows up, they all have names starting with "I" (hence, I"s), hilarity ensues . . . and there's mild nudity for anyone who likes that kind of stuff. Now go watch! I"s Pure looks like it's gonna be a good one.

Random SomeGuy Trivia: So NOT ONLY did "Faramir" get me into animes by making me watch "Love Hina", "Mahoromatic", and "Onegai Teacher" at practically the same time as when I had just broken up with my first girlfriend (angst), he ALSO sent me a link to mangascans for Love Hina (obviously), DNA^2, and (you guessed it) I"s. I gotta tell ya, that's a LOT of angsty male-oriented chick-flickiness to soak up all in one school semester . . . . . and damn, it was glorious . . .

Can't you help me as I'm starting to burn (all alone), too many doses and I'm starting to get an attraction . . .
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
This is the crappy Superstore chair . . . still better than the original chair, but in itself not very great.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
This is where the crappy Superstore chair cracked. Not quite broken, but still . . .

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Now look at this glorious thing! SO comfy! Ah . . . the things you appreciate when you actually have them, I tell ya . . .

I seriously need to pick up a new game to chop at. But, being so close to Christmas, I can't risk it lest I piss someone off (I did that to my brother a bunch of times some years back, buying games he kept planning to get me for my birthday or something). A shame . . . ah well. But yeah, haven't really played anything in a little while. Actually, that's not true - I've been playing "Mercenaries" some more again. I can actually probably almost finish it soon . . . then I can at least get past that. Something to think about, I guess . . .

Oh yeah, so who actually remembers my mentioning of the Japanese out-of-towner who's coming back to town to visit us? Anyway, she's got a hotel for the first few days of her stay, but then she was stuck. Needless to say, my mom mentions to me across the desk that "we have a big house". So yes, this friend is gonna be staying at our place for Christmas. I think that'll be fun.

And just think, I can look forward to all of this fun just as I start taking my exams! Whee! Or splat, whichever context works better . . . . . . so yes, let this mark the official 5,374th nonsense post that basically says nothing. Go me.

Random SomeGuy Trivia: Some years ago I had a strong belief that there weren't enough miniguns in films. Mostly it was just "Predator" and "Terminator 2". The past few years have been kinder, though . . . . . still, me loves the miniguns . . .

   This chair friggin' rocks . . .
Well, I went out for a few hours yesterday to buy some more gifts and mail some more packages. When I came home, there was a brand new office chair sitting just inside the house . . . those parents work fast, I gotta tell ya . . . so yes, pre-emptive Christmas present of a brand new leather office chair for the computer . . . and dang, this thing is luxurious . . . best part is that it rises to a really high height, so when I wanna watch anime I can actually rest my feet/legs across the corner of the desk without feeling too uncomfortable . . . yes, I think this is gonna work juuuust fine . . .

The other fun bit of news: eight out of eight packages have been mailed! So let's see . . . that's one Sweden, one Netherlands, one Portugal, one Washington State, one San Diego, one Kansas (for two people), one Florida, and one Virginia. Seriously, the ladies at the post office were starting to recognise me . . .

Other than that, the company Christmas dinner was last night. Tons of food, tons of drink, Chinese-only karaoke (so only 2 people actually sung) . . . but it was pretty fun. I left quite happy . . . "Boromir" didn't transfer the swords in his car to mine, though! Next time, I guess . . . . . annnd that's about it. Have a good Friday, now.

Random SomeGuy Trivia: Up until halfway through grade 12, I was convinced that I'd be going into sciences and Biology and stuff. Within that last half of my senior year I sucked in Math 12, became pretty good friends with my English teacher . . . and well, we all know how the history went from there on . . . . . heh. So yes, mad props to Mr. Mike Ireland, who may or may not be retired by this point (I think he's still working).

When picking which debit card to use becomes a game . . .
Went shopping for a few hours yesterday with "Faramir". Really it was his idea to go out so he could look around for his family . . . I used it as my opportunity to go out and take care of my out-of-towners . . . bwahaha . . . . .

So yeah, I always feel kinda strange when I go up to the cashier with a basket of 8 boxes of Pocky . . .

And then as we walked back and forth through the mall, I kept telling "Faramir" things like, "okay, watch for anything of [this animal], or something like that. I kinda felt bad, though, 'cause by the end of it I had a bunch of bags hanging off my hand while he didn't get anything all day - he said he had good ideas by the end, though. Well, if he's sure of himself, then okay . . .

So yeah, with a little luck I might be able to get everything into the mail by Wednesday. Then they'll have . . . about 10 days to fly around the world to where they need to be. Needless to say, Europe feels like priority since logically it'll probably take longer that way. But yeah, gotta hurry, gotta hurry . . .

Oh, funny stuff. So at Superstore they say they're gonna install security cameras into the back room. This sucks because now we can't play around in the back like we like to, including playing hockey, throwing things around, and MAKING THE SWORDS!!! That said, we need to get the already-made swords the hell outta there before they get junked.

Here's where it gets funny. "Boromir" the Supervisor-man took half of the swords out of the store the other day. Walked right out the front door with a handful of gigantic cardboard anime/game swords. My supervisor walked side-by-side with him laughing. The manager just watched. I would have paid to see that . . . ah well . . . . . oh, the best plus of 'em all: I'm apparently getting a bunch of them! Probably just the ones I made, but "Boromir" claims that they'd have a good home in my basement with the millions of other weapons and stuff . . . so we'll see.

Alright, time to pretend to study again. Peace!

Random SomeGuy Trivia: I've picked up the speech mannerisms of my older brother big time. That said, so has my little brother. It's apparently a very amusing thing to see all 3 of us together anywhere because we all talk the same. Yeah, it's strange . . . funny, though.

   My chair's cracked . . . stupid cheap-assed Superstore chair . . .
I haven't done squat all weekend except get asked stupid repetitive questions by this one General Service dude at Superstore. Seriously, every Saturday when we see each other, he always asks me "what video games are you playing now?" and "what online games are you playing?" and "are you still playing that Rome game?" and "so, what kind of car do you drive?" and "it's not your car, right?" and "where do you drive from?" and "isn't that really far?" and . . . . . every week, I kid you not. Same questions every week . . . he also has a bit of a body odour issue, too . . . I'm sure his heart's in the right place, though . . . . .

I finished burning 18 disks of stuff (15 DVD, 3 CD) finally! Now I just gotta go hit up a million boxes of Pocky . . . and then all will be golden for Christmas outside my city . . . . . well, except one person, but that's out of my hands. So you all have to get her tons of awesome presents, okay?
(Don't ya love it when I pretend to get vague but hardly?)

Yeah, I got nothin' new. That's about it for now. Maybe next time shall be luckier for us all . . . 'til then!

Random SomeGuy Trivia: by the age of 10 or so I was a fairly decent Star Trek fan. Not Trekkie exactly, but decent. Once I was 12 and 13 or so, I got ultra Star Warsy (I mean like, reading the books, playing the games, REALLY immersing myself in it all). Thus, I suddenly felt that if I was to like Star Wars, I must in turn reject all things Trek-ish. This made for fun rivalries with "Legolas" throughout high school (he's a major trekkie).

In the past few years, I've since eased up on the stance, accepting that I'm allowed to like both.

PG-rated war sequences . . . gotta love 'em . . .
So I've finally decided it's time to shift into Christmas mode. If I'm gonna pull off sending all my international correspondence before the 25th, I'd best do that now, methinks. So, I've got me fellow continenters mostly taken care of (a brother with high speed USB is a wonderful thing indeed). As for the oversea'ers, well, I'm workin' on that . . . after all, mail'll take a bit longer to get to you, won't it now? Eheh . . . all the while I'm neglecting my actual in-house family . . . heh, I suck.

So yeah, still just workin', just playin' games, just watchin' DVDs . . . just sad that a lot of DVDs are coming out in January instead of now, like the last "Otogi Zoshi", season 2 of "Lois & Clark" (SUCH a great show), and . . . I dunno, this and that. Still haven't seen "Harry Potter" and need to find a means to see it some time just because I'm kinda interested in seeing it . . . and yeah.

What I did get to see, though, was "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" last night, which made me quite happy. It's been ages since I've been anywhere remotely near the source material of any form, so I couldn't really say anything about its faithfulness as an adaptation. It seemed about right, from what I remember, anyway. But let's face it, that bit's not quite as important . . . we got four children who REALLY fit their roles, the British banter and dry wit shines really well . . . the swords were schweeeeet . . . . . which brings me to my next point. For a PG Disney film that depicts two huge armies smashing each other, there's no blood, no gore, and tons of cut-away style violence. And, y'know, when you realise they can't show certain bits in a children's movie, you really appreciate just how far they try to push it. Hehe . . . to sum up the quality of the violence, I'll just say . . . "Point-of-view face chomp."

It was really good, and I liked it. There was something about it that sorta fell hollow in me, though. Kinda like, but didn't bowl me over with geeky gushiness. Either way, effects are great, Aslan looks freakin' awesome with his glorious CG mane . . . . . ah, ya know you're gonna see it eventually, might as well check it out some time. I mean, Lucy is reeeeally really cute in it . . .

Okay, work day today. Better go rinse my uniform now. Have a good one!

Random SomeGuy Trivia: The first "Serious" computer game I ever truly played was "King's Quest 4". Unfortunately I never really played it from beginning to end, and rather skipped back and forth in the slew of saved games already on the machine (the computer was a total hand-me-down from like, my mom's boss' son of the time). It was neat, though . . . was no good for a 8-9 year old kid, but it was neat.

   Back to normalcy . . . ish . . .
Just got back from the airport. The parents be back. We forgot to party, yo . . . but, at least the house is clean.

So yeah, the past few days have been pretty quiet. Been trying harder and harder to wake up before noon lately after all these really late nights threw my internal clock outta whack. I think I should be okay now, though . . . I hope. Just lounging, gaming, and working . . . and yeah, put up the Christmas lights. They look okay - really, I'm just waiting for the successive years where I can buy more and more lights to add to them. But yeah, LED lights are nifty . . .

Oh, I finished "F.E.A.R." the other night. The ending makes a lot of the game make a whole lot more sense and stuff. Still, that little girl freaks me out . . .

I made another sci-fi movie in "The Movies". This one is so insanely cliche and stereotypical that it cracks me up. Tons more licensed music in it as well - lotsa Escaflowne music. Hehe . . . anyway, as always, here's the link:
http://www.angelfire.com/ny3/someguy/sounds/beach.html

Annnnnd . . . . . that's about it for now. I should really start reading those books again . . . . .

Random SomeGuy Trivia: My favourite colour is green. Did I ever mention that before? It is. That said, the majority of my "coloured" clothes that isn't black or grey is blue. I don't know why that is.
