Holy crap, this is awesome!
So remember way back when Soul Calibur 2 came out for home consoles and it turned out they added console-exclusive fighters Heihachi, Spawn and Link?
Soul Calibur 4 just blew those exclusives out of the water:
Quick update . . .
Just got back from kung fu and I need to sleep fast.
Basically, today I'm registering for a job hunting club. It's the same group/office as the career planning place I went to last month, but different focus. That'll be good.
Package from Portugal arrived yesterday; box itself was pretty beat up for one reason or another, but luckily everything arrived fine. Much love to ya, butterfly.
I should probably write that "caption guide" thingy now very quickly and get it done.
Well, it's official . . .
Yeah, someone's hacked the poll, or has set up a script or somethin' so he/she can just flood votes in however he/she wants.
Fuck.
(That aside . . . I could buy a shoulder holster either online or somethin', but I'd really rather not spend $130 or more on a flippin' cosplay accessory.
On the other news fronts . . . Gundam Seed, box set 1 comes out this week which is cool. Many a person had been waiting for that one, so I'm glad to tell them that that's finally out. The second part should come out early March.
Bought the Queens of the Stone Age song pack for Rock Band . . . enjoying that . . . still pissed off about how Harmonix and Activision (Guitar Hero's new company) are pissed at each other . . . the only ones hurt by their spat are us, y'know.
I've decided that before Sakura-Con I wanna make a Nathan Drake (from "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune") cosplay. It'll be kinda cheap to make (dirty grey shirt and jeans with a pistol shoulder holster), but it'd be fun to walk around like that. Just gotta go look for some leather and learn how to make stuff with it . . . here, have a reference picture:
I just got to about halfway in "The Golden Compass". Still enjoying it quite a lot. Mostly now I'm just debating whether I need to reread "The Subtle Knife" next (since I read it a couple years back for a class) or if I'll be fresh enough to go straight to book 3. Somethin' to think about.
Am I done? I'm done. I shall finish with Bif's cover of Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters":
Gay internet porn? Again? Really guys?
Y'know what? I think this week I shall have to write and post a "Caption Battle Suggestion List/Guide" on Wednesday. Further, I shall have a link to this list/guide in every caption battle post for the rest of time.
Things to touch on, in example:
-Writing a caption that pretty much says the exact same thing as another caption that's come before yours is rarely worth writing.
-Yaoi, while potentially funny, is not inherently funny.
-Using common sense when it comes to language and such - as funny as hearing "cock-knocker" is, it'll never win a caption battle.
-Long, extensive dialogues rarely win; they can, but they'd better be damn good.
-Follow-up to the last one: you're given a picture, a single flash moment in time. Writing about actions beyond that moment in time is a story inspired by the picture; it's no longer a caption.
Stuff like that. I'll admit, this inspiration from this came from www.supermanhomepage.com ("Remember, only YOU can prevent bad One More Day jokes, and knowing is half the battle"). They also mention taking the week's judge's tastes into consideration as well . . . I'm iffy on bringing that one up, but yeah.
In any case, I think I'll need to do this. For the betterment of the future . . . Comments (14) |

Oh shoot! Lion dance today!
For those of you who didn't get it last day:
That done . . . I've got The Golden Compass to read and a lion dance to perform in Chinatown at noon today. They may or may not make me be the head which scares me (my lion head abilities aren't quite as confident as my cymbaling abilities, that's for sure!). Here's hoping I don't sleep in this morning . . .
Have I mentioned that Bluetooth headsets are fun as all hell? I rarely have to use it (basically it's just so I can hands-free my cell phone while I drive), but it's just nifty.
To wrap up today's post . . . my job-finding sooner-than-later priorities are hilarious.
1. I've missed my past 3 dentist check-ups. I miss having a dental plan . . .
2. I wanna have steady work so I can plan for time off for conventions.
I suppose "move out by this year" is in there as well . . . but that's less of a priority. Funny, huh? Comments (8) |

For giggles:
Here's the drummer I created in Rock Band.
If you don't get it, you need to watch more Gundam Seed.
EDIT: Maris'! Your package arrived today! And holy crap, I'm basically floored - Volume 1 of the Heroes Graphic Novel in hard cover and a hip flask . . . hehe, methinks mine reputation doth precede me.
You seriously went way out . . . consider me completely dumbstruck. Thanks beautiful, I love it all. Comments (4) |

Journey...
Two thousand seven now comes to an end,
We’ve all survived so far, as far can tell,
So as we recollect, these thoughts I send
That all shall be remembered, cherished well.
My travels thru the year had brought me far
And near, from west coast USA and back,
And further still as though to raise the bar,
The Old World ‘round, my life in one black pack.
But journeys with your feet are not the
Only kind that count, I think I’ve learned a touch
About this other path to learn, to know…
Though what I’ve learned, I’ve learned I know not much.
I’m often told the ways I’ve touched the lives
Of others, be it counsel, help or mirth;
It takes no skill to listen, shield the knives,
No, such things are easy on this earth.
It’s true they say the grass is always green,
More so when you see the fields of others…
So listen when I tell you what I’ve seen,
Your emerald fields, my dearest sisters, brothers…
Some of you I’ve watched grow up, grow strong
In all the ways your dreams at night had swirled,
From bright-eyed teens to young adults; how long
Before I watch you ruling all our world?
The leaps and bounds I see you take each day
Reminds me of the times I’ve let slip by,
Your drive and passion blows us all away,
And makes me wish I’d giv’n a better try.
I sit here now, six months without a job
And every day I fear I’ll let you down…
I know already I shall never sob,
For in this river you shall never drown.
I know I’m not the only one who feels
This way about you all, I know it’s true,
Though talking ‘bout these others then reveals
A different set of admiration new…
The easy times were few and far between
For ones whose eyes have seen far more than mine,
Their wills have wavered, faced with times obscene,
Yet still I find much in their days divine.
As one oft says, “you grow into your own
When stepping out with just your own two feet,”
And here I sit, inside my childhood home,
Still dreaming of the days in which I’ll fleet.
When first we met their age was as mine now,
Already they are married, pressing on…
No matter how tough times may sometimes plow,
Their independence inspires me upon..
It’s times like this I often feel quite lost
In terms of where to go, or what to do,
This hesitation for me pays a cost
Of body and of mine, I know this true.
I have concerns that I might miss my chance
And disappoint some day, and not live up
To what I can; some day I’ll not advance
And only be the wordy, aimless schlup…
But, I’m far from giving up just yet, and
As well, tomorrow is a brand new year,
And though I walk my path with burning brand,
I know I’ve nary beasts to truly fear.
One thing’s for sure, I know I could not ask
For better travel company, no doubt;
These days, most worthwhile things I take to task
Are for your pleasant trips, complaints without.
To where we travel next, I cannot say,
Though what I can…
So about Rock Band . . .
Yes, it's still eating my life. Not my fault, it's got a great song list. Among many, there are:
-Don't Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult (with loading screens telling you that "Gene Frenkle is fictional")
-Enter Sandman by Metallica
-Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi (if anyone's seen the Triumph Insult Comic Dog thing where he roasted Bon Jovi, this was the song he analyzed with the "on a steel horse I ride" line)
-Tom Sawyer by Rush (it's a long song)
-Here it Goes Again by OK Go (the Treadmill song!)
-Won't Get Fooled Again by The Who (CSI: Miami song!!!)
Drums are hard. Mad props to you, Mr. East. Don't know how ya do it . . .
In other news, I'm doin' alright. Wondering what I need to do for New Year's, though . . . Comments (9) |
